Another Early Exit, Another Win - Thursday 30th March

Fri, 07/04/2006 - 2:32pm

Shattered today, just too tired to think. E-mails and PM's again, until 2.30pm, then I decide to play the Laddies $250.

That took exactly 2 minutes. Took a flop with QJ hearts, flop was 9-T-4, two hearts. Against AA or QQ I am 55-45 fave, against KK I'm almost even money - all the chips go in, he has KK, I miss, goodbye to $250. Weirdly, my opponent having KK is a worse hand for me than him holding AA in that coup.

The phone went mad all day. Micky 'The Clock' Cook, Willie, Steve Meehan, Rhow, Dave, Thewy, bless him, Gosney, and Brian Wilson. Just chit-chat really, except Dave, with whom there were several blonde issues to discuss. Dave is a lot happier now the Cardroom is open. He and I were at each other like at-it-each-other things two weeks ago, all good business issues that needed sorting, but we both get frustrated and, luckily, can speak our mind to each other freely.

Eventually get a nap at about 5pm, Chili texts to say, 'Oi Old Man, you down Gala Notts tonight for the £50 Double rebuy?". No, I reply, NO WAY. Too damn tired. 'Starts at 8pm,' she helpfully adds. I stand firm - No No No No No. Absolutely not. You got that?

Book in at Gala Notts with 5 minutes to spare. Details in my (seperate) Tourney Report, but suffice to say I go all the way, and come home exactly £2,000 to the good. I blame that Chili girl. But it's a lovely feeling to win the comp.
