The important bit is to play online for 'play money' on sites such as universitypokerleague.com. You can gain tons of experience without it costing you anything. Don't progress to real money cash games until you are a consistent winner on the play money tables. Generally speaking, if you are a patient disciplined player, it is easier to win in 9 or 10 handed cash games. If you are a more inventive style player and like to play too many hands, then play tournaments or short handed cash games.
As a beginner I was wondering what you would think would be best to learn the game, cash games or playing in tourneys?
