Tournament Deals: When would you and when would you not do a deal?

Although I have made deals in the past, I don't believe that they are a good thing. I don't like making deals for several reasons. They are not good for the advancement of poker, not good for TV and will disuade any Commercial Interest in the game.

Most final tables are pressure cookers. If I keep my opponents under pressure they are usually easier to read, and more liable to make bad decisions. I don't like making deals because this relieves the pressure and makes my opponents more unpredictable. Therefore if I make a deal or saver at the final table, I make it harder for myself to win the tourney.
