Here's something a bit different - a Tournament Report of an online comp. It it reads as dull as it sounds, well hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

bluesquare.com were holding a $198 Rebuy Satellite tonight for The Vic Festival. Winner got entries for the entire Vic Festival week, plus hotel & exs, about $12k I think, with nearly $8k to the runner-up, & naff all for anyone else. Got to be worth a bash.

Word got round on the blonde Forum, even though I did not know about the comp until mid-evening, & before we knew it, we had a decent blondeite complement.

Burnley John, At It Bradley, Stu Fox, Womble, Red-Dog, me, and Iwan Jones, who goes under the intriguing alias of poker gimp. Care to post in the "what's in a name" thread Iwan?.......Ariston was rumoured to be playing, but I never saw him. Mind you, I blinked at the very start, so he probably bust out then.

Decent structure for online - 2,000 starting points, 15 min clock, rebuys available first hour, when less than 2k.

The lads are all asking for blondepoker caps - as they do all the time, we MUST get some more I guess, so I offer a bottle of champers to the lastest longest blondeite, that's another £25 down the drain.

Ok, off we go. I find KQ first hand, EP raises, I RR, he calls. Flip is J-9-8 rainbow, Matey boy makes a weak bet. I don't believe him & move in. Ooh-er, tikay all-in first hand! But he passes, & I'm off to a flyer. But not as good as Red Dog or Womble, both of whom double up early, Womble with the orgasmic match up of AA v AK.

I am on same table as Stu Fox and Iwan Jones, Stu posts on blonde Forum that "tikay is bullying". Well, have you ever heard such a thing?

But I do take a few positional pots, it really is a different game with a decent stack in front of you. I limp with AQ in early position, there are 2 maniacs on the table, so if they R pre-flop, I'm ready with the big guns, it's all going in, but no, it's limp city and a family pot. Flop is J-K-x, turn is a the T, river an Ace, so I have the coconuts. Sadly for Matey Boy, he has Q-9 for the ugly straight, all the chips go in on the end, & I 2xthrough. Bingo!

By now, amazingly, blondeite's hold 3 of the top 5 spots, lovely.

Then I get REALLY lucky, with AJ off. Stu Fox has AJ too, but he's suited, Diamonds, & despite a fair bit of pre-flop activity, a guy called - well lets not embarrass him - Mr Angry, lets call him - is in there too with A-2. A-2! Amazingly, the case A flops, & all hell is let loose, but Mr Angry has much the best of the A-5-2 (two diamonds) flop, he's got 2 pair. Stu, meanwhile, has top pair, & nut flush draw, & I am in a right hole. But a black J turns, river is a blank, & somehow I end up splitting the pot with Stu, & Mr Angry's done his stack.

He goes off on one big time, nobody says a word, but then an extraordinary thing happens. Every time it's Mr Angry to act, he uses his whole time allotment - every single hand. Eventually some geezer says hey, what's going off? Mr Angry says "It's a bad beat protest" Protest at WHAT, someone asks? "At that bad beat". WTF!!!??? So, his little protest went on. A few guys started abusing him, but in my view, that just backs the guy into a corner, so I said nowt. Geezer # 2 complains to the site, who say it's not against the rules, so now Geezer # 2 says he'll never play on blue sq again. What IS the matter with folks? I thought we were supposed to enjoy the bloody game! But sods law intervenes, Mr Angry takes a big beat, & he's history. Can't pretend I was sad, the guy set himself up for a fall. How silly was that?

Meanwhile, Burnley John, under the appropriate alias of Mr Grumpy - not to be confused with the departed Mr Angry - doubles up with a house, and all is well in the world of blonde.

Then deep-stacked Iwan Jones gets very unlucky, & I get very lucky, in the same hand. I'm messing about in a lot of pots, & call with K-3 clubs, Iwan ditto with Q-9 clubs. Flop comes club club club, he he. I have perfect "reverse position" in this case - Iwan is behind me, & bets every street, as I know he will with any semblance of a hand, & I just check-call all the way, what could be simpler. He thinks I am drawing & have missed, & moves in on the end, I fear only the nut flush, bit I ain 't passing, & that's a cruel blow for Iwan, who never really recovers. He took it well though, bless the Welsh, eh? Meanwhile, I am chip leader now, not surprising with so much good fortune.

But now Stu Fox has his eye on my stack. I make it 6k to go with AQ, he moves in for 30k, HOW MUCH? I cant believe he did that. He aint got AA or KK, but he COULD have AK. I decide discretion is the better part of valour, even though I think I'm ahead, & pass. He had K-T. Pah! Great play Stu. As for me, was that weak or wise, to lay it down? I mean, AQ against a RR aint usually a sensible thing. I comforted myself with the thought that I was still only about 60-40 at best, but hells bells, I was cross with myself. But not the WORST pass in the world, or was it.....?

Amazingly, the top 4 spots are now held by blondeite's, me, then At It Bradley, Stu Fox next, then Grumpy John.

Red-Dog meanwhile was having his own prob's, losing most of his stack in an 88 v AK coin flip the very last pre-freeze hand, & could only add-on, so he's in trub. He soon exits in an awful manner. He R'd properly with KK, got called by A-3 of all things, & you know the flop. Cruel, cruel, cruel. Bad play rewarded, or what?

At It Bradley then goes on a Yoyo training course. In the space of 4 hands, he trebled up, & bust out, his last two hands QQ v AK & KQ v A6, both coin flips going the wrong way. Hero to Zero in 4 hands!

Meanwhile, my luck continues. I clash with a guy called Mark Forrester. Mark finished 71st in the WSOP biggie last week, a terrific show by the lad, he's "Diving Duck" on blueSq. He makes a R, I RR him almost all-in with AK, & he's almost obliged to call with KQ - perfect, & BINGO yet again.

Now I find KK - this is TOO much I think. I play them cute, Matey Boy pops it up, here we go again, all the chips in pre-flop, I dread some rag A, but he's got....KK as well. Oddly, all 4 were different suits.

And then it got even better, because I found KK yet again, in late position this time, & on Mr Grumpy's BB. I fancy he will not like me limping on his BB, so a a limp it is. He moves all-in, I call in a flash - WTF - he's got 2-2! Whohoo, or WHAT!

Stu eventually exited in 7th, and as he was the last blondeite, bar me, I win the champers, he he. But Colchester Kev, who sweated us all night, God bless him, says "well that's£50 to P4C then tikay. Damb. I haggle, & we agree £25 to P4C. Damn that man. Spookily, Stu's "address" which appears on screen, was "blondepoker" - same as mine! There's devotion to the cause, eh?

There oughta be a fairytale ending to all my good fortune, but the cards went dead on me, & I played bad, weak, poker towards the end, & froze up a bit I think. Below ave now - where DID they all go? - I move in with A-9 & get called by Mr Billy Big Stack with AK. A miraculous flop of 6-6-9, followed by another 6 gives me the boat, but justice is done when the K rivers, & that's me gone, 6th & zilch.

The last 3 had a great battle, Cam18man from Norway fought like a tiger when low stacked with 3 left, but eventually perished. Then Moorek, from New Jersey, battled it out with King Rat from Glasgow, the American eventually prevailing. Well played Sir, a $12k package to the American, & $8k to the Glasgow man. Very nice too.

Well there you go. An online Tournament Report, my first, & probably last. But it was worth the effort. I think........
