This was a tale of "Brighton Rocks" (the locals) and the raiding blondite party who for the main event adopted a fluorescent "cuddly toy" fish won on Brighton Pier. The fish has become famous in its own right in Brighton, as you will see from the pictures, and now has membership!

Many of the usual crowd were absent in Vegas at WSOP but other "faces" made the trip to the South coast, such as Mick Cook, Jeff Duvall, Alan Vinson, Lucy Rokach, Stuart Nash and Eric Dalby. The event, superbly organised by the Tournament Director Barry Mundee, was well supported with 79 runners present for the £750 double chance freezeout with a 45 minute clock. We started with 5,000 chips with an option to take the other 5,000 at any time in the first 1 ½ hrs.

A fresh salmon buffet supplied by The Rendezvous went down well with those of us not allergic to fish!! And then they were off . early action was predictably slow and after the first two levels, not one player was out!

After the break people started to drop out at a steady rate, to Barry's relief. Lucy Rokach made her move mid session with a massive all in re-raise to an early raise from Akshay "Action" Kumar whose call with AK was rewarded by an Ace on the flop to send Lucy's JJ home. Akshay then went on to share the spoils with Alan Vinson, who played a fantastic final, taking £13,500 each.

Blondites making the trip included Malc-M, Jo H, Mel and Eugene and of course Paul Moss who took 5 th and £5,000 earning healthy percentages for Jo and Malc.

Day one finished with 21 runners who returned to battle it out for the £62k pot. Blondite support surrounded Paul (FATMARRA) Moss from the NE, the Danny DeVito look alike whose recent results included qualifying for the next Ladbrokes Cruise and a pay day in the £100 NL rebuy event earlier in the festival week.

Viv Williams got close to following up his recent good result at Walsall but couldn't quite make the final table this time following veteran Eric Dalby and ex East Enders star Michael Greco who along with the other second day qualifiers picked up a £100 saver.

The final table was not as tense as a main WSOP event but in an ideal setting overlooking the Brighton Marina - not quite Monte Carlo, but its hard to beat on a rare sunny July day.

Debbie Rogers left in 11 th leaving local Krish Holland as the sole female on the final table. She survived Irish champ Martin Farragher out in 9 th but after a battle lasting a further two levels Krish was out when her queens didn't hold up against A10, leaving 7 to go.

Steve Bovis ( who had earlier in the week shared the £100 event with blondite Mel) refused to take defeat and managed to double up his short stack when his (Doyle Brunson famed) 10-2 doubled him up when a massive dog to Action's AK.

Paul (FATMARRA) Moss finally departed in 5th taking £5k a result that will ensure that the "Cuddly Toy" fish mascot will next be seen at Luton and that Malc-M who had a % will continue to be seen carrying his bag -cigarettes -and probably the fish!

A late tangle with Alan saw Steve Bovis depart in 4th . N Lee from London took 3 rd for £9,500 leaving the spoils to be chopped between Alan Vinson and "Action" who took £13,500 each.
