A Weekend in Vegas

Mon, 10/07/2006 - 9:02pm

Well as you may know I flew over to Las Vegas courtesy of Mansion Poker on Thursday. Again the players due to play in the semi-final of the Poker Dome were treated very well with another suite at Caesars and a posh meal at the very swanky French restaurant Guy Savoy. Fed and watered and well rested I was ready to take on another five players on Friday afternoon. Dave busted out of his tournament just in time to join the live audience and cheer me. He was treated like a king with his own camera dedicated to just him and a front row seat.

And so play commenced, things went well to start when I knocked out player one and greatly improved my chip stack. However it was not to be despite playing well, I entered into two big pots with the best hand both times but was done over when the common cards came down. I have to say I was absolutely gutted, but looked forward to a chance to win a WSOP gold bracelet on Sunday.

Catman had worked his magic and brought me on board the 888.com team to play the ladies $1000 event. The event had an amazing turn out doubling in numbers from last year to around 1200 foxy ladies. However, despite being terribly patient for the first hour and a half card dead, then getting as beautiful a run of colourful cards as any lady could possibly wish for, I began to accumulate some chips. Then right before the first break I get the dreaded hooks, giving them up after a nothing flop, sure that my opponent had a higher pair. So with my nice towers of London reduced to little huts, I was rather peeved but still had enough to play. So when I look down and see King Queen in my hand I am over joyed. Making a standard raise and getting two callers I was more than happy when the flop came down Ace King Queen giving me a strong two pair. However my glee was quickly dashed when Mrs Houston rolled over Ace King after calling my all in without a second's delay.

LondonPokerGirl was shortly dismissed from the tournament after me and so we went off to drown our sorrows in cocktails. From half four in the afternoon we drank our way into the small hours and forgot all about our misfortunes.
