Vegas Baby!

After hooking up with the poker prodigies Pab and SexyGee in Vegas my learning curve commenced. No, not in poker but in drinking, straddles and the 'Purple Highway'.

Pab's final was a killer to watch. The script couldn't have gone any worse with short stacks doubling up all around him and being totally card dead himself.

Ahh well. $1 per drink at the final table eased the pain. After the final we took Pab to the Voodoo Lounge, which has the best view in Vegas, followed by the legendary 'Purple Highway'.

The following night's cash game was quite possibly the craziest 1/2 NL game I have ever seen. Sexy Gee, Pab, myself and Chris Moorman, seated in that order, started to loosen up what began a tight table. It begins with the usual straddle from the under the gun position. A few Coronas later it emerges that a straddle is not nearly enough. By 1AM we have a straddle, a blind raise to $8 (Pab) and a blind reraise to $16 (me) and a blind rereraise to $32 (Moorman) preflop.

Some of the hands played are in Pab's blog but let's just say it was not tame between mates! Several times flops, turns and rivers were played in the dark by both players with betting on every street!

I played an Orleans' comp 5 days after this cash game and the locals were STILL whinging about the 'crazy Brits' who were throwing money away. (Like Pab's 8-2 pre flop! FISH!) Funny thing is the money stayed between the Brits, and the locals often got stacked. You could see it on their faces, locals thinking they've found the best cash game ever only to leave a few hours later broke.

The following two weeks consisted of more Corona, the introduction of the White Russians, numerous visits to the Tilted Kilt and Voodoo Lounge, never of course forgetting the Orleans' cash game afterwards.

For those who fancy the 100 or 200 cash game at blonde Bash III, bring a few rebuys just in case!
