A few months back, I was lucky enough to be attending my first World Poker Tour Event. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in a playing capacity, but, nevertheless, I was honoured to be in the presence of so many top-notch players. Mike Sexton, Alan Goehring, Johnny Lodden, Dave Colclough, Ram Vaswani – all the stars were there, but one fellow in particular was a personal highlight… Mr Phil Hellmuth

I’ve always been a big fan of the Poker Brat. He’s an entertainer and seems to liven up every comp he attends. That time in Paris was no exception. Moaning, whinging, cockiness, arrogance, you know, the usual Hellmuthisms.

Anyhow, it got me thinking. I love Hellmuth spiels such as "If there weren't luck involved, I guess I'd win every one" and "I can dodge bullets, baby", but what are the best all-time poker quotes? Well, you guys probably have your own views, but here’s my top ten. See what you think.

(1) Once you start thinking you have nothing left to learn, you have everything to learn -- Steve Badget

(2) If, after the first twenty minutes, you don't know who the sucker at the table is, it's you -- Rounders

(3) Forget about a chip and a chair, give me hand and I'll stand -- Warren Karp

(4) There is more to poker than life -- Tom McEvoy

(5) Even a blind squirrel catches the nuts sometimes -- nickylala

(6) You can sheer a sheep many times, you can skin him only once -- Amarillo Slim

(7) I'd rather be lucky than good -- Lefty Gomez

(8) Cards are war, in disguise of sport -- Charles Lamb

(9) People would be surprised to know how much I've learned about prayer from playing poker -- Mary Austin

(10) Omaha is a game that was invented by a Sadist and is played by Masochists -- Shane Smith

Give him a few years though, and I think Phil will have this top ten dominated...
