Must have missed the bit, where you accepted my bet. All very well bumping threads, putting your money where you mouth is seems to be somewhat lacking.
LOL, thought that was a figure of speech, not an actual bet. I would have snapped your hand off.

It'll be a long time before Megson manages again, if ever.

With respect, and as someone with no love of Megson following a fairly dull spell in charge of my club, that is complete balderdash

He'll do well at a lot of clubs from Championship level down

Tighty is spot on, how much would you like to bet Megson is a manager again at a football league side in 2010.

Anyone seen where Megson's managing now, I must have missed it?  stirthepot

The 'grass-roots' argument is bollocks, unless we're going to have a world cup final with no linesmen.
Exactly.

Finally, the old duffer starts to see sense......

“It is obvious that after the experiences so far at this World Cup it would be a nonsense not to re-open the file on goal-line technology,”

Quote on the tevez balls up

“Personally I deplore it when you see evident referee mistakes but it’s not the end of a competition or the end of football, this can happen,” said Blatter.

“The only thing I can do is yesterday I have spoken to the two federations (England and Mexico) directly concerned by referees mistakes.

“I have expressed to them apologies and I understand they are not happy and that people are criticising.

We will naturally take on board the discussion on technology and have first opportunity in July at the business meeting.”

Now if opposition fans, who don't watch every LFC game and still harp on about Zonal Marking, think Rafa is shit, that's really not going to be a deciding factor in whether we thought he did a good job. No offence, but I feel like I'm more informed than them.

Yup, fair points Baron, echoes there of all the opposition fans who tried to tell Bolton fans they were wrong to want rid of Megson, who despite apparently being such a good manager, is still out of work 6 months later.

I think you're maybe wrong about Hodgson like, but I understand where you're coming from with your points.

To the “expert” eye, these deluded fools had been conned by Benitez’s cunning and blinded to his failings by the glory of Istanbul and the *criminal incompetence of the American owners.

I have to say Baron, that reading RAWK this week, then this part, put up as outsiders view of the Scousers in that piece, is spot on. It's all the Americans fault, Rafa was the good guy, the whistleblower, on the fans side against those horrible owners. Seems Rafa though is against everyone who stands up to him, Parry was also on his hit list remember.

Yes your owners are  a bad thing, that doesn't make this a bad decision, nor did it make Rafa good for standing up to them.

Put it another way, ask opposition fans if they rather you kept or sacked him, there's very few wouldn't want you to keep him.

IMO, and it's just an opinion, you've all become so blinkered in your hatred of the Yanks, that your enemy's enemy is your friend regardless of his own failings.

Our World Famous Stovies buffet will be served on Saturday 19th to all the APAT players.

Anyone who posts "Whats Stovies?", sits next to Ironside!

Corned beef or sausages? Your answer could be a deciding factor on whether I travel a very long journey....or not!
Our Chef won't tell me the ingredients, though having tasted her Stovies many times I suspect its Corned Beef.

Corned beef or sausage? Well if it's corned beef, then the clue is in the ingredients, and it's corned beef hash, if it's made with sausages, nae idea what that is but it's certainly nae stovies, but if it's BEEF, onion and tatties, then you have STOVIES.

People need to be taught to drive better in general. So many morons on the road, some people are so clueless on the motorway it's so scary.

they mainly include knobs with expensive cars that think they own the roads!!
No, I would say they mainly include twats who sit in the middle lane with nothing in the inside lane, or who decide to pull out without indicating, or once overtaken someone else, need to leave about 400 yards of room before they pull back in again, or who never ever see blue lights behind them and still sit there oblivious (not restricted to motorways ldo, but just unbeleivable that some drivers are that unaware) or lorry drivers who decide they will overtake just at the start of a long uphill section, and proceed to 'overtake' at approx 1 mpn faster than the lorry oin their inside.

Sympathy vote, NO WAY, the guy was a real quality player. Walter Smith and Craig Levein would do almost anything to have a Davie Cooper in their line ups today.
Shame he only got 22 caps then eh? For such a great player, helluva poor haul, yet good enough for an all time XI?  The memory seemingly much greater than the reality, and it is a sympathy vote.

The reply I would like to leave would get me banned but u r lower than a snakes bollocks IMO, Davie Cooper was and always will be a legend. No sympathy vote required.
Why? I don't think he should be in, he rarely played to his potential, how does that warrant such a reply?  Cooper had many great moments, but he was far from a guy who turned it on in the majority of games he played.

Team is in:

Goram

Jardine Miller McLeish McGrain

Johnstone Souness Bremner Cooper

Law Dalglish

Manager - Jock Stein

No real arguments, except Cooper. He's way too over-rated seemingly because he died in his 30s imo. He's Rangers version of Eion Jess or Paul McStay, you knew the talent was there, but rarely did it come out. Sympathy vote imo.

Goosen - Missed the cut last year after a first round 76, but from 2002 went 2nd, 13th, 13th, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd, 17th, MC. Good form this year and a consistent Augusta performer which counts more than anything. My top pick - 25/1

Ross Fisher - creditable 30th place at the first attempt last year, despite a second round 76. Vying with McIlroy to be the next British major winner. Matured tremendously over the last couple of years and should improve on last year's showing. Great price @ 66/1

Villegas - 4th time here, MC, MC then 13th last year after 73, 69, 71, 69. Lad seems to be growing year on year in general, and last year found his way around. He's a bit short priced, but small bet - 35/1

Geoff Ogilvie - 4 Masters, made the cut in them all. Best finish last year in 15th, after a closing 69. Bit of a streaky player, but when he's hot he can run away with it. He'll see you safely into the weekend for your wager, can he step up to a challenge this year? 45/1

Westwood - Good finish this week in Houston, but a mixed Masters track record, though he's been on the form of is career over the last two seasons, his putting, as so much evidenced in last year's Open, has let him down. He's in danger of following Monty and Darren down the great European player that couldn't close out a major path. Expect to show, but not push the winner, a small bet at poor odds that are too short - 22/1

Its the premier league, there is more than one league known as the premier league so we clear this up by saying English premier league, or EPL.

I don't understand the problem.
It's THE Premier League though. It's never been the English Premier League. The Scottish have a premier league but as it's not THE premier league they have to call it the Scottish Premier League hence the acronym "SPL". That's the name of their league. We don't call it the Scottish Premier League to distinguish between that league and our own we call it that because that is the league's name.
It's the same as golf isn't it. We have The Open and the Americans have their version - The US Open. That's not a nickname we've given it to distinguish between the two that is it's name.
Also in Poker, America have the Word Series of Poker and Europe has the World Series of Poker Europe. I haven't yet seen anybody feel the need to add US onto the end of WSOP.
Would almost be a good point, except where your examples fail to use a country prefix, is because they came first, The "British" Open was the first Open for example,  the SPL was the first league to use the word Premier, way back in the 70s.  Flushy is right, using EPL makes it perfectly clear to everyone what you're refering to.

lol talk about delusions of grandeur FFS!

Livescore call it English Premier League
Xscores call it English Premier League
Bet365 call it English Premier League
PP call it English Premier League
BBC.co.uk/sport/football even call it English Premier League!

The only people who don't are people that think the English top competition is far superior to the others to be using the familiar term 'League', and wish it to be known as the premier'ship'

Stop listening to the Media, get over yourselves.

Its the EPL, not the P
