Well, first of all, can I remind you all of something we announced back in June - take a look at this.....

http://www.comeonboro.com/blondepoker/forum/index.php?topic=642.0

OK.

Team blonde are pleased to announce that Poker 425 have extended the Contract for another 12 months! So, we will be known as the "Poker 425 blonde Forum" until July 31st, 2006, all things being equal.

We are immensely grateful to Poker 425 for this, & we hope the blondeites agree too. The reasons we outlined in the earlier announcement all remain valid. This gives us the finance we need to do Live Updates from all over Europe, and occassionally, further afield, & they can remain "free to air" to blondeites. And it means we can pay Jen properly - she was working pretty much for free until recently, & that's not right.

The deal with Poker 425 is transparent, as we said earlier, if you've got questions about it, fire away, we have nothing to hide.

I can hear many of you thinking - what about Syrfop's outrageous allegations, that Wm Hill "owned us". We said then, we say now, we have nothing to hide, we have been dead straight with you from the outset.

During the original Contract period, we have demonstrated our editorial independence. That remains the case for the next 12 months.

And lets forestall any allegations that angle shooters may have, & tell you the technical details.

The deal is with Poker 425, & is intended to boost traffic & raise the profile of their website, www.poker425. In fact, I have entered into a seperate Contract with them to provide them with written content, as have several others. My deal is to give them Previews & Reviews of Big Comps, Festival Diaries (as I did for them from Vegas & Paris, - I hope you enjoyed them!), & Tourny Reports from time to time.

Poker 425 is owned by William Hill  The deal required more than just both parties doing their best - it required "support marketing". So Wiliam Hill decided that they would, from time to time, and in rotation with other Marketing Programmes - create a link between the William Hill Poker Room, & www.poker425.com. So when players leave William Hill Poker.com, they are sometimes redirected to www.poker425, in fact, I believe it links directly to the www.poker425 Forum. Which is, of course, the blonde Forum, which is simultaneously aired on the 425 site. Does that mean we are linked to William Hill? No idea, make of it what you will, it's a moot point, but not an important one. It matters not, to most of us I suspect. But we need to be ready in case we get other angle-shooters or conspiracy theorists doing their best to try & find scandal, where there is none.

The deal can be terminated by either party. So we intend to honour our end. We know www.poker 425 will do the same.

So that's it. Our Live Update Programme will continue for the foreseeable future. Already lined up are all the Grosvenor Festivals, Paris, all the EPT's, and we are in negotiation with Matt Savage for the The Monte Carlo Millions, and are hopeful we will be in Amsterdam for the Master Classics. But we will also be doing the smaller events, as and when time permits.

So the rest is up to you. The Live Updates only work because you guys interact with us.

We are grateful to www.poker425.com.

Everything will remain exactly as it has for the last 2 months.

This deal covers the Forum only. Other deals are beng negotiated, as we speak, for other partnerships, with other parties, (one of which I will advise you of tonight) both on the Main Site, and The Forum.

Enjoy!

as long as the forum continues to grow with the rigt spirit we can have no complaints. the increased traffic since the 425 deal hasn't altered the mood of the board so I'm happy

Good point Adam. It did concern us, but so far, it's been just fine.

As it grows, problems come with it. We will be alert to the problems of "big is bad", & will try & make sure the atmo remains as is.

I have got some help arriving in this respect, more of which later.

The problem is not whether there is a link, it is whether there is editorial control over the forum, there obviously is none of that so the deal is good all around.

I have no problem with the 425 tie up, I have complete trust in all at Blonde and firmly believe that they will never allow any potential sponsor/affiliate to infringe on their control of editorial comment...Besides as we all know, this is OUR forum and if it started to become compromised and became nothing more than a money making excercise for sponsors, im sure we would vote with our keyboards and stop posting.... But i cant see that ever happening, and if securing the future of the live updates has been settled then thats great news and bodes well for the future.

In short, nothing has changed and it's business as normal.

may i just say congratulations to all concerned, this has really started to become a monster project and i'm sure you didn't realise it could do so at the outset.
Obviously a lot of hard work has been put into the whole enterprise right from the start by a lot more people than the obvious one Grin
I really do wish this place goes from strength to strength and make a few quid for the folks who have invested their time and energy.

Any chance of a job?

I have only been a member of this forum for a short time, but it has quickly become the one of the first places I visit when logging onto the web.  Although not one for posting much (especially about serious poker!) I read all the posts with great interest.  I think this is an excellent Board and although you can tell some of you do know each other personally, I never get the impression of anyone's opinion being excluded just because they aren't in a 'click'.  Nor does it seem to be one sided in the favour of any one poker site, which seems to be the gist of this thread.

Erm......Lost my point but I think it was Well Done in securing another year and having a lovely friendly site!

Thanks to you all for those comments.

Yes, much hard work has gone into it so far, but the return has been a whole load of fun.

One of THE nicest things is that a lot of us get to meet each other at Venues. I don't know how to exprsss why I find that so nice, but I know I do. I used to have a few folks I knew at venues, now there are loads. A sort of "club", or community. Hard to explain, but it's just plain nice.
