The Wrestler is fucking amazing.
Mickey Rourke was oscar worthy and great in the ring, its possiby the most realistic 'hollywood sports' movie Ive ever seen and 100% accurate of what life is like for washed up wrestlers.

Marisa Tomei makes the film what it is, without her counterpoint to Rourke its just another hackneyed "failed dreamner" story. She gives the story its depth, fine performance and oscar-worthy.

If you have ever seen the documentary 'Beyond the Mat' I think Mickey Rourke comes across in almost the exact same way that Terry Funk and Jake the Snake did in that documentary.

Joobs and I have just finished watching The Stand.
6 fkin hours of a film! Obv based on the Stephen King book of the same name and it's prob the best book-film adaptation ive seen. Considering it was low budget-esque and I think originally made for TV, I was surprised to see such heavyweights (for the time) as Molly Ringwald and Rob Lowe starring in it. Also features Gary Sinise who comes across as the main lead perfectly.
Well worth a watch if you have the time - we split it into 4 parts and watched it over 4 nights.

Finally got around to watching "The boy in the striped pyjamas" tonight.
Maybe it's because I have seen many many documentaries and dramas on the second world war, but this film didn't impact on me very much at all ... I am aware that its target audience is families though, and if a film such as this causes children to ask questions and seek knowledge of the holocaust and its victims then that is a good thing.

I cant leave it there, that film has fucking wound me up tbh ... I wonder how many young people will see it and come away with sympathy for the German family and not even think about the horror of the holocaust.
I really wish I hadn't seen it now.

Eden Lake woohh that was disturbing stuff, and has an ending that is just sick...but very effective.
The hoodies have gone to a new level!
Agree. Slow start to the film (like a lot of British Films though) but well worth watching.
Donkey Punch is also worth a watch (not as good as Eden Lake IMO) and again a very slow start but stick with it.
Step Brothers - cracked up, especially with the bunk bed scene :-)
Wrestlers - ummm I gave up watching, not a fan of Mickey Rourke. Will give this one another shot.
The CCurious Case of Ben B - really want to see this
Bone Dry - an old film starring Luke Goss. If you like the kind of films that have a minimum cast and not a lot of dialogue then this ones for you. I've recommended this one before.
