Evening yourselves lovelys.  Welcome to the final land based chance to get a seat in the gorgeously sexy William Hill Grand Prix II.  Fantasticly, but not for those that missed out, tonight is a complete sell out.  We are talking 120 seats, all gone by 3pm today!!

I have clocked Tight End Mel and he is in, so is Booder who was clocked at 3pm, pint in hand - good lad! I shall pass on your warm wishes.

I feel like I am locked in a broom cupboard.  The only internet access is in the office which the Broadway very kindly let me use for the updates, but its not far at all from the action so i'm in business.  They bent over backwards to get us connected - so thanks guys!

Good luck wishes passed on guys.  Missed Rob Young and Ash Pervais off the list.  They have shuffled up and dealt and saw Paul King go all in first hand.  He lost to trip Jacks - rebuy!!!  Think we may have a few.

Compo and Paul Jackson are table buddies as are Ian Woodley and Surinder Sunar.

Didn't mention the guys are on a 30 minute clock.

Post by: Chili on September 27, 2006, 08:54:19 PM
Wow, rebuys are tough to keep track of.  Blinds have just gone up to 50/100 and we have had 53 rebuys in the first half an hour.

Forgot to mention that Tighty is on Alli Mallu's table and he said "I might be joining you soon for the updates."  Compo has had 2 rebuys already Paul Jackson has informed me and Compo's shade of Crimson confirms that he was telling the truth.  I asked if he had at least gone in ahead against Jacko but Mr Jackson replied for him "NO!"

An interesting table me thinks.  In one corner all cosy is Rob Yong, Jeff Burke & Welsh newbie wonder kid Roberto Romanello.  They are all talkers and P takers and the banter is awesome.

Rob just won a big pot with KK against 77.  A K and 7 were on the flop so all the chips went in.  Just to top it off for Rob the 4th King arrived on the river!  He immediately raised his 2 kings in the air and announcecd "quad kings, quad kings."  To which the manager came over and warned him for swearing!!!  A very bemused look overcame Rob.  LMAO

Lucy and Mad Turk are at the same table.  I think  battle may have been declared as Lucy has most of the chips on the table and Mad Turk is just sat there  - hunched over shaking his head.  Me thinks he has been Rokached.

Ash Hussain - 10,500

Rob Yong - 11 rebuys, no chips. (Really!)

And, wait for it.....

Ali Mallu - 27,500.....

Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix II @ The Broadway - Birmingham
Post by: Chili on September 27, 2006, 10:03:27 PM
Frenzy of activity before the rebuy ends.  With the average stack being 8,200 we have some big stacks.  Tighty was just telling me about Mallu.  He has been in every single hand AND hitting the flop every time.  Hitting trips, gutshots the works.  He has been staying out of his way but says he in poker hell being on the button when its Alli's big blind!! "What can you do?"

Compo 12k
Paul Jackson 16k
Iwan Jones  - 7 rebuys and OUT
Ian Woodley - 14k and 5 rebuys
Dave Lloyd - 13,500
Jim Reid - 12,000
Jeff Burke - 15,000

Gonna go for some food buys for 10 mins and then take down the final prize pool and how many buy ins and top ups the peeps have done tonight.

The Prize Pool is still to be confirmed, but it looks like £36,500. There is only ONE seat available, & with 34.5% going to the winner, that roughly equates to £12,000 for first - or, more correctly, the £6,000 seat & £6,000 on top!

We are off again.  Level 4 starts at 200/400.  We have 107 left with an average count of 10,000.

Tonight they amassed 173 rebuys and 63 add ons.  As soon as the prize split is put up you will here about it.  Off to get some counts now.  Kev, I hope Booder was playing it cool and returning to his seat late but he is now propping up the bar!!

Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix II @ The Broadway - Birmingham
Post by: Chili on September 27, 2006, 10:49:49 PM

Dave Lloyd 15,000

The Dazzling Cornelius Cronin from Smethwick 4,900

Jim Reid 10,700

Ash Real Shady Pervaiz 9,000

Chicken Joe 26,300

Des Bling Bling Jonas 6,700

Kevin O'Connell 14,000

Chunky Mick 19,300

Paul King 5,900

Sami 9,000

Title: Re: The William Hill Grand Prix II @ The Broadway - Birmingham
Post by: Chili on September 27, 2006, 10:52:47 PM

£36,600 is confirmed, so......

10th £920

9th £1,100

8th £1,460

7th £1,830

6th £2,200

5th £2,560

4th £2,930

3rd £3,660

2nd £7,320

And the winner is entitled to £12,620, being £6,620 in cash, AND the all-important (& very last) seat (valued at £6,000) for this year's William Hill Grand Prix.

Who do you reckon can take this down, then?

I think I have skills as an ante bokker.  Lucy Rokach against Chunky Mick.  After a flurry of raise, re-raise, all in, on their backs.  Mick had  Kh Ks and Lucy  Ac Ad.  No help for Mick and is down to about 1,500.  A nice double up for Lucy about 45k.

Just seen Steve Jelinek leaving the premises.

We are down to 90 players.

Guess who our chip leader is?  I won't make you wait. Its Alli Mallu.  Mad Turk and Ali now on the same table and Mr Turk shakes his head again whilst explaining how a guy just GIFTS Alli an early christmas present.  The guy had good chips but decides to go all in on Ali's raise with  Ad 9s.  Ali calls in a flash with  Aspades Js.  Alli now on a massive 59K.

The only other player close to him is Lucy with 52K and the rest lagging behind.

The average is only 13,200 and 81 players left.

Hehe, think I like that Red.

Meanwhile on Rob Yongs table.  Rob raises 2,300 which big Dave Smith smooth calls.  Next Jeff Burke goes all in for another 10.5K.  Rob thinks and passes (tens he later says).  Smithy calls with  Ks Kd.  Jeff had  Aspades Qh.

board comes 9 4 4 3 J

Jeff is left with a couple of grand and smithy doubles to about 22K.

Starting to fall a bit quicker now.  Down to 70 and the price of poker has gone up to 600 / 1,200.

M3boy had a bit of an accident.  Faced with a serial raiser on his table, Paul looks down at   Aspades Kc.  Paul re-raises to 4k and the original raiser calls.

flop comes down with 3 diamonds and the boys both check.  The turn is a fourth diamond and matey boy rechecks his cards.  Then goes all in.  Paul was faced with no option but to pass his A high.  Now down to 7k, but a chip and a chair he says and its time to grind.

OK, play has started, & the next three levels will see some serious grief.

With the ave stack at 19,300, & blinds 800-1,600, it's gonna start biting a bit sharp now.

They HAVE to play to a finish tonight, so we are in for a harem scarem 3 or 4 hours.

Monty Burns & Mr Cool are chilling at the bar, Dave looks well, bright & cheery.

They are playing a £3k comp in London on Thursday, then The Sportsman on Friday & Saturday, then, next week, it's the EPT Baden via, I think, Vienna. Very nice too.

Flop came

Paul now up to 19.5k.  Thought your tip was toast there ITB.

Lucy on a cool 66K and still racing with Alli for the chip lead.

Message for RookieITB (and Charmaine)  - M3boy is OUT and VERY unlucky he was too.

With 18K left and in the small blind with  8s  9s.  Cornelius limps under the gun and Paul makes up the blind with Woodley checking afer.  The flop is:

 7h  Th  Jh

Dazzler bets out 5K straight away and Paul goes all in.  Woodley gets out of the way and Dazzler calls and turns over

Kh  9h

OUCH!  Nothing would have stopped my chips flying in either.  Cornelius was playing crazy.  Re-raising with K 6. Raise UTG with 7 4 off!  Etc Etc.  Unlucky Paul.

How DO these things happen?

Lucy & Kev O'Connell clash. We see a flop of  9h Tc 5h

Somehow - how? - 73,000 chips find their way into the middle - Kev moves in, Lucy calls in a flash.

Their hands?

Kev had  Aspades Jd

Lucy had, well,  Ahrt 8c

Lucy seriously wounded, & busts out 2 hands later when all-in pre-flop with  Tc 7h & runs into the whopping  & dominating Kd Td

Eh? But these guys know exactly what they are doing, so not criticising, just open-mouthed with amazement!

We lost Mr Peters
Roberto Romanello  (99 v AJ)
and Rob Yong has now bitten the dust.  I think he loves to play flops but just saw him take a hit and then go all in for his last 20k with  Ad 2s.  He got called by KK though.

Agreed, she's playing for the win. He could also have flush draw, or no pair no draw, he's hardly a tight player. Also she has an overcard, backdraw nut flush draw and backdoor straight draw. Given these circumstances it's surely an instant call!!

When his mind is on the game, and he's not on tilt from blackjack.. I think he's one of the top 3 players in Britain.

And as I doubt there's any blackjack tables in a tv studio in Cardiff I reckon he'll be pretty focussed...

Lucy makes plays like this all the time. It's what makes her so very difficult to play against.

It is easier to steal from Fort Knox than it is from Ms Rokach.

Its difficult to pick Mallu or Dave Smith because they are both very capable of not making the final as much as they are to win the thing.

I will go for Ian Woodley.

The fact she called in a flash which Chilli said, for her whole Tourney with such a precious first prize and good place money makes it even WORSE.

Lucy makes plays like this all the time. It's what makes her so very difficult to play against.

It is easier to steal from Fort Knox than it is from Ms Rokach.

She CALLED the All In, thats some play........................................................................ rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao rotflmfao

Chilli u should not have reported that as u have just put her reputation down the toilet amongst the BLONDE ARMY. Ah well it was good whilst it lasted Lucy. ;tk; ;tk;

It was not Chili that reported it - it was me - tikay.

I reported the hand as played.

I have the utmost respect for Lucy, as a player, and a friend.

I did not understand the play, but the Lady is an awesome player, & we must all respect & acknowledge that.

I wasn't even being sarcastic, how can you say it's terrible play when we don't even know how what % of the chips went in preflop. We know it's 73k total, I'm guessing a decent chunk of that was in preflop and Lucy fancies O'Connell to move in on the flop if he misses.

Back to work - Chili again.  We have lost 2 players already.  C Gavrielle and Cornelius.

We had a raise from J Clements, a call from Mr Mallu and a re-raise from Cornelius.  Clements went all in and so did Alli and Cornelius called.  On their backs.

Clements  Aspades Ahrt
Alli Mallu    Ac Kh
Cornelius    Qh Qc

The bullets stood up and Cornelius was knocked out leaving Alli with about a 70k dent in his stack.  Clements upto 130k and we have 15 left.

Lucy obviouslly picked up some sort of tell.

For goodness sakes he was totally at it...

I've seen Lucy make some fantastic calls with very weak holdings...she went with her read and nearly got it right.

She is right far more times than she's wrong.

13 left. OUT is Ian Foster and just this second - Dave Smith.  Dave was down to 35k and pushed all in with  Aspades  6c but Woodley woke up with  Ahrt  Qs and sent Dave packing.

Ian on 125K.

Blinds are 4,000 / 8,000 with 10 minutes left at this level.

That was A CRAP CALL, whoever puts their chips in first there, with position should take that pot down which yer man had. I 've only been plaing 7 months, but if l'm making calls like that in 6 months, nevermind 25 yrs l want someone to give me a kicking and dump me in a ditch.

I go back out and we loose another 2 players.  Paul Jackson  (A Q) disposed of Rob Stevens (8 10) double suited PJ said.  Then Kev O'Connell knocked out Dino Constantinou.  Hand for hand now and as soon we are down to 10 I will try and get all the chip counts.

So 11 left.

We have a Final.  The unlucky bubble was K Chowdry (not too unlucky because they all did a £500 off the top deal for 11th and £120 to the staff.).  Adrian Bates raised, Chowdry went all in and Ali Mallu (again) went all in.  On their backs:

Chowdry  3d 3h
Bates       Ahrt Ac
Mallu         Ks Kh

Board was  7s 7h Td  4c 6c.  Bates took down about 100k but Alli actually made 100 chips from Chowdry's all in.  MMMm

I don't mean to be funny but has Lucy been around on the circuit for the last couple of years? her last recorded cash was Feb 2005 for €4700 in a €1k event. She picked up $8k in Jan 05 in a $2k US event. She got her buyin back on the ladbrokes cruise Oct 2004.

She of course won a Vic event in Oct 2004 for £50k, but since then nothing. Does she not play these events anymore? Has she moved online?

Your ego is quite astounding Sir.

What a great comp and turnout. Updates are great Chilli. Please wish Action "The Plodder" Jackson some luck. Not sure about these comments about Lucy Rocache, personally I think she is a very good player who is very brave in all situations, whether calling or raising. She has not been playing as many events over last couple of years, which would account for her lack of results, I don't actually know her that well personally. In Barry Greensteins book "Ace on the river", he descibes her as "probabaly the best NL hold'em female player in the world." She would have had a good reason to make this call, I am sure of that.

Right after that hand.  Kev O'connell raised 80k (blinds 10k/20k) and Woodley went all in for another 70k.  Kevin passed.  This puts Woodley upto around 220,000.

Falling like flies with blinds at 15k 30k.  J Clements is the next casualty in 6th place for £2,200.  In the BB it was only another 12k for PJ to put him all in.  Clements had to call with 9 10 and Paul had K 7.  No 9 or 10 came.

We are down to 5.

Instantly we have lost Kev O'Connell in 5th place for £2,560.

He moved in on a K 2 7 board with a 2 but he got called by Jones with K 7.  4 left now.

As I am typing David Leister goes out in 4th place for £2,930.  I was typing so missed it totally. Sorry.

We are down to 3.

Paul Jackson
Marcus Bebe Jones
Ian Woodley

And then there were 2.  Ian Woodley V ActionJack ALL IN preflop.

Woodley  Th 9c
ActionJack   Ac Td

Flop

 Jh Jc 6c

 8s  2h

So Ian Woodley is the 3rd place finisher with £3,660.

So Marcus V ActionJack heads up for the seat.  Incredibly Marcus has only been playing 4 months!!

And it is all over.  The winner of the last and final seat in the William Hill Grand Prix II is Marcus Bebe Jones!!

Jackson raised preflop with  Qc Qd  and Marcus called with  7c 8c.  The flop was

 Jh  8h 2s

Marcus moved all in and Jackson called.  The turn was

 5c  and the river

 8d  !!!!!

Commisserations to Paul Jackson the runner but takes home £7,320 and a massive congratulations to Marcus Bebe Jones who wins his seat as well as £6000 in cash.  Thanks to W Hill again for their hospitality and to the Broadway who were excellent in letting us use their office tonight.  I have to log off and goodnight to all.

this is part of the reason i havent been posting much on blonde lately, there is always someone who has to take things to far.Mick your usually a nice guy from what ive heard but i think that comment was totally uncalled for Lucy Rokash is respected by alot of people all over the country and fair enough most of us would never have made that call but thats how she plays.i dont know the woman but i know alot of people who do and they all say she is a fantastic lady.
i for one think she didnt deserve some of the comments made about her on this thread.

lost my first buy in with  Jd Td on a flop of  8d 9d Js against  8s  5c when turn and river gave him a boat

lost my next lot of chips with  Qd Qh against  Qc Ad on a q high flop when he made a straight

and just before the rebuys ended i reraised a button raise with  Ac Ks and walked into  Ahrt Ad

sometimes you just know its not going to be your night

Don't care what she has won, thats CRAP play and she wants to go and throw herself under a Train.
NO NEED

this is part of the reason i haven't been posting much on blonde lately, there is always someone who has to take things to far.Mick your usually a nice guy from what Ive heard but i think that comment was totally uncalled for Lucy Rokash is respected by alot of people all over the country and fair enough most of us would never have made that call but thats how she plays.i dont know the woman but i know alot of people who do and they all say she is a fantastic lady.
i for one think she didnt deserve some of the comments made about her on this thread.

i know im going to get slated, but hey whats new.

MissC l would never slate you m8, the throw herself under a train was a joke and l never slated her reputation as everyone knows she has done extremely well...............l merely stated that this was a VERY BAD CALL for someone as experienced as her with a great reputation plus the fact that the call was instantaneous.

Great stuff Chilli, you have done a great job at all three of the comps you have done the updates from.

Maybe  I shouldn't stir this pot but here's a hand from a vic £750 3 years ago that has never left my mind :

Mid way through , I can't remember details but blinds were 600-1200 I think (I'm not wrong by much)

Bambos makes it about 3 K to play from UTG

Called by a medium stacked tightish unknown player in seat 2

I decide it's Bambos's usual gumbo and make an all in stand with my 77 for around 7K

A few passes and then its round to Lucy who makes it 17 K to go so the action has been raise, call ,reraise, reraise,OK !

Gary Jones then raises again and  goes all in for around 40K , Bambos and matey boy fold, and its back to Lucy for around 60% to 70 % of her stack, maybe a bit more , Lucy calls with AK ?????

What on earth could Gary have , nothing other than AA of course.

The irony however is that after this decimation of her chips, she somehow recovers and wins the event , she can't do that with no skills.

Greg

Chilli u should not have reported that as u have just put her reputation down the toilet amongst the BLONDE ARMY. Ah well it was good whilst it lasted Lucy. ;tk; ;tk;

This may not be as stupid as you think Mike?

Updaters with Hand Histories on line, OK this is a large...ish comp, however, will you know where you stand with her next time you are on her table in a ME?

This debate on her play is probably doing her table image a world of good, and she is undoubtedly a world class player, with some world class moves, how much has this exposure cost her?

Sheer genius if you ask me.  ;goodvevil;

Personally I have a golden rule in poker that I never publicly criticise other's play, live or online.

There is simply no mileage in it imo, other than self-aggrandizement.

good point Karabiner...the "problem"  is you almost never have the full story...... about whats gone on before, table image, making a stand, chip counts, blind levels, stage of the tourney/game,rebuy or not, personal circumstances ETC ETC.
