Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies.
One thing i did not mention is the gym is very basic! I live in the sticks and its a village gym with only 1 or 2 of most things!
MAT: If you just want to add a bit of overall strength and you're only doing two sessions per week then I'd just keep it simple. Stick to basic strength movements such as deadlift, squats, bench press, overhead press and pull ups.
This sounds like what i need to do, should i start at weights that are easy to lift to start with? Is there any guide or just increase until I find the number or reps hard to achieve?
Will watch some youtube this afternoon and have a plan to start this week.
Is there any particular order you would do the above in? Deadlift, squats, bench press, overhead press and pull ups
Also, FYI i am weighing in at just under 12 stone atm and not very strong at all!
Hopefully keep you updated.

Hey guys, Great thread and been reading it with interest for ages.
I am looking to start building strength to compliment my running which I am going to be trying hard to improve this year.
I have a gym membership but only do cardio (so far).
To be honest I am unsure whats the best method to start? Just watch Youtube vids and give it a go or would you think I should pay for some PT sessions to get me going?
Will be looking to train weights 2 or 3 times a week? So it would be:
Monday - Weights
Tuesday - Run training w/ club
Wed - Weights
Thurs - Run (Longer/slower)
Friday - Nothing
Sat - Park Run (5k) then to gym for Hiit class (potentially alternate with a long run)
Sun - Hiit Class or Run
I do the above most weeks accept the Mon & Weds would be cardio in the gym (normally Rowing & Eliptical) at the moment so i just want to switch that to start trying to get stronger.
Any thoughts on this would be really helpful, is two sessions enough to make any difference?
Cheers!

RIP Kieth.
I remember getting this tune on a white label and dropping it in a club I was DJing at the time.
The place went mental! Think it was 1990.
Kieth was a dancer for the The Prodigy but became the front man later on, they were pioneers of the music scene and still managed to keep there music sounding fresh throughout the years.
Will be sadly missed.

Well done Sheriff. Great stuff.. please keep us updated with the 10ks. I must admit the Parkruns are great, i have always been a solo runner as its a good way for me to switch of from work for a while but now i am coming round to running as a group activity and will probably join a local club in the not to distant future.

To continue with Stormzy for a moment, I have to agree with Doobs's statement.
"Fair play to the fella, doing so well from his background"
The thing is, for me all rap is shite so I have no yardstick by which to measure his talent.
With proper singers I can make comparisons. For instance, on a descending scale of talent we might have say
Adele Taylor Swift Michael Crawford Max Bygraves Harry Styles Jedwood Robbie Williams
Can someone who 'gets' rap tell me where Mr Owuo Jr would sit in that list so that I can get a handle on things.
I have been listening to Hip Hop for at least 30 years so guess i have a reasonable handle on the subject, one thing here is although Stormsy is a rapper, he is a UK Grime artist rather than a Hip Hop rapper, it s different genre so to speak. So really you would want to know how does he rank in the Grime scene? I'm guessing he would be right up at the top of the UK scene. As for how he ranks in the all time of rappers, he wouldn't make my top 20.

cos theta = adj/hypotenuse
=> hypotenuse * sin theta = height => 5ft * sin 25(pi/180) = height => height = 2.11308989034ft
Incredible. I wish i could understand how you get to that.

Stopped in November due to work commitments and just started again.
Will just be doing a weekend run for a few more weeks then get back in to running everyday early March.
Times much slower but trying to avoid injury this year is key.
Good luck to everybody else running this year!

As someone mentioned earlier AI may be the way forward.. Interesting a couple of guys i have worked with in the past are doing this now https://www.aigaming.com/Ironically one of their projects is something to do with poker bots.. might be worth a look, i know they are working closely with Oxford University.
