I showed Mrs Red this post and her suggested reply consisted of just two words. Alas, both were unprintable.
Must have been her shortest utterance ever.
She has a shorter utterance which she resorts to with monotonous regularity, usually in response to my optimistic requests.
I'm told there are others who fare better....

For some reason, that made me think of her passing wind, though in my experience of the good lady, that is rarely a brief utterance, more of an elongated trombone note, all the way up & down the scale. Most impressive.

She would like to make it known that she is not limited to the brass section, she can do percussion as well.

Today I saw the sun and the moon in the sky at the same time. It was a three quarter moon, how is that possible, what was casting a shadow over the the forth quarter if not the earth?

It was the rest of the moon.
The sun is 400 times further away than the moon - if you imagine the positions they were in relative to the earth then you can see how it works.

The sun, moon & earth are currently (and usually) forming a triangle in the heavens. The sun is illuminating the moon from one angle and we're viewing it from another. Viewed from the sun, the moon would always be full. Viewed from the earth, the %age of the moon that is illuminated varies with the angle made between the sun, moon & earth.
This makes perfect sense to me. I've been mine sweeping leftover Christmas advocaat. Your mileage may vary.

Both sun and moon were above the horizon, the sun at about 8 o'clock and the moon at 2 o'clock, so I would therefore expect the shadow to fall on the lower portion of the moon, but it was on the upper portion (the 9 to 12 o'clock portion).
I can't grasp the significance of the distance the sun is away.

Haha! you knew I'd find that totally irresistible didn't you?
I could fill a thick volume trying to describe what we see in that 10 minute piece, another for the memories it evokes, and an equally thick addendum to explain which aspects are now illegal.

Lol!
That was just an of the cuff simile, I can't believe it's a real book title.
I bet it's crap.

Did you visit any bus stations in sunny Spain and sample their tapas?

Tony. I took this picture because I was curious to know if it means anything in isolation.

Yes and no. I did visit a bus station café with the intention of ordering tapas, but it was a genuine working establishment with no touristy translations on the menu.
I tried to work out what the ingredients were and most of them seemed to contain mollusks, crustaceans, and various other things that had been been found clinging to wet rocks or the bottom of boats. In the end I decided that discretion should be the better part of valour.
I did however discover some fabulous Portuguese custard pies.
