Title: Broadway Festival of Poker: Day 1 - Interactive
Post by: snoopy1239 on September 22, 2007, 03:30:34 AM
Greetings all from sunny Birmingham, the real capital of England  :hello:

After a long 12 days in London covering the World Series of Poker Europe, it's somewhat refreshing to be updating a mere two day event. Not only will the reduced field stop me from running around like a wasp on speed, but I might actually be able to pronounce some of the names instead of embarrassingly handing over my notepad and pen to random Scandies and feigning deafness in one ear.

However, there is one thing I'll miss from my recent Leicester Square excursion, and that'll be the all-dancing showgirls that showed up circa 10pm, merrily prancing away to Shirley Bassey's cover of 'Get this Party Started' and bending their legs in ways that would make a Russian gymnast jealous. I hear the Broadway are considering staging a similar stunt this weekend, but I'm not too keen on seeing Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) and Burnley John in spandex, even if it is a free performance!  :o

As you probably all know, the Broadway's latest shindig has been tootling along all week, and a few familiar faces have been tearing up the felt, the latest being the result of putting Monty Burns and Sven Goran Erikkson into those pods in The Fly film... Mr Dave 'El Blondie Colclough, last seen running over the £500 final.

Here are the other results from this week:

£100 NLH R/B, 101 runners:

Title: Re: Broadway Festival of Poker: Day 1 - At A Glance
Post by: snoopy1239 on September 22, 2007, 03:42:39 AM
Last time I was here, Praz (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=353) Bansi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=353) was running rings around the field, taking down February's Main Event for a remarkable £32,550 and proving that his bracelet win was far from a fluke. And if that wasn't enough, he'd only gone and won the inaugural GUKPT in Bolton less than four weeks prior - not a bad month for the Hit Squadder!

Anyhow, what struck me about last time around was the wonderful structure. These days, most main events have been forced to adopt excellent structures in order to compete in the ever expanding tournament market, but from what I recall, the January event at the Broadway possessed one of the best I'd seen. 15k chips, 60 minute clock, every level under the sun - skill was truly given the utmost chance to prevail, and if you need proof, just head back to the live updates and see how long that bubble took! Good lord, I grew a beard waiting for that last chap to drop.  ;grr;

Whilst Jen was my partner in crime that night, my colleague this time around has yet to be unveiled. I will, however, release a few clues:

(1) The mystery updater is in between the ages of 20 and 80 (ie. not tikay).

(2) The mystery updater has one head.

(3) The mystery updater is secretly in love with a certain Beagle and would snap him up in a jiffy if he wasn't already taken. (http://forum.woweb.ru/html/emoticons/girl.gif)

I'm sorry, that doesn't narrow it down too much, especially that last one... I mean, back at school, the lads used to call me the Pied Piper of Norkage. It's the physique they love, feel the steel! (http://senocular.com/smilies/muscle.gif)

Still, any guesses??

See you at 6pm!... and if there's anyone that you want us to keep an eye on, then post their name on this thread and we'll do our best to keep you informed. Remember, this in an interactive update, so please feel free to interact with the updates whenever you see fit. We don't bite, well, the mystery updater does.  ;)

I'm not sure, as they failed to send any results through. I know Jen played and didn't quite make it, but I believe she might be putting in an appearance anyhow.

I hear 20 or so seats were produced, so numbers this weekend shouldn't be too low.

You don't have a beard, that's adolescent bum-fluff. Get the cat to lick it off.

I have been unable to play The Broadway this week due to work commitments on Thursday & Sunday, which ruled out Wednesday's £300, Thursday's £500, & the Main Event. On Sunday, I'm with Poker Week, we are going to the Litten Tree Pub in High Wycombe to film a "Poker Project" Pub League Final. It's sad that work gets in the way of playing sometimes, but I can't have it both ways.

But I'm in London tonight, seeing a man about a dog. First time in ages, & I'm very nervous......

Hi all, I am indeed alive, but my computer isn't I'm afraid, the Broadway's 100 year old router taking a particular dislike to the Mac brand. And on that note, I believe I hear the distant cheer of the dozens of Mac haters blowing up the party baloons and etching 1-0 on the scoresheet.

However, we are at least posting, the lovely IT guy being called up last minute to spark Maria's rusty laptop into action. Also jumping into life is the Broadway, today's £1,000 Main Event now up and running with Level 1 being that dear old friend, Mr 25/50.

Armed with our brand spanking new camera and our trusted notepad and pens, we hope to bring you some hot level 1 action in the very near future, so watch this space! Word on the Chili vine is that we already have an exit...

N Blatchey is indeed here, not much change in his chips, but just keeping his head above water would be an achievement, his fellow tablemates being an eclectic, but highly challenging mix of players:

Ceaser Giagnotti
Mohammed Hassan
Steve Jelinek
N Blatchey
Stuart Rutter
Jen Mason
Frankie Knight
Michelle Shiels

There has been an exit and double up already,  An unfortunate Panos Panayi raised it up with  Ad Kd and was called by Matt Tylers  Qc Qh.  I didn't see the hand board itself but am informed that Panos turned a nut flush draw, whilst Matt was going nowhere with trip queens.  I assume all the chips went in then and there and Matts trips improved to a house on the river.   Great stack already for Mr Tyler.

Panos just a few minutes later said to Snoops "I had a massive hand and I couldn't get away from it!"  A few of us may have had to have our £1,000 stretch a little longer.

Also a late arrival is a local and very happy Stuart Fox, joining a table with Alli Mallu, Ash Hussain and Barry Neville, actually named "Table large boy"  Pic to follow.

Crikey O'Reilly, we've had another exit, it's as if no one wants to play today! This time, the victim is D Ruparellia, the latest to crumble under the magnifying glass of PI Dick Slade. In full investigative mode, poker's favourite detective looked his opponent up and down like a piece of raw meat as he mulled over a 3,125 all-in on a  5c Qc 8c 9h board. Ruparellia looked calm under the Slade spotlight, but the Prestonian wasn't convinced, calling, and correctly so, a third of his stack with Qs 4s. Ruparellia sheepishly revealed an inferior 9s 7s and one harmless Aspades river later and it was all over for Ruparellia, Slade left to bask in the glory of all the "good call" compliments from his neighbours. Watch this space for updates on the size of Slade's head.

Jen says, "slow, slow slow so far" and Julian is about 5k up after hitting i believe, a house, a flush and a straight - 2 of those against the same guy.  Also, drumm rolllllllllllllllll please, there has a been another exit.  On a board looking like this:

 6d  9d  Ts

A Abbassi makes a 1k bet against Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419) Fox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419), who things for a few seconds before pushing his entire 12.5k ish stack ALL IN.  With  Ad Kd.  Abbassi shockingly instantly calls with  7d  8d.  With a blank turn and  2d for a nasty river, Mr Abbassi is out and Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419) Fox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419) may aswell go and stand for a couple of hours at the bar - in fact he might  ;)

Arriving fashionably (if this guy can ever be fashionable!) late is a somewhat intoxicated Mr Fox. Although the near bracelet winner is denying his alcohlic antis prior to this event, he is clearly blurry eyed and chatting more than Parkinson in his prime. This go-to-the-pub-beforehand regime seems to be working out for him though, as the now shaven headed Brummie is up to a rather staggering 22.5k after just one level. The question is, can he last the day on his current booze mission?

In fact, how about this for a question... How many beers do we put Foxy on by the end of the night?

Excluding his pre-match warmu-up, he's currently finishing off his first pint. Any guesses? I'm going for 8.

Good Lord, is that the bizarre sound of a 4th elimination I hear? Yes, my ears do not decieve me, as incredibly, we've lost yet another. This time around it's local boy Chris Gavriel, who finalled in the February festival here. No luck this time around, table neighbour Dean Mitchell snipering him off with A-T versus A-9 on an Ace high Flop.

In fact, Mitchell was slightly surprised about the turn of events: "I couldn't believe it," he retold. "I called his raise and bet out on an A-T-rag flop. He moved all-in with A-9 and I called."

The Hewston/Mallu style of play not quite working for Chris this time around, but I'm sure we'll see him back in the fray soon.

Arriving fashionably (if this guy can ever be fashionable!) is a somewhat intoxicated Mr Fox.

6. Then he'll pass out.

Wandering around the card room, I always see Mad Turk in a hand or commenting about a hand.  He is involved in most pots, talking during every move and action, and when it goes wrong says "well u gotta try havent you?"  Well trying he is and his stack is up to a healthy 24k already.  He told me that he promised Ash Pervais that by the time he arrives at Broadway about 8.30pm tonight, he was gonna be chip leader... He certainly is keeping true to his promise.

Dave Colclough has a lively table sat next to a certain Con Cronin aka "the dazzling cornelius from smethwick."  He keeps quoting god so I stopped listening hehe.

Gonna attempt the posting of some pictures now guys.

Am I being stupid? What did Stuart Fox have?

And update on Neil Blathley please?

Unfortunately for our Liverpudlian followers, Sir George (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=154) Geary (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=154) of Grindsville has suffered a shock early exit at the devilish hands of our favourite Super Mario lookalikey Essy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=141) Jahanpour (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=141), a well known player around these parts.

With Essy raising it up pre-flop with A-Q, a raising war of epic proportions entailed between the two players on a Q-Q-3 rainbow flop: Essy to 300, George to 2,000, Essy to 6,000 and George all-in before Essy called quicker than a hare riding a cheetah on a Japanese bullet train (surreal image, I know, but let's go with it).

George showed Q-9, and two rags later he was a gonna.

I'm afraid we could be vacting the premises come Sunday afternoon as Con Cronin has just threatened to run around naked if Gez Morris wins this comp.

It took me 5 years to get rid of the image of Buffalo Bill groaning like a wounded animal, 10 years to rid my befuddled mind of the Exorcist girl spinning her head round, and now it could be another 20 years before I stop having nightmares about Con Cronin from Smethwick dazzling us with his er... testicular prowess.

Let's hope Morris is a bad as Cornelius seems to think he is. Gulp!

I'm a bit er... camera shy at the moment because the flash is more startling than the elephant man in an overcoat, but I grabbed a few piccies during the break. Will also try to snap one of Neil when they return.

In the meantime, I was lucky enough to hear a few half-time stories, one from the ever-consistent Marcus Bebb-Jones who is bouncing up and down like a spring on a trampoline. He first neared the felt when his set of queens was bust on the river by a K-T which made a... ahem, Broadway straight before trebling back up to 8k with 7-5 versus two sets of A-J on a tasty A-5-5 Flop.

On a sidenote, I can confirm that the double-barrelled surname is not the result of a loss of power when marrying his current wife. He's the man of the house, much like Chili who has informed me that she's not giving up her familiy name if she is to get married. Glenn Demetriou... hehe.

Personally, I'm the same, I wear the trousers in my relationship and I have Dana's permission to say so.

Balancing her time more efficiently between playing and updating, Jen 'Mrs Merton' Mason is out there in the battlefield still, albeit slightly bamboozled after being knocked down to the 7k mark by Neil Blatchey.

Bit of an odd one really, and one in which Jen confesses that she could have played better. It was Neil who got the ball rolling, raising to 300 pre-flop, Jen calling with A-K. An A-J-4 flop, and Neil bet out 500, Jen again disguising her hand with a sneaky, but ultimately risky smooth call.

The turn was a Queen, and yet again, Neil fired a bullet, this time 800. Guess what... Jen called.

The river came a 5 of spades, making a possible runner runner flush on the board. I don't need to tell you what Neil did, I think you're detecting the pattern here. 1,600 on this occasion, but low and behold, out comes Jen with a raise to 3,600, confident that she's ahead. Even if she isn't, she felt Neil could fold with the flush on board as she had the Ace of spades.

However, things soon went sour for Jen when Neil announced that he'd finally hit his hand, chucking in a call and showing 7s 6s. Eek!

The only thing dazzling about dazzling Con Cronin from Smethwick today will be the dazzle of the sun in his eyes as he exits the casino, the veteran exiting at the hands of fellow midlander and "I'm on a good run. Wooooo! Wooooo!" Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95).

I didn't catch the hand, so I had to rely on the sometimes shaky versions of the rest of the table. With Essy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=141) Jahanpour (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=141) claiming Dave had Js 5s and Burnly John throwing Js Ts into the hat, it wasn't until Julian confirmed it was Js 8s that we finally got some genuine answers. Thinking Mr Thewy was the way forward, I asked what the flop was... ugh, big mistake, the subsequent dialogue exchange between the three feeling more like a group of OAP's trying to remember what film they watched in the nursing home. After a lengthy wait, it was concluded that Con had T-9 and made a straight against Dave's turned flush on a 6-7-x-8 board, all the money going in on the river.

Updater/poker player extra-ordinaire Jen Mason has just been boshed (new word there!) out of today's comp, raising it up pre-flop with A-T and being called in three places. The flop doesn't appear to be a bad one for Jen, Td 8d 8s, and she understandably bets out 1k. However, Seat 9 on the button seems to like it even more, and makes it 3k to play, more than enough to get the other players to fold... but not Jen, who after mulling it over for a while and, in her own words, concluding that he "wouldn't have Aces or Kings after smooth calling pre-flop" pushes all-in for her remaining 6k.

Unfortunately for the Hampsteadonian, her opponent was indeed being cute with Kings, and, after a few seconds dwell, did indeed make the call. Jen turned a flush draw, but to no avail as the river came a rag.

"I thought there were many hands he could be making that play with," said a dejected Mason, "the only one I was worried about was Jacks."

I'm doing my utmost to resist the Basil Brush gags here, but I'm not sure I've got it in me, the amusingly named Roger Brush crashing out at the hands of Sir Barry Neville of Sheffieldness.

All the money went in on a J-7-6 flop, Barry sweeping up is opponent with J-7 versus K-J. No King on the turn and river and Barry had outfoxed Mr Basil and sent him plummeting to the rail with a thud. Boom Boom.

A 7-8-9-T-J board and several gasps later and 13k was sent sliding over to the sweaty palms of an overjoyed Ash... who, incidentally, has been nicknamed Travolta Hussain as a result of his overly slick white jacket.

Keith Swain is also a gonna, his K-2 no match for Mateyboy's Q-T on a K-A-J-2 board.

"I can't believe he called," added a flabbergasted Nick Slade, "There was only a thousand or two in the pot and the guy overbet it by shoving in over 5k. There's only one hand he can have."

Comeback of the evening goes to Michael Artemis who 2 hours ago had 600 chips and is now sitting on a glorious 24k.

We have a couple of sly exits, one being KK held by Nick Slade against the AQ of Andrew Psaras.  It was raise, reraise, all in preflop and Nicks Kings stood the test.

Also no details but Ken Broad is also out.

Matt Tyler is now our chip leader with 45k.

58 players left average is just over 16k.

Eek, scratch that, Mickey Wenick's just been bashed down to the felt by the foreboding fist of Trevor Reardon. A downhearted Worm retold the story himself, reporting of how he went in on a Qc Jc 7c board with Ac Qs, ran into Big TR's set of Jacks and failed to improve.

The very next hand, he shoved all-in for what looked like 1,725, Trevor, fittingly, being the one to fold the big blind and allow the Legend to fight another day.

John Deeley could have been in Martin Scorsese's recent Oscar winning flick, not because he's a double-crossing murderer, but because he's just Departed.

John Deeley = Kc Tc

Dean Mitchell = Aspades Ahrt

all-in on turn of... Ks 9h 5s Ac

River = 7d

And another one bites the dust at the hands of Dean Mitchell. "Those bloody Mitchells!" as they used to say in Eastenders.

And the call of the day award goes to...

That's Mad Turk, just in case nobody got the Catchphrase-esque clue - I thought Yucel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=782) Eminoglu (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=782) might have been a bit tricky.

Anyhow, what a call it was, and one that led to the untimely exit of the far from timid Ken (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=231) Broad (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=231). It was Ken who actually started the action, raising it up to 800 pre-flop and being called in two places, Peter 'The Bandit' Evans and Turk in the blind.

The Flop came 8c 9c 2d and everyone checked. The turn was the 3d, which led to Turk betting 3k, Ken raising to 7k, Bandit folding and Turk flat calling.

River time, and the dealer popped out a seemingly irrelevant Qs, but it was one in which seemed to trigger an all-in from Broad for 14k after the Mad Turk had checked.

Think tank time, but Turk eventually made a truly class call for all but 1.5k of his chips with Pocket Fives, catching his opponent and his Big Slick with fingers firmly clinging onto the side of the cookie jar.

Could anyone else have called that? I told Yucel I would have made the call easy peasy, and a few seconds quicker than him (cough).

There has been a flurry of exits the last 15 mins.  After Mickey (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) Wernick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) went down to 2.5k, he called a small raise with  8d  6d against Ram (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=358) Lakha (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=358).  The flop came:

Qd  Ts  2d  all the chips went in from Mickey with his flush draw but Lakha called with  Ks  Qh for top pair and no improvement for Mickey meant his exit.

Lakha is the small stack annihilator also disposing of K Vasilliou's  Aspades  Kd with a mighty  6c 6h.

Another casualty is Peter "the bandit" Evans but sorry neither of us saw his exit happen.

We have 52 left on an average of 18,500.

Short break and 200 / 400 on their return.

Peter Evans is actually out now and very cruelly so too.  I caught it when Peter had gone all in on this board:

 6s   4d 9h  8d

Ram Lakha dwelled but called with   7s  7h against Peter's flopped set  9s 9c

The river was the cruel  Tc and Lakha improves his stack.

47 left average 28,000

Out, I think we mentioned it earlier. Steve Jelinek's followed him out the door too, getting it all-in with K-T (straight draw), but being picked off by Tony Cartwright's A-Q on a Queen high board. The cheeky monkey had checked his top pair on the flop.

Stuart Fox takes a hit with his AQ v KK all in preflop, no ace came and he was left with 7.5k.  Five minutes later, Stuart not happy to sit with his 7.5k he got it all in with AJ this time against 10 10, no help for Stuart and he is now OUT.

Ben "benwoo" Callinan miraculously FLOPPED a royal flush, bet out but everyone passed and he was only 2k the richer.  Although some shouted out "I bet the DNA is still in his pants after that flop"

With Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419) Fox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=419) recently hitting the deck, he is soon joined by mischevious running buddy Peter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=345) Haslam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=345), the young whipper snapper getting his shortstack in with Pocket Jacks, but running into the... cue Chris de Burgh... "Laaaaaaaadies in Red" of R Simmonds which stood up effortlessly on a 5-4-A-8-5 board.

And on that note, the FOX REPORT comes to an abrupt end, the final count being 9 pints. Well done Foxy, a job well done. Did anyone guess 9?

Come on then, let's pick a winner. Some big names still in... El BLondie, Ali (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=23) Mallu (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=23), Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=309) Slade (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=309), Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274), Mad Turk, Greek Jack, Des (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=129) Jonas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=129)...

I'm going for Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274), he seems to be in good spirits after a relatively low profile year. He was playing for the sake of playing before, but now he's playing because he wants to, so he's my pick.

Greek Jack is out at the hands of Welsh Dave.  Jack starts with 12k and raises it up, Dave makes a huge reraise something like 22k, everyone passes and Jack goes all for the remainder of his chips.  On their backs and Jack shows JJ and Dave shows AQ, a Queen flops and Jack is a gonna.  Here are some chip counts from that actual table.

Dave Colclough 60k (after Jack hand)
Mad Turk  24k
Adam Wilkinson  11k
Julian Thew  52k
Burnley JOhn  16k
Barry Neville  15k

Fireworks table me thinks.

As I spot Ronny Kotecha on the cash tables, thus, I assume, meaning he is long gone, I hear a boyant, uncharacteristic scream of delight come protruding from the other side of the room.

"COOOOOOOOOME OOOOOOOON!" screams Burnley John, his all-in with Kings versus El Blondie's A-K surviving a 9-8-2-9-J board.

I don't where exactly he wanted us to go, but I was doing whatever he said. I've never been that scared before!

As I meander over to the adopted TV table I'm just in time to see shortie G Morris push for his last 3,600.  There was one caller but DC would not allow it and reraised another 10k.  Matey passes and its on their backs.

DC  Js Jh
G Morris   2s 4s

Board is a sad state of affairs for the lad Morris

 6c  6h  2h  4c  5d

He out and Dave adds more to his ever growing stack.

El Blondie's on fire...he's my pick for this one.

Good pick, he's in top form, but I'm afriad you've mini bokked him as he's just doubled up table neighbour and Irishman-now-residing-in-England Adam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=11) Wilkinson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=11).

Colclough raised it up to 3.2k from the button, and swiftly called with Ac Qh when Wilko pushed for circa 7.5k with Tc Ts.

His head bowed down in the strange posture that only Dave adopts, El Blondie looked on curiously as the dealer popped out a clinical 4s Th 7h.

Wilkinson, now standing in anticipation, looked relieved, but there was a slight moment of panic when the Turn came a 4h, but it soon dawned on the Midlander that he'd made a full house and had his opponent drawing dead.

Speaking of Gez Morris, his brother is also here, Jamie Morris pictured below during one of the breaks.

The remaining half of the Morri (I'm reliably informed that is the plural) is plugging away nicely with 29k.

The shiny headed but very amicable Marcus Bebb-Jones is also gone. He's one of the Midlands' most consistent performers, but he's going to have to wait till next time to cash in a Broadway Main Event, his swan song being A-9 (button) versus Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274)'s Pocket Cowboys (yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, ride em cowboy!) in the small blind.

"Took ages with those kings," reported Slade. "He still had the big blind behind him though, so we'll let him off."

Some stuff thats gone down, Rob S thought it would be grand to double up Alli Mallu (well not really, but I bet he regrets it in the end).  KQ but Alli pushes with K9 and hits his 9.

Michelle Sheils is out, her  8d 8c was looking good on a  3h 4d 6c flop, she went all in for her last 5k and was called by  Ahrt  Jh who rivered an ACE - ouch.

Nick Slade is out too, Michael Artemis limps for 800 and Nick raises to 5k with his  Ks Kh.  Artemis calls with  Ahrt 7s, after the flop Nick moves all in for 4k more and Artemis having already hit his ace calls and Nick is OUT.

MASSIVE hand just happened now to follow.......

JUST caught this clash of the titans.  Dave C raised preflop to 2,200 and was called by Barry Neville & Julian.   THe flop was

 7s  6s  8d

Julian bets out 4.5k and Dave reraises another 15k, Barry gets out of the way and Julian moved all in - Dave called and they turned over the following hands:

DC   Aspades  Ts
JT   Qd  9h

Turn   5h

River  8d

Julian had Dave covered and pull in a massive pot worth nearly 100k.  Action as Dave exited:

sooooooooo 32 players left and 30,100 average.

Just before I compiled those chip counts, Mojid Khan doubled up with the bullets (bang bang!  ;snoopy'sguns;) against Ben (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=44) Callinan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=44)'s somewhat pale in comparision K-2 suited. That initially paltry hand soon got Mojid shaking his head in fear though when the first card out was a 2, but a 6-8-9-4 rainbow board later and Mojid could finally exhale and scoop up those 25.3k in chips.

Mad Turk has been made even madder recently, his A-Q busted by Barry Neville's A-J, the Knave on the river causing the normally jester-like Turk to bang the table in disgust and mumble under his breath for a good few minutes after. Turk now has just over 10k.

With only 20 mins left of the night, people seam to be in double or bust mode.  Matt Tyler knocks out Frankie Knight and when I ask Matt what happened he says "he was bloody at it."  In reality Frankie was very low and raised with  9h  7h but Matt decided he would be pushed off with a reraise from his  4s 2h.  Frankie was not pushed off but went all in and didnt see the board but poor Frankie is on the motorway at the moment.

All-in with Queens versus Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274)'s A-K, Ben's coin was buttered the wrong side as it fell Big Slick up, the board bringing a Js 4h Ks 7s 3h to send Benwoo to the sidelines.

It's a slightly belated 'stick a fork in me', but I thought I ought to offer a quick word of praise to Keith and all the other staff at the Broadway Casino who were a great help today under difficult circumstances. With Chili not owning a mobile data card and my new one censoring my access to gambling and 'dirty sites' (not that I wanted to get on them!), it was looking increasingly unlikely that an update would occur. However, the Broadway did whatever they could do get us connected to their internal wifi and, even though my Mac acted as a repellent to the 100 year old router, finally managed to sort Chili's laptop out at the very last minute to save the updates.

So, even though it was a tricky day on just one laptop instead of two, a big thank you to the Broadway, especially for the free baguettes they offered us half way through the night.
