136  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Post bust-out handshakes on: August 21, 2012, 01:29:03 AM
I've definitely always been one for trying to get away as quick as possible. I'm sure I must have come across as rude by doing this at times but in that 30 seconds or so as you bust it's just so painful. I've tried to get better at it but it's tough

Have had a couple of Hevad Kahn's who've wanted to shake my hand after they've regained their composure and have declined but apart from that I'll accept if they want it but very rarely (almost never) offer it - a simple good luck all does the job for me

At the GPS final the other week, everyone seemed to want to shake hands when I busted. I went with it but wanted to get away (you know that most are celebrating on the inside when someone busts so there is something disingenuous about it which is why I prefer not to). I remember the guys at the other end of the table were trying to come round to shake hands too and it was all taking a bit too long so I just acknowledged them and said good luck. I did make sure I went back later to shake their hand just in case they thought I was rude. Prefer to lose (and hopefully win sometimes) as quietly as possible

Neteller used to charge for P2P, it is currently free.  I don't believe this is a permanent thing, but obv it is, that's something to consider also.

Some of the piddly gaming sites are barred from VIP promos (presumably people have used these sites to game the promotions) and they can and do remove VIP status from people that try and rip it.  That said, a pro gambler is entitled to win a few grand on one site and go skint on a different site and need to balance up.

Yes, and wasn't the Neteller charge a % of the transfer which certainly didn't work out at less than $1 at least when I had tried it
138  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Skrill on: August 20, 2012, 01:11:32 PM
I will answer both questions at once, as my spidey sense leads me to believe they may be linked...

'Transact' means with a recognised merchant, not P2P with your best mucker who ships you back so that you both get in...  The P2P charge is variable depending on size, but I have never noticed being charged any more than about 70c and often a lot less than that.

However, a pro gambler should have no problems transacting sufficient with poker sites to meet entry level requirements...

Actually they weren't linked, was more thinking along the pro gambler line who might deposit and withdraw a large amount to a poker site and instantly become VIP. I notice actually that most poker sites are on the restricted list that don't count towards VIP status. I couldn't find Pokerstars on the list though

The P2P thing was me just wondering how efficient it is as a way to stake/send money to people given how hard it is on certain poker sites to be able to do that

Also, if there are no charges, wouldn't if be very easy to meet the "transacting" requirements to get through the VIP levels? Pretty sure I'm missing something there...

What are the charges to send money to others on Skrill (person to person transfers)?
141  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: HSBC closing my account down... which is best bank to go with? on: August 18, 2012, 12:33:13 AM
I've had more bank issues than hot dinners...

I have accounts at Natwest and Lloyds TSB, most bigger money movements now are from Lloyds and I frequently get phonecalls from my manager (who is an avid poker fan luckily) asking me to cut the number of third party transaction down (payments between poker players basically) the reason being that they have to security check every one and when I'm doing 15 in a week it makes the account unmanageable. In a bid to avoid this I have my two accounts at natwest, which are used mainly for living purposes and 2 at Lloyds with my $ account separate, as a result split between the 4 accounts I can do as many 3rd party Xfers as I want without causing any problems. I really think this is the best option.

Like Keys' said having a good relationship with your manager is great because now If I wanted to a payment of like £5k+ I just email the guy half an hour before warning him and he is always grateful. Since starting with this system I've had no problems at all.

Also, use moneybookers as well, helps cut this stuff.

SO my advice is to try get 2 accounts and split activity between them, that way you should avoid these problems.

Your bank manager has to review 3rd party payments over £5k? What, before they get sent? And you message him to let him know you are making one 1st?

Really can't get my head around this.

I know some sites have an XML feed with upcoming tournaments listed but not all sites will I guess

Main problem is going to be out of date data otherwise, obviously

Do you remember the time Karl, I, you and IrishDenis made the final 4 at the Western?

Things did not go too smoothly on that final either....lot of water flown under mutual bridges since then!

I don't remember this one?

Just a minor midweek Western Tuesday night £100(?) buy in

I'm guessing 2007 or 2008

We made the final four

A couple of us wanted to chop (stupidly, probably, but it was sort of the way back then) you said no...

Someone who shall remain nameless was knocked out fourth, so we chopped.

:-)

Lol, FML.

Me again?

Thanks for the kind words and slightly less for the photocall....

Not seen Mick Cook for years, the last time might have been at that place in St James Street, Walthamstow, Equal Chance.

I just Hendon-Mobbed him, & he does not appear to have had a Tourney Cash since 2008, so I hope he is OK. I somehow cannot imagine him doing anything except play poker. Oh, & watch Songs of Praise, of course.

Funnily enough I made a final table with him recently. Definitely the same now as he was back then. At the Vic you now have to sign a disclaimer for them to be able to send your results to THM/Card Player. There was only one person who refused. It was the same person who also refused the obligatory final table photo. I guess he likes to keep himself to himself for whatever reasons. See if you can work out where he finished http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=70432

I got 2 young guys trying to do me outside the casino whilst walking across the road to the taxi rank and I was doing my best to be vigilant and did nothing to attract attention (other than being 7 ft tall)

They started trying to show me some "football" move which involved wrapping his leg around mind and putting his hand in my pocket to see what he could get. All kind of happened quicker than I could realise what was going on. Luckily I wasn't carrying anything anyway (confirmed busto)

Have to say put me off going back there

Have to say I'm a little bit disappointed that a Genting rep was not allowed to reply to Fraser's post and address his concerns regarding the GPS. I do understand the political situation and respect that the forum and its owners/sponsors can allow what they want on their own site, but surely a right to reply is still allowed if done in a professional and "non-spammy" way?
