;angelic; Hmmm. Living and working in Salzburg, I know that this fine city has an ARCH-Bishop rather than a bishop. I am not certain of his propensity for self-abuse, but not being of the catholic faith, in my opinion, you can call him whatever you like. God Bless, Mike

Guys, I feel compelled to add my thanks and congrats for what was a wonderful event yesterday. As always Tony and his happy band of moderators created a terrific event with a unique atmosphere. But if I may, I would like to add a few personal thank-you's to..... The staff and dealers at Grosvenor Walsall for the superb service, especially dealer Chris for the to go with my & Rag for a Royal. Jim-D for taking the above beat so well. Thewy for sharing snippets of info and just being a great bloke. Ralph "Karabiner" for the lunchtime chinwag. Danafish for the best hair I have ever seen in a poker tourney. RichTighty for the encouragement when I got to the final. matt674, his monkeys, his outrageous bluff in the final......and for taking me out in 7th place (Cheers!) and to Simon Nowab for knowing it means for a novice like me to make a final.....and plenty of encouragement when I bounced out. Playing against the greats can only improve your game, and Simon is a true great. But when anyone asks me what I did at the weekend, I will say "I just went back to England and played a game of cards with some friends......152 of them!!!!" Thanks Folks.....You are the best! Mike

If I may be so bold as to add my two-pennyworth to the discussion, having been lucky enough to witness a couple of great young players who we are all proud to call "Fellow Blondeites". I watched Rich Gryko dismantle a strong field which included Dave C, Marcel, Isabelle etc. in Vienna 18 months ago. He did it with style and class and only succumbed to Ursus Blumenthal (Swiss guy) after a nasty outdraw when heads up in the final. His aggressive "pedal to the metal" style of play is remarkably similar to........ .....Our Foxy! In the manner of a friendly assassin, Stu has put many great players to the sword and done it with good humour and a few lagers Walsall and Luton Main Event cashes plus Ladbrokes Cruise and now a 3rd and 2nd at the WSOP confirm him as one of our greatest twenty-somethings. I, for one, will be present when he collects a bracelet in Nevada next year! On a personal note. Stu and I were born in the same post code, so my pride in a guy who got Ed Giddins vote as "the player to watch" in 2006 is enormous. Stand by to watch these 2 young Gladiators of the Felt in a big final somewhere soon! You will see some sparks fly for sure, but it will be the skillful poker playing that grabs the headlines. Take a bow, gentlemen. You've earned it. Good guys, both on the table and off. Mike

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from: langboy on March 03, 2006, 04:51:04 pm Guys,
This tournament is as good as over, especially now that Foxy is in the deep stuff.
I have seen Siegfried Stockinger play and he is just awesome. With a big stack he is even better.
He is the finest 7 Stud player that we have here in Austria, but he can put a terrific read on just about anybody and is rarely wrong.
It is a race for 2nd place now, I'm sad to say.
Mike
From what I've heard, it may be difficult to disagree with you on this 1.
All the homegrown players here are bigging up Stockinger and saying what a cracking player he is.
I believe he's a smashing Omaha player too.
Hi Again Peeps,
Not wishing to sound like a smart ass, but does anyone remember reading the above post on Friday afternoon???
Ahem, ahem...... I thank you.
Mike

Massive pot. Ernst raises to 95k from the small blind. J Plens moves all-in from the big blind. Ersnt calls and confidently flips over Jonathan shows First card out = Bang. Rest of the flop = It's looking grim, not even a straight draw possibility. Turn = and then... remarkably River = SPLIT POT Are you sure that the guy had in his hole cards ? Otherwise no split pot surely.

Hee hee! Snowing in Brum? I know what Brummie snow looks like, mate, andf it ain't upto much. For real snow, you wanna be in Salzburg right now. It started snowing Saturday afternoon and hasn't stopped since....Currently about a foot deep. and it shows no sign of stopping. Don't know about Vienna (2 hours from here) but the peeps at the EWSOP might have trouble getting back.

LONGY ? I assume you mean me, Rich. Not too hot on Steeplechasers, mate. Novice Hurdlers are more my field. I like Noland for the very first race of the meeting, the Supreme Novices Hurdle, but he will need some rain in the next 10 days as "he likes to get his toe in"...Meaning he needs soft ground to show his best form. See you again soon. Mike
