Sportingbet owns Paradise Poker but is original and still other division is sports books/betting

This could therefore be a similar case to BetOnSports which was sports betting not poker related

I think you are right.....they are not as interested in poker but it always seems to suffer as a result of these cases. There are a lot of upset BOS punters!!

Sportingbet chairman detained

Sportingbet today announced that chairman Peter Dicks, 64, has been detained by U.S. authorities and a hearing is scheduled for later today. In a statement issued by the London-based online gaming company, which owns Paradise Poker, the Board has sought immediate temporary suspension of Sportingbet's shares pending clarification of the situation.

Gaming shares plummet in wake of arrest

Shares in the major online gaming companies have all plummeted after the announcement of Dicks' arrest. PartyGaming shares fell 12 per cent, to 103.75p; 888 dropped 15 pre cent, to 143.50p with Leisure & Gaming down 33 per cent to 73.50p.

I admit to being baised as this was my idea but would love to know what you guys think

Funny, I was just thinking when I saw it, how similar the satellite-structure seemed to the cancelled 'Rivercard' fessie satellites from earlier this year.

Might play a sat or two, y'never know... Cheesy

This one is underwritten by tribeca and is in Vegas   so no gaming board problems Cool

will the online finals be weekly or monthly?

At the moment monthly but next year they may increase....and there will be live qualifiers when they can be organised  with cardrooms and casinos, more news on that within the next 4 weeks. If any card room is interested in running qualifiers pm me and I will see what I can do to help.

Yes, all the best.

I think I miss work colleagues and the cut and thrust "office banter" more than I miss the steady income.
I'd say it's ok to be a sad, but make sure you perk up before you hit the tables proper.

Good Luck

And good advice ....you dont want to start on a negative..maybe take a break before you start. How much live V on line are you going to play ?

How does it all work please?

Is it live final?

Yup

The final is live at the Golden Nugget in Vegas next May 11th -18th  The tourney will run over at least 3 days, if the entries go above 100 then it will run over 4 as it is designed to be a player friendly tournament.

There is a new tournament on the Tribeca network.... Pokerface 2007

I think this is the best tournament on the net with 1 in 4 of the main event guaranteed a seat at the WSOP and the winner getting a $70,000 salary and $100,000 tournament entries and $30,000 travel and accomdation paid . With all the bad press Tribeca sometimes gets I think it is good to see a tournament that is different and really gives the players a chance at playing in the worlds top venues. There may be some live qualifiers across the U/K as well I will keep you posted when I know of any.

I admit to being baised as this was my idea but would love to know what you guys think

Doesn't make it any easier but.... he'll be fine - it's all life's experiences.  Not easy to cope with I expect, I have it all to come myself in a few years.  I'm already disliking comments from some mums of boys we know about how our dagger and their son will grow up together and who knows what will happen!  I bloody know - not a damn thing! grrrr Cheesy

My son is 21, daughter 23. I worry every day. I panic because I remember what I was like and I don't want them to make some of my mistakes, then my wife reminds me that we survived and so will they. I never worried about them drinking, I concentrated on keeping them away from drugs and reminding them that good manners and a good heart can avoid a lot of trouble and make a lot friends.  Cheesy

Is this still going to be aired?

Yup

I am almost to scared to say when...as every time it is due to go out something happens.

The latest scheduling is for Radio 1 at 5.45 tomorrow.

'' those who give up their liberties for security deserve neither liberty nor security. ''

Are you referring to a Bejamin Franklin quotation here? If so, I think the old man's been slightly misquoted.

"Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

The key part for me, is the word essential.

  well said

Exactly how essential is hand luggage?

That and it was written in the 18th century, by a rebelious colonial.  Cheesy

As for successes of security services, how many jumbo jets blew up yesterday?
90  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Is it worth women playing poker? on: August 11, 2006, 09:33:31 AM
In general i have found most women players to be weak tight. I steal their blinds relentlessly the same as i would against weak tight male player. If they raise they have something is my starting assumption always and i can't remember being proved wrong very often.

I think genrally women players lack the gamble gene and would rather get blinded away than put their chips in with junk.

I strongly disagree there are some fantastic female poker players and it will only be a matter before one wins the world series.
