Probably a question that's been asked a million times already, but can you buy in for today via the DTD poker software? Looked in the lobby earlier in the week and couldn't see anything

Question

Someone who is thinking about playing asked me the following question and I didn't know the answer.  The event is £500k gtd £1k (£900+£100) buy in.  If there are 440 runners what is the actual prize pool the players are playing for after deductions?  Same question if there is 480 runners?  Same question if there are 525 runners?

I didn't know the answer as the rake is taken out of the prize pool. His point was is the min prize pool £500k after deductions which is what £500k gtd implies?

Yeah this is the same as stars tournaments.  It gets interesting when the runners approach the threshold for making the gte.

So its £500k gtd but 10% taken out the prizepool so only really £450k gtd in prizes to be paid out to players.  This means that if there was 450 players, effectively every penny of the 450x£1k would go to the prizepool and DTD/Sky pay the rake out of their own pocket however every player from 451-500 are paying the rake which is coming off the prizepool no matter what so the players dont see a penny of the next 50x£1ks and once it gets above 500 players we will only see £900 of each additional players buyin to the prizepool.

So effectively means for the players, if there is going to be overlay at all we are sweating 450 max players and if the gte is met we're hoping for as many over 500 players as possible.

It will take 556 players to actually provide a £500k prizepool after rake is taken

There are currently 275 runners today

453 total

entry is open til 9pm.

buying in now you'd get 50,000 entering level 3 at 200-400

It's amazing how fed up and miserable 99% of the players in that video look- I know it's a biggish buyin for some and they are concentrating and being serious but it's not exactly a great environment to welcome new players into surely?

I have a hotel for tonight at the devere conference centre at the uni campus. One mile from dtd lovely hotel free wifi etc which I don't need as I am busto now. Currently £70 room only on their website.  Happy to take 40 quid I got the room keys etc on me.   The room is untouched and not used at all. I have literally checked in because I was going to lose it if I didn't.
