As fitting with tradition here is my 1000th post.
Its taken me 14 months to reach this target at 2.318 posts per day, at heart I am a lurker, so posting at this rate is remarkable to me.
I came here after meeting Tikay at the public opening night of
DTD and have been made to feel welcome since, including at two blonde bashes.
The State of blonde:
There has been no small amount of controversy over the last year and at times you can feel the morale of the regular posters drop. Despite this I think the community spirit is one of the main strength's of blonde, whatever happens in the future I am sure that this community will remain. One aspect of this large community is that I could buy-in to an APAT Event, Virgin Festival, GUKPT or even the WSOP and know that there will be a friendly face that makes you feel that you belong to the poker community.
The most recent blonde issues have been related to financing, I don't generate much rake but I do try and play cash on blonde. I hope that the increased staking of players on blonde and potential new shareholder('s) remedy these problems, I would hate to see blonde fail. Banks may be too big to fail, but blonde is too good to fail and I personally have confidence that things will turn around.
The State of my game:
2008 was an average year for me, an MTT downswing in the summer caused me to cut down on the volume of games I play, but a win in December has rekindled my passion. Getting my laptop nicked on New Years Eve also stopped me playing in January, the aim now is to really pick up the volume and in time buy-ins.
The big question now is should I try and get staked or try and build up the old fashioned way. I have taken out the bulk of my winnings and so have not progressed beyond $10 games. My target is to win $10k across the year, to achieve this I will have to move up limits. The downside of being staked is giving up 50% of the profit, the advantages are a quicker start and the pressure to keep up the volume. Also playing with other peoples money has previously increased my consistency. Either way it will be a tough task, but any proportion of the $10k will be beneficial.
Shout Outs:
People who I am happy to take my chips: Silo, Tonji and Ecosse.
People who I enjoy playing against: Suzanne and Claw.
Thanks for the comedy: Bolt and Gatso.
Thanks for Bubble Prize at the Virgin Festival: Kev.
Thanks for the community: Everyone else.
Next landmark is 5000 posts which will be in about 4 years time.
