For that reason I wouldn't rule out a pair bigger than Jacks. If people call raises with nothing, then a good player might make sure they're making a mistake by doing so and will make this sort of raise with AA/KK

isnt a folding hand you simply have to get chips because the blinds go up so fast
Go all-in and hope you're ahead.
Unless you're in the blind. Then consider flat calling and betting any flop that gives you less than a straight as you'll be first to speak.
