why all the surprise over spain? has no-one ever watched a world cup before? they're always going to win it until it starts and then it turns out they're actually shit
surely it'd be a much bigger surprise if they won a game

Probably because people had thought that with winning the Euros they'd got rid of the millstone of perennial underachievers.

I do think it was a surprise they lost,  I was on the draw personally.

It's easy to forget that this group of players has been on the go through two domestic seasons, a summer confederations cup and european finals. I thought in some areas (notably Torres who looked short of sharpness) you could see this showing a bit

Spain v Chile looks like a corking game now, doesn't it?

In general, now the second set of games starts, some teams are going to have to start playing to win. Things are about to pick up I think

This is easily the best Spain team I can remember man for man, they are also reigning European Champions and have won 33 of their last 34 games. I think that is probably more reason to think a team are going to be good than what a previous generation of players did.

I had the draw in todays game as well, sigh! Mainly based around the Swiss are very well organised.

Is that Mark Wilson the Stoke Circus reg? who reads the Telegraph whilst playing without even looking at his cards?

If so I quite like him

Massively unrelated, but I once signed Pedro the Spanish International on Soccer Manager when he was like a 72 rating. Massive coup.

Aftertimer alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my luck has changed, i was on £30 today after starting with £120

Stuck £5 on Forlan (who else, suarez is shite as is the rest of the team), and £15 on Uruguay to win @ 6/4

Ive now stuck a few quid on KL Choi, Cabrera, Cink and Woods in the US Open, leaving £50 in the WC Bank Roll

ooops guys never bet on the first games in the groups teams are too busy trying not to lose to play proper

2nd round of group games and form will come into it espically when teams like england now realise they have to score goals to
make sure they go through there group as winners and avoived seeded teams in the last 16

nh sir. I'm fairly sure back in the day on that game I signed Thomas Muller when he was a 74ish and eden hazard when he was similar. I spent far too much time on that game when i played it.
