Title: Done my money in BIZARRE fashion
Post by: BrumBilly on December 09, 2011, 02:32:23 PM
2:20 Cheltenham

Was heavily on the favourite who'd have battled it out with Uncle Junior, not sure I'd have collected but to see the race fall apart like that left me bemused! Hopefully all the horses are ok.

Will no doubt tilt for the rest of the day!

Was it a woman on the leader?

lol not quite...closing stages in a 3m 7f corss-country race and the leaders take the wrong route...all sorts of carnage ensued when jockeys tried to get back on course! Cameraman didn't know where to look! Replay to race isn't up yet but you can find it here when it does.

Here it is...don't think I can watch again just yet! Too tilting :(

I backed ScotsIrish too but I am not sure it would have won to be honest with you.  i was thinking they had given it too much to do just before the carnage although I think Mullins knew the right way to go.

If you bet with Skybet they are refunding bets on horses that took the wrong course.  If only I could bet with Skybet I would have had a nice touch.  Had £300 on ScotsIrish @ 15/8 and layed £200 @ 2.60 on Betfair!!!

Cheers for the infor but was on with Hills. Looked to be travelling well tho Uncle Junior may have had a slight edge just before the madness. Will watch again later and see if I can figure out wtf happened as the race turned into a 'what happened next' in an instant...took me a second to realise I was drawing dead!

That would appear to be a daft assumption.

So who do you think should have been punished, those on the horses that were following the leaders?

Not assuming anything, don't think it's a great conspiracy or anything.
Richard Johnson should be banned IMO, his maneuver was dangerous at best.

I also think that the course should be marked clearly.

So Johnson should be banned for trying to steer his horse onto the correct course?

Have you even watched the race? He is on a horse going full speed, tries to pull him up in one go/change direction at the very last minute, rides him straight into the barrier and interferes with the horse behind him.

If you did this in a car you'd get done. This was dangerous riding.

[ ] Horse-riding is similar to driving a car.

Have you ever ridden a horse?

Do you think the stewards know anything about horse-riding and racing?

Why didn't the stewards give him a ban?

If you had bet on Johnson's horse would you not want him to try and win the race?

Yes I was watching the race live.

Yes I've ridden..a fair bit...not competitively obviously but I know that you can't do what he was trying to do.

If he did this in a flat race, causing his horse to fall and causing interference to such an extent that another horse falls, do you think he wouldn't have been banned?

Carry on, you've left several questions unanswered.

I always assumed you were a jockey when you weren't doing panto

Are you saying that the stewards never get it wrong?  That's like saying the FA never get it wrong when it comes to punishing a player. Just a silly question

I honestly couldn't tell you. Maybe they thought the whole episode was embarrasing enough? As I said, he fully deserves a ban for what he did.

I'd like him to take the right course and think whilst he's riding. He didn't do this. He was too late to correct his previous mistake. Yes I want him to try to win the race. Do I want him to do it in a way that's dangerous to other horses and rider (inc his own)? No of course not.

Really, just look back through the incident and explain to me why Heskin gets a ban but Johnson doesn't.
