Title: November Nine this weekend
Post by: TightEnd on November 04, 2011, 11:10:37 AM
The final nine players of the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event, also known as the WSOP November Nine, will meet again November 5th to 7th to battle for the prized bracelet and $8.7 million in cash.

This year is the most international final table of all time, with players from seven different countries. It is also very young, with an average age of 28 and 7 players under 30.

Here's more about each of the players, from the chip leader to the small stack:

Martin Staszko – 40,175,000 in chips
Staszko is the chip leader of the November Nine. The 35-year-old professional poker player is from Trinec and is the first from the Czech Republic to ever make the WSOP Main Event final table.

Eoghan O’Dea – 33,925,000 in chips
O’Dea is a 26-year-old poker pro from Dublin, Ireland and is second in chips. He has had a really good World Series of Poker this year, and cashing in three other events in 2011. He is the son of a WSOP bracelet winner, Donnacha O’Dea, who won his bracelet in 1998.

Matt Giannetti – 24,750,000 in chips
Giannetti is a 26-year-old poker pro from Las Vegas and will start the final table with a solid stack of chips. Before going pro, he was a student at the University of Texas.

Phil Collins – 23,875,000 in chips
This Phil Collins is not the famous singer, but a 26-year-old pro poker player from Las Vegas. He'll rejoin the action fourth in chips. While at the University of South Carolina, he met his wife Katie who lived across the hall from him.

Ben Lamb – 20,875,000 in chips
While Ben Lamb may only be fifth in chips when the final table resumes, he is without a doubt, the player to watch. He has already won one WSOP bracelet this year at Event 42 and is leading the "Player of the Year" rankings. This is his fifth final table at the 2011 WSOP and all eyes are on this player from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Badih Bou-Nahra – 19,700,000 in chips
Bou-Nahra is the oldest player at the final table at 49, and is the first ever player from Belize to appear at a Main Event final table. Bou-Nahra was born in Lebanon, but now calls Belize City his home.

Anton Makiievskyi – 13,825,000 in chips
Makiievskyi is the youngest player at the table and at 21, has the opportunity to be the youngest-ever champion the WSOP Main Event has ever seen, ousting Joe Cada from that title. This is his first WSOP, and it marks the first time a Ukranian has made the final table.

Pius Heinz – 16,425,000 in chips
Heinz is a 22-year-old student and poker player from Cologne, Germany. He has already done well at his first WSOP, finishing 7th in a no-limit event earlier in the summer. He will also be the first German to make the final table.

Sam Holden – 12,375,000 in chips
Holden is the short stack at the final table, but he won't enter the day desperate. The 22-year-old poker pro from Sussex, United Kingdom is playing in his first WSOP this year.

On Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, the WSOP Main Event will play down to the final three players in Las Vegas; what’s more, it will be aired from beginning to end on ESPN 2 and ESPN 3 beginning at 3:30 p.m. EST. The action will be on a 15-minute delay, with hole cards being shown.

Then, on Tuesday Nov. 8, the final three will play down to a winner. This will be shown in the same format on ESPN and ESPN 3 beginning at 9 p.m. EST. All told, nearly 18 hours of exciting poker action is expected, so be sure to check your local listings

Something weird happened to me last night. It's wsop related so bear with me.
A few years ago, just before I played late night poker for the first time. I dreamt that I came second in my heat & that I won the semi final.! Well guess what? That's what happened.
A few weeks later I dreamt just before the Women's open thingy that I won that heat, and yes, I did.

I had never dreamt premonisions before those times or after.  Until last night!
I saw the 2 players heads up for the Main Event bracelet.
They were....... Phil Collins & Anton Makieyevski!!

I thought I would share this, I could easily make a nob of myself but I really don't think so.

I've found odds of 7-1 & 10-1 ftw so I'm lumping on them both :)

If anyone wants a punt, go for it. If u lose, ill just say it was a stupid dream anyway lol.

I think you might fined that all books closed @ 8.00pm Friday in the uk.

I struggled because I only had an hour to sort it.  I did put a couple bets with Bodog this afternoon.  Got Collins to win @ 13/2 & Anton to win @ 10-1.  When I first checked the site, it had Anton @ 12-1, so I reg'd an account, deposited and by that time he'd gone down to 10's. Gutted.

ESPN 2 coverage Starts 7.30pm Sunday UK.. Final 3 will be on ESPN 2 and on ESPN UK Tuesday/wednesday night 1.30 am.      Hope this helps

not strictly true, according to the wsop site, it goes on air at 6.30pm (gmt) for the start of the final (without hole cards), but will go off air for 15 minutes at 7.15pm and rejoin with a 15 minute delay with hole cards

the 1st stint might well be on wsop.com only...

Yeh made a good read there.

Just felt that whilst Collins probably outright wins it more times than Giannetti, the latter seems like a guy more likely to produce consistently high finishes. (seemed a bit of a ludderer).

Press Release from the nice peeps at WSOP........

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 6, 2011) – After roughly seven hours and 45 minutes of play on Sunday, the 2011 World Series of Poker® (WSOP) Main Event is down to its final three players. Pius Heinz, Ben Lamb and Martin Staszko will return to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Tuesday to compete for the top prize of more than $8.7 million and the game’s most coveted prize, a WSOP gold bracelet.

Tuesday’s action will be carried nearly live – with just a 15-minute delay – on ESPN and ESPN3 beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern and will feature hole cards following the conclusion of the hand. Heinz, Lamb and Staszko will be vying for a share of more than $18 million.

In addition to the top prize of $8,715,638, the second-place finisher will receive $5,433,086 and the third-place finisher will take home $4,021,138.

Heinz is the chip leader going into the final day of play. The 22-year-old is a resident of Cologne, Germany. The student and poker professional has a chip count of 107,800,000.  Lamb, a 26-year old poker professional who splits time between Las Vegas and Tulsa, Oklahoma, is currently second in chips with 55,400,000. Staszko, 35, of Trinec, Czech Republic, will enter Tuesday’s play as the short stack, with 42,700,000.

Sunday’s action, which saw six of the final nine players eliminated, was carried nearly live on ESPN2 and ESPN3 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Eastern. The competitors broke out in the following order, collecting the following prize money:

9th place: Sam Holden, 22, of Sussex, Great Britain: $782,115

8th place: Anton Makiievskyi, 21, of Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine: $1,010,015

7th place: Badih Bou-Nahra, 49, of Belize City, Belize: $1,314,097

6th place: Eoghan O’Dea, 26, of Dublin, Ireland: $1,720,831

5th place: Phil Collins, 26, of Las Vegas, Nevada: $2,269,599

4th place: Matt Giannetti, 26, of Las Vegas, Nevada: $3,012,700

The 2011 WSOP Main Event began in July with a total of 6,865 entrants. The event’s total prize pool was $64,540,858, with $28,279,223 going to the final nine players. A total of 693 entrants cashed in the event.

As has become tradition in recent years, Main Event play was suspended in July when the tournament reached its final nine players. It resumed with the “November Nine” taking to the felt Sunday with 34 minutes, 57 seconds remaining in Level 36, with antes 50,000 and blinds at 250,000 and 500,000.

The 2011 WSOP attracted a record 75,672 players from 105 different nations competing for a total prize pool of $192,008,868 over the 58-event, 50-day extravaganza.

nice fade on the gianetti/colins bet greeky, i got tons of action on this, have no idea how

Yeh made a good read there.

Just felt that whilst Collins probably outright wins it more times than Giannetti, the latter seems like a guy more likely to produce consistently high finishes. (seemed a bit of a ludderer).

exactly what i said but dave hustled me into it.

i had the bet with 5 different people, still dont get how everyone snaps me off at even money so fast - Gianetti been playing and beating High Stakes poker for 6-7years and is defo the most used to playiing with this amount of money, and had 4million chips more....think it was a sharky bet by me :P first time for everything weeeeee

I am going to write a letter to the NFL, insisting they start their games earlier cos it doesn't suit me. Also we should reschedule champions league games to start mid morning for the audiences in the far east.

Quite right too!

Quite an atmo here in Vegas, the Cardrooms are relaying it on the Plasmas, great stuff.

What a great heads-up this has turned into, & what heart Stazko is showing. Love to see him win it, but in many ways, the boy deserves it, too.

"Martin Staszko had the button. He limped in and Pius heinz checked his option in the big blind to see the  Kh 7h 7s  flop. Heinz bet three million and Staszko called.

The  7c  landed on the turn and both players checked. The river was the  3d  and both players checked. Heinz showed the  Kc 8s  and Staszko mucked."

Can someone explain to me why Heinz doesn't bet river here?  I can understand the fturn check but does he really think worse is never going to call him here?  Is this just really weak and passive or am I missing another level in my thinking?

When I paid £2.99 at the begining of the ME, I just bought one week and that didn't roll over. Very strange. Better check it's not doing so now though as I bought it again for the FT.
