I played the first comp of the festival at sheffiedl last night, 100 rebuy, it was like the wild west, shootin from the hip!

First hand, first man to act, all in, next man...all in, and a third man (and Im sure he didnt look at his cards)...all in, hands were 33, 88, and J9. The bloke to my right was desperate to lose his short stack so that he could take the last remaining seat in what appeared to be a very lively cash game but, despite his best efforts he was chip leader on my table when I was ko'd

The venue was packed, with every seat sold by about 6.30pm. When I arrived at about 7 Craig was knee deep in would be punters, all waving their entry fee and pleading their case, be early!

I love playing at Sheffield, you're packed in like sardenes, (use the loo before you sit down because like as not you wont be able to get up again for about three hours) and, its full of Yorkshiremen.

The banter is so funny, either that or I have a warped sense of humour, "weers tha from yooth"? ( this after a silly bet into a dry pot which allows the all in man to survive) "Doncaster mate" " Well why dun't tha fcuk off back theere instead of spoilin t game?

The cardroom staff do a great job, the dealers, in my opinion, are some of the best around, the restaurant is excellent, the comps make a fortune, and theres a big, secure car park. what more could you ask?

I can't wait for round two, yeeeehaaaa!

A break every now and then would be nice as would a max. of 10 people per table so you can actually move  Smiley

Also, when I move in with AK, nobody should have Aces!!  Bugger!   Wink

Could not agree more Red, I really love playing Sheffield. And you forgot to mention that the Car Park is FREE.....!

And that - uniquely in my recollection - there is NO JUICE! (They provide excellent dealers).

They sure do play wild though, it's Rebuy City.

Sure, it is a bit packed, 11 to a table is too many.

But it's the old "you can't ave everything" scenario. I love Sheffield, so 11 to a table, packed in like sardines, no breaks, but what the hell, it's a fun place, so we put up with these minor problems. And Craig & Fordy (the old one & the effiminite one) are terific guys.

Just as, at Notts, though we'd prefer dealers, we cant have everything, & as long as we are having fun, it's not that big a deal.

I could not get there last night, was in London, but will be up tonight & tomorrow. Hope Craig got my entry in the post, or else I shall be coming back South pretty quick,....!

By the way, if anyone knows last night's Sheffield Result, (are you listening Craig?) we'd love to know it, so we can post it on blonde.

See you tonight guys!

Do you know the reasoning behind there being no breaks Tikay?  After 4 or 5 hours it's tough going   Lips Sealed

I'd love to know the result, I know The Camel had a nice stack with about 20 to go.

Why no breaks? Obvious, if you think about it.

It's in Yorkshire. If folks wanna pee, they just do it there & then, without leaving the table. They think toilets are cissy in Yorkshire.

Be nice to have a 5 minute break every couple of hours for us posh geezers though, especially us older ones - the bladder gets weak with age, you know.

Nice description there Red-Dog.
It was soooo packed you wouldn't believe it. - I was sat on a table with Rumit and his mate Jim Reid (they are both Southern Fairies you know!)  Jim asked Rumit what time the first break was here.  This was met with great gafawing and mirth from the locals at the table and i think one of them actually uttered something like 'what does tha want a break for lad ye piss in ye pocket up here son" - quite funny. -

i do echo the thoughts of Tikay though - should be max 10 to a table.

The only other problem with sheff is the rule whereby if a player doesn't arrive at the table they are very seriously and quickly blinded away.  3 hands in and you lose the bb, the next hand it doubles and the hand after doubles again and so on.  One fella who arrived 25 minutes late lost all of his chips by the time he arrived and was out of the comp.

great atmosphere though and free dealers is a lead every casino should take

I don't remember seeing that bit in the TDA rules !

And I thought the Gaming Board's "bum on seat" directive would mean a reserve getting the seat.

According to my sources. I have several.

Here is a sort of result.

110 players. 27000 in prize money.

6 Way chop.  Steve "Lucky" Liu and Norman "Gypsy" Reynolds taking the most.

Lucky Liu took me out of the comp - he raised my BB and i was short stacked so re-raised all in quick as a flash with my 8-8 and he had to pay the under-raise to see me - as I suspected he was at it with 9-10 and caught a 9 - the way it goes in these 50-50 situations - he had loads of chips so wouldn't have hurt him anyway.

The Gaming Boards Directive is not "Bums on Seats"

It is actually "All Players must be on the premises at the start of the Competition". to enforce that rule Grosvenor say All players must be sat at the table at the start of the Competition. This way they know that they are there.

I do believe it is one of the rule changes that are on their way in. It won't change the rule much tho. Just not be as Draconian in its implementation.

People will still have to prove they are on the premises or otherwise lose their seat to a reserve.

Thanks for clearing that up Yogi.

I thought the old "doubling -up of the ante" after 3 hands had gone for good.

That was scrapped at Nottm. years ago.
