Dominic Rossookh, who went very deep in Bolton, raises to 225, Lawrence Gosney makes the call, as does Neil Channing from the small blind.

Here-in follows a sequence of events that don't take longer than a minute for all of them together. Channing checks, Rossokh bets 625, Gosney calls and Channing raises to 1,625. Now Rossokh calls, but then Gosney moves all-in and Channing instantly calls him. Rossokh passes, slightly glumly.

Gosney:
Channing:

One card in the deck is needed, or running clubs.

And the Irish Open Champion is gone.

"Four cases of set over set this week is probably a little too many," he observes.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so they say.  But here's Angle One from the G Casino, which was originally taken to show the empty places dotted here and there for the alternates, but in actual fact makes it look like the GUKPT is an STT.

Oh the power of the press...fairly drunk on it, Homer was encouraging me to, "Make it up!  Make it all up!"* but I don't have the energy, quite frankly.  Here's the view from the populated end of the poker room, featuring Trevor Reardon and Joe Grech:

Joe Grech has also gone. Looks like he was all-in with on a flop against Charles Denton's which spiked the turn. No on the river and another name gone.

Ian Woodley.  Couldn't be more of a difference between resigned, "Wish I'd stayed in bed through the first two levels like I'd originally planned.  It was a fire alarm that got me out of bed" Neil Channing and perma-grinning Woodley, moved to a new table already (or an alternate) and trying with middling results to get them chatting.

Here he is addressing this lady, Moyra Davies, who took down a pot without showdown despite his saying, "Show and take!" She was having none of it, though, and he complained, "I thought this was a friendly table."

Sunny Chattha, sporting a beard, told me of Lynne Beaumont's exit. After a few limpers, she made it 800 with around 6,000 behind. Sunny Chattha passed 8-8 and Rana Gurnham, who had limped UTG made the call before the two of them got it all-in on a T-8-4 flop. Gurnham had flopped 4-4 against Lynne's A-A which held.

"Sometimes things go right in poker," announces a chuffed Mickey Wernick, having seen off Pete Linton - he came over to let us know in our corner...  Apparently lairy from the get-go, Linton was irritating the table in his usual fashion, doubling through AK vs. 77 at one point and announcing that he would be trouble... But apparently it was easy come, easy go, as Linton dropped a few thousand here and there, before raising on the button, when Wernick was holding .  A J-3-2 flop couldn't have hit him any better, and he checked, along with the other couple of preflop callers, and along with Button Linton.

The turn brought a Six, and now Mickey bet out 600, only to find Linton moving all in on the button for c.4,000 - called immediately, his cards were in the muck almost as immediately.  Oops.

Wernick - pictured staring into middle distance in between playing the three hands he admits to having played:

Roberto Romanello is out, looks like he was down to 4k. And he then check/raised all-in on a three diamonds and was called by Lee Bidulph's . The put Roberto ahead and also meant the was no good for Bidulph now, but the appeared on the river to knock the Welshman out.

Before he was out he was sitting next to the always chirpy Andreas Hoivold, who is on 16k already.

Way out in front as we approach the first break is Lawrence Gosney.  All other stacks appear even or low compared to his 35,000+ towers.  He seems to be involved in pretty much every hand, and there's no one on his table at least he can't take on, take out, or feel the loss of it like the sting of a gnat.  Currently.  I seem to be experiencing some deja vu here and will be interested to see if those chips stay piled up so threateningly in front of Gosney through the three days (minus two levels) still left to play.

Daniel 'UpTheMariners' Rudd had a slow start but has regained some chips.

First he check/calls 1,100 on a Two Diamonds before check/raising a 3,000 bet all-in for another 3,200 on the turn. His opponent quickly folds, Rudd back over 10k.

Does Lawrence have a slower gear in these? time after time he gets big stacks and doesn't final almost as if he lacks the patience for them.

Professional hazard for a LAGgy chip amasser I suppose.

Red Dog is 8.5k after losing around 2k with A-A vs A-K on a Q-J-T-x-x board.

Players on a short break.
