Thought this might appeal to you

A whale shark being transported after it was caught in a fishermen's net in Yangzhi county, Fujian province. According to local media, the whale shark is five-metres-long and weighs over 2 tonnes.

I wonder how they got it on there?

Hi Tom,

this picture appeared on my facebook newsfeed this morning with the following text:

PLEASE PLEASE SHARE THIS!
I found this in my own horse Mushu's mane tonight, at moorfields, Kells/ballymena area.
This is a gypsy knot for those who don't know what it is. Gypsys tag the horse they want to steal with knots like this. It took me 15mins to untangle out of his mane!
Even if you don't own horses yourself, you may know somebody who does, so PLEASE SHARE this and PLEASE check your horse's manes.

This isn't something I've heard of before and is obviously a very one-sided view  - is it something you are able to shed some light on/dispel?

It's a total crock of crap.

Why on earth would anyone advertise the fact that the want to steal something, it's ludicrous.

If they did want to steal it, why would they draw attention to themselves by standing there plaiting it's mane instead of just stealing it there and then?

No doubt a good percentage of the people who read that will be only too happy to accept it as gospel and pass it on, and in so doing bring misery to some poor innocent Gypsy family further down the line and perpetuate a culture of blind hatred for another few generations.

The Dead

BLOW out, you bugles, over the rich Dead!
There’s none of these so lonely and poor of old,
But, dying, has made us rarer gifts than gold.
These laid the world away; poured out the red
Sweet wine of youth; gave up the years to be
Of work and joy, and that unhoped serene,
That men call age; and those who would have been,
Their sons, they gave, their immortality.

Blow, bugles, blow! They brought us, for our dearth,
Holiness, lacked so long, and Love, and Pain.
Honour has come back, as a king, to earth,
  And paid his subjects with a royal wage;
And Nobleness walks in our ways again;
And we have come into our heritage.

Lovely sentiment, but I don't think I'm sophisticated enough to really appreciate Rupert Brooke. His poems aren't rhymey enough for me.

rhymey?

RHYMEY?

For goodness sake, Tom.

I just can't understand why people believe some of the stuff on Facebook.  Surely you can spend 2 seconds on this and spot the flaw?

thanks Tom - I didn't want to leave it there on my newsfeed without commenting/challenging for the very reasons you've said.  I'm going to see if I can get as many people to share the fact that it is potentially damaging prejudiced nonsense as shared the original post.

I wonder how they got it on there?

I don't know and not meaning to lower the tone but its rather purple coloured bulbous head reminds me of something.

I don't tell bad beat stories, but permit me this one.

Goliath Coventry. Blinds 400 / 800.

I've been up to 70k but got out drawn all in twice in succession to go back to my starting stack of 25k.

It's folded around to me in the sb, I make it 2200 to go with A10os.

From the bb, a nervous young man who literally hasn't played a hand for two hours takes back his blind, replacing it with 5200.

My cards are in the air and on the way to the muck when I hear him say,  "Call".

That's the worst part, he asked why I'd passed, "Was you bluffing?" and showed 10c Jc.
