Had to rearrange my dates after Marky's efforts but two of us got a 1 bed (plus sofa bed in lounge) apartment at Las Vegas Jockey Club for 20 nights at $1900 plus tax. What with the airmiles plus £215 flights Im happy with less than £1K per head for 20 nights tbh. Right next door to City Center and Bellagio and opposite PH, looking forward to it in two weeks time

Hi all,
never used this site before but a poker buddy of mine highly recommended it as he thought someone could help or at least point me in the right direction
I went to Vegas for the first time last year but this was with some of my university mates so it turned in to more of a drinking holiday rather than poker playing. However, on 6th Feb I'll be joining a large group of poker mates this time for 9 days at Harrah's casino/hotel but I'm looking to stay a lot longer, either until the end of feb/early march or maybe as long as the end of march. I'm generally a cash game player, i make consistent profit at £1/1 and £1/2 (blinds) tables in various casinos in England.
I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions/recommendations for cheap accommodation in walking distance of the main strip in Vegas? I'm not too fussy about it being modern etc, just that its a clean and a safe place to stay. I've also heard people talk about poker player rates at some of the casinos but don't know who genuinely have the best deals and how much it would normally cost per night/week? basically, what a good and bad deal would be on this basis? or are there any alternatives i could look at?
I was also wondering if anybody knew which of the casinos would be best to play $2/5 cash games? I haven't played this limit before so i wanted to avoid being dropped in at the deep end with all the local Vegas sharks for at least my first few sessions!
Sorry if some of this has already been mentioned in the thread but it would take me several weeks to get through 125 pages, especially as I have a reading age of 8 years old!
any help would be much appreciated!
thanks in advance
Hooters for 14 nights from the 15th Feb is £400, and looks a pretty good deal from what I've seen.
It's not directly on the strip, but it's pretty close and sits just off MGM.

Thanks for all your efforts guys, I really appreciate it! Definately got a better idea now. Tbh, some of the prices are a bit higher than I imagined but prob because I hadn't realised how much it goes up at weekends! Thinking maybe I'll have to do a few all nighter sessions over the weekend period and catch up with sleep during the week! Lol
Just got back from playing so gonna check out some of the places u suggested tomorrow day time, I'm guessing it's much better/cheaper to book before u go, but do places ever offer last minute deals when you're out there? Eg if they have rooms that they know won't be filled for a night or 2?
Cheers

You're there over Valentines Day weekend, which is responsible in part for a large amount of the costs, and in some cases those 2 nights are equal to the cost of the other 12.
It's unlikely that you will fina anything cheaper than the £400 for Hooters, however, you'll be spending a fair bit of time walking back up the strip from there.
The better play may be to pay a little more and stay at the Gold Coast, so that you can use the CET shuttle from the Rio to the strip.
You could also stay at Circus Circus for the same price, or Riviera for about another £50. That would leave you nearer the Wynn/Venetian and some bigger games.
Basically, it's either pay more for your hotel, or get your walking boots on and save a couple hundred.
It's Vegas, so there is no reason you can't try and grab a room last minute, but it's not something I would entertain doing myself

IMO the 2/5 is better than 1/2. The 1/3 at the Wynn is a good option too.
Make sure you have BravoPoker downloaded. Really handy for finding nearest games.
IMO I'd just swallow the extra (with reason) for hotel and stay where is closest to the casinos you are gonna be grinding. If it's a choice between an extra £100 or getting a bus to and from, there's just no contest. Also by trying to save a few quid by switching hotel, again is a false economy, as the time for packing/checking in/out could be better used at the tables.

I like a half decent room, because I actually spend some time chilling out in mine. Still, I do completely understand the guys who just want to get their head down etc.
In this case I would listen to Scotty here, because he does exactly what you're looking to do when he is out in Vegas.
@jjandellis
I've got a cousin who lives in Costa Mesa, so I would do exactly that. Probably only cost $200 to fly up there, spend a few days with her and the kids.
If you're on your jack, it's probably not as appealing though, and easier to just swallow the costs and crack on with the grind.

Certainly if you want your poker fill and something different LA is an option. Fast loose action and the biggest cardrooms in the world, admittedly they are crap holes compared to vegas but plenty of money to be won.

Just booked a 2 week trip in May. The Wynn have comped me 5 nights free. Does this mean they think I'm a punter?

After umming an eeeering for so long, I have finally booked Vegas!
21 Febuary - 3rd March, 10 days.
Gave in on the hotel for & went for Vdara & it came to £1,200 (which includes resort fees, I believe!)
