Been reading a bit on DPS recently. They have a tutorial on shooting fireworks: http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-photograph-fireworks

Anybody got any fireworks photography advice?

I gather the general idea is either a fast shutter speed to capture the precise moment, or a slower speed for a 'streak' effect but anybody got any specific settings advice?

I took a whole bunch of July 4th Vegas Firework displays, using "Sports Continuous" Mode. The fact that I dare not Upload them says it all.

Guess I could upload as a "how not to".....

My resident Sparrow-hawk got another Collared dove in the back garden last night. Have video and photos on my IPhone but they are obv rubbish. I am amazed that he/she has the confidence to be so close to a house in Scunthorpe.

I really must look up more stuff on them because I am starting to think it can't be the same bird. It/they made 2 kills yesterday (once whilst we were out) and the one in the evening it sat there eating it until I spooked it Sad

Yeah. Much nicer places for a hawk to live.

Bit sad but.....

You can see the conifers in the bottom of my garden.

For a town dominated by the steel works there is loads of wild life round here. We see deer regular too

Took a trip to the Botanic Gardens with the grandaughter yesterday. Glad the gardens hadn't suffered too much from the recent weather:

Just found this section of the site - will have to start from beginning of thread when I have some time. I am starting to get back into photography since getting some high end DSLR's for the video side of our business.

Good video on firework photography here:

http://youtu.be/D3P8GwMCOr8 (Jared Polin is one of those love him or hate him characters so not all will like his style but he gives good advice)

re: Millidonk's image wrapping

Here's one I did for one of the guys in a local band:
