Title: Bet different with I-Pools
Post by: Honeybadger on August 07, 2015, 12:03:39 PM
Stakesandladders, the UK's pools betting network, has changed its name to I-Pools (www.i-pools.co.uk).

To celebrate this we are offering the following:

1. £10 referral bonus if you refer a friend to our site.
2. £25 matched deposit bonus for existing users.
3. Big guarantees on pools for the start of the PL Football season (there will likely be huge overlays to take advantage of).

We believe that peer-to-peer pools betting is the future of punting. Unlike the bookies, we don't turn anyone away... winners are welcome!

Rake on our pools (can be as little as 3%) is very low compared to either over-rounds at the bookies or other pools-based games such as fantasy football sites.

We have a huge variety of different pools games to play - I will be introducing many of these games in this thread. All our pools games have a few things in common though:

  • They have a balance of skill and luck. Knowledge of sport and out-thinking the other entrants is important, but there is also plenty of luck involved which means everyone has a chance to win any pool, and those who enter just for a fun punt are not heavily penalised.
  • All our pools offer a great sweat. It is exciting and fun to be watching a sporting event whilst seeing your pool entry move up and down the leaderboard in real-time as the action unfolds, and comparing your answers to other users (with our easy to use interface) to know what you need to happen to win the pool.
  • Users are not betting against 'the house' - they are playing a game vs other users, backing their judgement against the other entrants.

I hope those Blonde members who have been playing on S&L over the last 18 months will continue to support I-Pools, and that those who have not had a go yet will give us a try and see what we have to offer. It is a different form of punting to what most people are used to, but the pools are very easy to enter and a lot of fun.

Introducing our Last Longest pools.

Pick a team every week to win. If your selection wins then you progress to the next week. If not, you are eliminated. The 'last man standing' scoops the prizepool.

There is a surprising amount of knowledge and strategy involved in these pools. Obviously it helps to be a reasonable judge so you can pick teams that are likely to win each week. But because you cannot pick the same team twice, it is also very important to think a bit about exactly when you pick each team: simply picking all the best teams in the first few weeks might not be the best strategy. This is especially important in knockout competitions, but also applies to league based ones.

If you do get knocked out in any week then you can still be in action because there will be another Last Longest starting the following week.

This week's Championship Last Longest closes for entry tonight, just before the first games kick off.

This week's Premier League Last Longest closes tomorrow, before kick off. We have put a ridiculous guarantee on the £1 entry PL Last Longest pool - a £250 prize pool! We are fully aware that this pool is likely to overlay chunks, but this is our philosophy with guarantees... we set them at levels where we EXPECT an overlay. It gives our users 'free value' and thus gives them an additional reason to keep returning to our site.

So come and get involved, snap up the value and see if you can outlast the competition!

Tbh, that is not the official I-Pools marketing strategy (I assume for good reason based on what you have said!). Everything I post on this thread is just gonna be my own stuff. Nobody at I-Pools writes (or 'signs off') my posts here. I am a founder and (small) part owner of the site and want to see it succeed obviously. So I appreciate the advice, as I will also appreciate any further ideas/feedback from you or anyone else on I-Pools.

Introducing our Fantasy Pools.

We run fantasy-style games on many different sports, not just football. Most of these fantasy pools only last a few days, rather than an entire season (i.e. one game week for the PL pools, the duration of a single tournament for golf etc). Our aim has been to make our fantasy pools much simpler than the traditional fantasy football type of game. For example, in our football pools we do not have transfer budgets and users only choose 5 players (in a 1-1-2-1 five-a-side formation).

These pools are very quick and easy to enter, but there is obviously a decent amount of strategy involved in making your picks. You get a good sweat for a few days, but your money is not tied up over an entire season.

No worries - it's just the 'winners are welcome' bit stuck out. Betfair used the exact same tagline, the exchange became filled with shrewdies and bots whilst ice creams got put off by all the scary numbers and put their bets on with PP or Bet365 at worse odds.

Yes that is correct. When you register we give you £5 worth of 'points' that can be used to enter a five £1 pools (or one £5 pool) to try I-Pools out.

There is no code to enter to get more. However, if you make a deposit onto the site we will match it (up to £25). All we ask if that you use the deposit to actually enter some pools. Once you have entered £25 worth of pools we will credit you with £25 worth of points to enter further pools with.

Introducing our Predikta game, run in partnership with Predikta.com.

Predict the results of the weekend's PL matches. Choose one match to be your 'banker' and score double points. As with all our games, you don't need to get every result correct... you just need to be more accurate in your predictions that the other entrants. We do not have different entry levels for Predikta, just one £5 entry pool.

This is one of our more skillful games and obviously having a decent knowledge of football is important (of course there is still plenty of luck involved, so even an ice-cream like me has a chance). Nevertheless, it is extremely simple to enter. And you can end up with a great sweat, especially if you have scored well on the Saturday fixtures and know that if things go well in the Sunday/Monday fixtures you have a big chance of winning.

Are you giving Blonde royalties for this? ( http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=64608.0 )

Doesn't have to be cash, I'm sure Vinny will accept Nando's.

Ha ha. Tbh this has been a bit of an issue for me when posting about I-Pools/S&L on Blonde. I know there is already a culture of running pools games on the forum, especially by Mere Novice. And I do not want to undermine these. For example, when we ran our fantasy WSOP pool I deliberately did not mention it on Blonde at all until after entry to Mere's pool had already closed (I entered Mere's pool too).

I did make a suggestion that Blonde could use I-Pools (well, S&L as it was then) to host their Blonde pools games, and we would have given a big chunk of the revenue from these to Blonde. But it became clear that most people were happy to continue having them organised and run directly through threads on Blonde. I am guessing that this is still the case, and I can understand that completely. So I do not want to compete with the pools that run on Blonde, and definitely do not want to step on any toes in this thread.

If Blonde members (or anyone) ever do want to run private pools on I-Pools then this is great, and please get in touch. We already run quite a few private pools on our site... you just won't see them in the lobby since they are only visible to those with permission to enter.

In the meantime, I hope that Blondes will enter our pools AS WELL AS rather than instead of the Blonde-run pools.

Introducing our Quickie Pools.

These are one of my favourite pools on the site, mainly because they are so simple and don't require much (any?) thought to enter. On the skill and luck continuum they are the closest to being heavily luck-based - which, as a mug who likes a punt, is what I am personally looking for first and foremost (I realise this will not apply to many of those reading this ofc).

All you have to do is answer 10 Yes/No questions. Most of the questions are designed to be roughly 50/50s. I feel I can just have a pure punt with these pools, pretty much choosing my answers at random, since I am not giving up too much. Of course, I am sure some users put lots of thought into their answers and gain an edge over a random button clicker like me. But I don't really care. I love the fact I can enter one of these pools in just a few seconds, but still get to have a sweat throughout the weekend.

Here is a screenshot of tonight's Championship Quickie:

We also have games that are not strictly 'Quickie Pools', but follow the same format. One of the most popular is the Both Teams to Score pool. I admit I do put a little thought into this one, mostly trying to decide on which questions I should go against the crowd and pick an answer that I think few people will choose. Of course, being an ice-cream I'm always biased towards saying that both teams will score, since this is the 'high morale bet' (you're still in it until the final whistle blows, and you are rooting for something to happen, not against it).

I can see people getting put off by decimal odds, but were they really put off by winners are welcome?  Most people either think they win or think they run bad and should win.   You just have to spend 2 minutes on their forums to realise all losers aren't put off!  And of course Betfair absolutely crushed all opposition in the exchange business and they certainly aren't behind several others online offerings either.

A big surprise has been the amazing popularity of a new type of Last Longest pool that we are running for the first time this week. It is the £2 to enter Goalscorer Challenge Last Longest. Pick a player to score each week. If your player scores you progress to the next week, otherwise you are eliminated.

We already have 117 entrants(!) with 90 mins to go until it closes, and have smashed the guarantee. This was not expected, but is very pleasing.

However, the £1 traditional Last Longest (pick a team to win) still has a massive 150% overlay. It is guaranteed at £250 and there are 98 entrants so far. Of course we fully expected this pool to overlay. Obviously we will get more entrants over the next 90 minutes, but there is still almost certain to be a lot of overlay value for everyone who enters. So please give it a go as part of your pre PL kick-off punting.

Introducing our Golf Pools.

We run pools for most golf tournaments. Usually we offer both 'classic pools' and fantasy pools. The classic pools are a series of questions, in which users make predictions about what will happen in the tournament. See screenshots below of the classic pool for the upcoming USPGA Championship (which closes for entry on Thursday morning):

The fantasy pools are - in keeping with our overall philosophy - extremely simple: No transfer budgets and a restricted amount of selection options. See screenshot:

The pools betting format seems to work extremely well for golf and these pools have proved very popular, especially for the majors.

Introducing our Lucky 7 To Follow pools.

These are one of the few pool types on our site that run for a long period of time (usually the duration of a season). They are simplified fantasy games in which you pick your 'team' of 7 then score points throughout the season.

Lucky 7 pools run on many sports: golf, horse racing, poker, tennis, football etc. We put big guarantees on these pools (for example we tend to guarantee the £2 pools at £500) and there is pretty much always an overlay to snap up. We are happy for these pools to overlay and give 'free money' to our users, since this gives users a reason to come to our site - and return there to check on how their entries are doing.

For example, in the two Lucky 7 football pools (which close on Friday) there are currently overlays of 150% and 250%. Screenshots below.

Due to the Friday kick-off, many of our PL pools are closing tonight rather than Saturday. This means the overlays on the guaranteed pools are going to be bigger than usual I suspect. So if you fancy a punt on a few of our PL pools remember to get your entries in before tonight's game kicks off.

In particular, the two 'Lucky 7' pools still have HUGE overlays. So get in there and snap up the free value.

PL Darts again tonight. We have guaranteed the £100 classic pool at £1000 and it is overlaying at the moment.

Also, we are starting another Last Longest pool this week and have guaranteed the £2 pool at £200. No way we get even close to 100 runners, so there is pretty much a guaranteed overlay on this pool.

Already 18 players in the £100 PL Darts Pool, giving a prize pool of £1800!

As always, you can enter for £1, £5 and £25 instead of (or as well as) £100.

We also have another Last Longest starting this week. And don't forget to enter your picks for tonight if you are still in either of the Last Longest Pools that started in week 1 or week 2.

Some Classic Pools are designated as Progressive Jackpot Pools by the PJ sign in the Lobby. In these pools you can upgrade your entry for just £1 and enter the Progressive Jackpot. All the £1 entries are added to the Progressive Jackpot until a lucky player wins it all!  To win the Progressive Jackpot, you have to get all the answers in the pool exactly right. Currently the Progressive Jackpot is £4,187.

We've thrown a few decent guarantees at our Ryder Cup Pools, perfect intro for anyone new to i-pools as there's a nice range of games, and there's bound to be some overlay! There's over £3k in Guarantees on i-pools on friday!

Our biggest pool is a Fantasy Pick 6, where u pick one player from each of six groups to score for your team. This pool has £500 guaranteed!

The Classic Pool asks you to predict the action, who will win, who will top score, what will the biggest winning margin be, and plenty more like that.

Fantasy match-ups pits each player against an opponent for the duration of the Ryder Cup, simple question, who will win the most points.

All our pools cost £2 to play (there are £10 and £50 buy-ins too for the high rollers).

Would love to see some more of our Blonde friends in there, good luck if you play!!

Sunday is our 2nd ever Guarantees Day, every £2 pool is Guaranteed at £50. We know we won't get 25 players in every pool, so plenty of value about for those who fancy sniffing it out. There's two Premier League games, three NFL, the F1 Grand Prix, the India v NZ ODI and plenty more....if you've not tried i-pools yet this is the perfect way to get started. Good luck those who play :)

Even tho our hero Will Kassouf won't be there, we've thrown £500 in guarantees at our WSOP Main Event Final Table Coupon....just predict the action at Sunday's final, who will win, how many chips they'll have when it gets heads-up, what the winning hand will be, how many hands will be played in total, and you could be scooping some lovely cash. Three entry levels, £2, £10 or £25, u choose. Hope to see a few Blondes there showing off their poker tekker!! Won't add a direct link as might not be allowed but just heads to i-pools.com for info, good luck!!

Premier League Darts is back tonight and it's best enjoyed while playing our fantastic guaranteed prediction games!

Entry starts at £2 and goes up to our blue ribbon £100 entry in both the prediction coupon, where u score points for correct predictions and the top scorer scoops, and our last longest, where u just need to pick a player to win his week 1 match and you're through to next week.

There's plenty of overlay at the moment with nearly £3k guaranteed, so come join fellow blondes Lil Dave, Keith the Camel and Jeff the Jaffacake in the I-pools before 7 tonight!

Good luck!

Thursday Night is Premier League Darts Night!!

There’s at least £1,500 to be won again this week as the Premier League Darts moves on to Nottingham on Thursday evening. Last week Steve Warburton scooped over £1,100 in our Weekly Coupons, winning the £10, £25 and £100 entry games (though he could only manage third in the £2 entry!) answering questions like:

*Who will win this week’s games - Lewis v Chizzy, Taylor v Wade, Anderson v Klaasen, MVG v Wright, Barney v Huybrechts
*Who will hit the most 180s?
*Who will have the highest checkout?
*How many total legs and 180s will there be?

We’ve got the same guaranteed prizepools this week - £100 on the £2 entry game, £200 each on the £10 and £25 and £1,000 on the £100 entry - so what better way to enjoy all the action as the top dartists face off in front of another sell out crowd. We’ve also got another Last Longest game starting. Just pick a player to win their game this week, and if you’re still in last week’s game, don’t forget to make your pick!

It's Premier League Darts Night tonight! Can't have the Camel scooping the money again, as he said on twitter, jump on it, the water's warm...

Some serious beef will be settled in the Premier League Darts tonight as some bitter rivals go head-to-head in week 3 at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

At least £1500 will be won across our £2, £10, £25 and £100 Coupons tonight as we ask you to predict who will win each game, who will have the highest checkout and what it will be, and how many 180’s and legs will be played in total.

* First up it’s the all Scottish clash as world numbers 2 and 3 Gary Anderson and Peter Wright battle it out
* Two Englishman fight it out next as Adrian Lewis and James Wade face each other
* Next is the El Clasico of Darts as Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld meet for the 78th time, but the first since Barney knocked The Power out of the World Championship in December
* Sworn enemies Michael van Gerwen and Jelle Klaasen, whe openly hate each other, are fourth up. Can MVG keep his cool to claim another victory in this all Dutch affair?
* Calm is restored as Dave Chisnall and Kim Huybrechts meet in what already looks like a crucial relegation clash

Premier League Darts is in Brighton! We had some overlay in our £100 entry, £1k guaranteed game last week, won by Steve Warbuton. Fancy your chances this week?

At least £1,500 must be won in our Premier League Darts Coupon tonight as the best darts players in the world head for Brighton. Will Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and James Wade keep up the form that sees them joint top after three weeks? Just predict how they will get on, and more, and you could scoop some of the minimum £1,000 to be won in the £100 entry game, with at least £200 each in the £25 and £10 games and at least £100 in the £2. Tell us:

* Who will win each game (Chisnall v Klaasen, MVG v Lewis, Anderson v Wade, Taylor v Huybrechts, Barney v Wright)
* Who will hit the highest checkout and what will it be
* Who will hit the most 180s and how many will there be in total
* How many legs will be played altogether

We also have a unique Politics Special closing at 10pm - just predict what will happen in today’s Copeland and Stoke by-elections.

Hit us up with any queries or anything, and good luck!

Hi Simon, apologies, didn't see this message. Yes, you get a reminder the day before if you haven't made a pick. If u find you're not getting them it's probably that you've asked for no comms in preferences, but contact the guys on live support and they'll check for you

Fancy winning £1million for a fiver? You can at i-pools, first £1million Jackpot game closes this Friday.

We've introduced a series of games with a £1million Jackpot, you really could win life changing money at i-pools. Our 1st £1million Jackpot game is Beat the Streak....it's Premier League Last Man Standing, just gotta get a streak of 20 (so pick every team to win a game over 20 straight weeks) and you get the £1mllion bonus! It's hard, but not impossible. Our Last Man Standings cost £5, £25 or £100 to play (all guaranteed at £1000 for week 1 and there looks like being plenty of overlay!) and you're auto included in the £1million Jackpot.

Have a look at our blogs section to see one of the paths to winning this last year (had we run it) and other tips and expert opinion, or just jump in the games. Win £1million for a fiver? Yes please!

We'll have loads more £1million Jackpot pools coming up, if you've never tried i-pools, or it's been a while since you last gave us a go, come take a look, we're in the Major Leagues these days!

There's also a decent season predictor pool.

Predict the winner of various leagues and cups from England and the big leagues in Europe.

If 10 people put their i-pools username here I'll set up a private £2 blondepoker pool and I'll add £50 to the winner.

If you haven't got an account, norw is the perfect time to open one!

The Jackpot is insured in Lloyds so hopefully safe :) If not Keith is good for it

And by the way - we'll be running something like 45 Jackpot pools over the next twelve months on all different sports and game types. So plenty of ways to win!

And can I joint the blonde pool?

Just so you know, if you set up your own game on www.i-pools.co.uk and set the Invites option to "Allow others to invite" then anyone can invite anyone else - either by username or by email. The more the merrier

Good luck everyone! Please post any feedback - we're always looking for good ideas!

Remember while u play a private game/challenge u can also use the same answer to enter the main game, and have a shot at the big money, tho obv you're then playing against the general public! Can use the same pick either the long way round or just going to your private pool and clicking 'enter other pools with these answers', good luck everyone....

Not sure what happened this week. Camel and I both missed the deadline and Tal's pick lost but the pool has closed? Did you win it all Tal?

I don't know tbh. My achievements say I placed in the pool, rather than won, so I infer that means we chopped it.

I think you were awarded the prize

Luckbox Congrats Tal.

I'd be up for another one of these if people want to play again.

Oi oi

Just wondered whether the camel was adding the money to my ipools account or bank account :-)

Camel logs in & views most days (he was on blonde yesterday) but has not posted since mid-December.

There are a few other lads from I-Pools still active on the Forum though.

All sorted, cheers Keith.

Am happy to set up a couple of Blonde World Cup pools if people want.

World Cup predictor and team fantasy (basically pick 8 teams)
£5 entry to both.

Put usernames below if interested
