Mixed day for me really, Rojas fell off, Cancellara (my absolute favourite rider) just missed out again, but...............

Hugely impressed with Swift, looked one of the strongest with 25 km to go. Big step up for him & no doubt will make contract talks easier.

I've spent two hours poring over previews, results, bios and prices ... and I've reached the conclusion that I'd have more chance winning the pools than making money in this race. Contador would seem to be a decent favourite, but not so much that 3/1 represents anything like value. I'm looking at outsiders like Navarro, Aru and Atapuma ... but none of them make a strong enough case to finish inside the top 3. The only nugget I dug up is that Quintana is on antibiotics, so maybe if things don't go so well for him, Javier Moreno will have a shot at the last stage for Movistar.

I've had a banzai on Kelderman to win today, though. He's been sprinting well, and if Sky or Tinkoff-Saxo manage to split the peloton, he should be able to stay with them and have a chance on the line. I'm anti-railing the pure sprinters in Stage 1. Wish me luck.

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh. It's been one of those weeks months.

Mikael Cherel (AG2R La Mondiale) was the next to escape the peloton and the Frenchman was joined by compatriot Romain Hardy (Cofidis, Solutions Credits) and Wilco Kelderman (Belkin) on the descent.

The break's lead grew to 20 seconds, but disaster struck at a roundabout with approximately 10km remaining as both Cherel and Hardy took a wrong turn and rode off the course. As the parcours turned onto the wide open coastal highway Kelderman was now left alone in the lead and the Dutchman's escape came to naught inside the final five kilometres.

Was liking Wilco for stage 2. But missed 66/1 with BMU, now 33/1. Also missed Alaphilippe @ 33/1 now 10/1. boooooo

Dwars door Vlaanderen.

Boonen favourite, although it's considered he's fine tuning for E3 Harelbeke & later classics.

Valverede is in for cobbles training ahead of the TDF.

Generally a race for the second tier of riders to take their chances.

Two catch my eye.

Movistar's Fran Ventoso. In excellent shape all season, should be given the chance. Took 40/1 with skyB, although 50/1 is available with PP.

Jens Keukeleire, the Belgian riding for OGE. Confirmed target for this race. 7th & 10th in the past two years. 40/1 available in a couple of spots.

Both will need to make the final selection break & come to the line without Belkin's Hofland, the best sprinter in the field.

Won't be surprised to see strong rides by Roelandts, Stybar & Degenkolb.
