Title: BlueSq.com GUKPT Bolton: Day 1A - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on September 04, 2008, 01:45:34 PM
Welcome to Bolton, home of the very first leg of last year's GUKPT which was eventually won by Praz (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=353) Bansi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=353). I've not been here before and the cardroom is a major hike from pressroom, behind every corner was another corridor or staircase or something.

Snoopy is tucking into his sandwich also, despite the fact it's from the same garage, he's a brave/foolhardy lad.

A case of lol-first-hand-aments has struck the table of Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) Cox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) and Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=325) Gourlay (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=325). The under the gun player raised to 225 and Gourlay called in mid position with Cox calling from the big blind.

Ac 8h Ad

I missed the action at this point as an arguement was going on at the table next door, but I'm pretty sure it was checked around.

5d

Cox checks, UTG bets 700, Gourlay and Cox both call.

9s

Cox checks, UTG bets 2,000. Gourlay sighs and calls. Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) Cox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) thinks and says, "One of you must have it," and folds.

UTG shows 8d 8c, Gourlay shows Ahrt Qh and Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) Cox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) folded Aspades Js.

Paul said to Ian, "I could've got away from it if I had been in your position and you'd called!"

Dave Smith may be the recipient of more booty than Scrooge McDuck over the last year or two, but it looks like he'll be going home empty handed this time around after being knocked down to just 2,000 courtesy of foreboding Liverpudlian James Morgan. With the board reading Th 6h 7h 6c Aspades, James bet out just 2,000 into what was a 10,000 plus pot, and was quickly called by his GUKPT winning foe. As James showed a domineering Ac Ad, Dave mucked and commented, "I had trip tens." Whether we believe him not is one for the Jeremy Kyle lie detector test, but either way, he's been knocked down to the felt and will be searching for a double up in the very near future.

Insta-busto on Table 9 and it's Om Aggarwal. Obviously.

Whilst watching Andy Bradshaw and Vas Theophanous argue, (apparently Theophanous was talking about the hand having already folded) I felt a prod in the back from John 'Reggie' Perrin who pointed across to the table where Aggarwal's chip were all in the middle with Ahrt Ac on a Js Th 9d flop against Karim Jomeen's Kh Qc. A ray of hope on the Jh turn but £1,000 down the swanny on the 7s river.

Today's players.

Table Jen which coincidentally also holds 100% of the ginger-haired women playing today.

Paul Parker, Tony Phillips and the awesomely named Harry Zammit have not turned up yet. Oh maybe they all think Pete Linton smells.

More pots than Flushy's Cannes adventure at the moment.

First we lost Darren Hickman holding 9c 9d on a 9h 8h 2c board against Dean Lyall's Th 7h which caught the 5h on the turn and managed to avoid the pair up.

Next to them, Paul Gourlay is telling me about the preflop action that went min-raise, min-re-raise, min-re-raise between Andrew Leivers and Sammy Cheung. The board came down 8s Kd Td 6h 5d where Leivers made a very cautious check behind with Kc Ks and had seemingly missed a bet against Cheung's Ahrt Kh.l

Mick Fletcher, so often having a reputation of an 'any two cards, big stack at all costs' has had the filthometer rebound in his face. The board read Aspades 5h 3h Js Ks (not sure which way it had come out) and Fletcher dropped around 2,000 on the end with Ahrt Ac to Chris Wright's 9s 3s.

As Treguard would say..."Ooooh, nasty..."

Kevin Holdstock is out. Mick Fletcher holding the nut flush draw. Kevin Holdstock holding Q-J. A K-T-x two spade flop. A 9s on the turn and Kevin exiting with a face like a smacked bottom.

Jen and Sam Trickett have been sparring already. The board read 5h 5d 2c 6h Tc and Sam checked to Jen, only for her to check behind having paired the six on the turn and Sam checking his 6c 5c on the river thinking he could only get a bet from Jen if she'd missed and had to fire a bluff.

Another pot went away from Jen soon after in a pot against Sam Trickett and James Mitchell. All three checked the Qs 6s 5s flop before it was checked to Jen on the button who fired 600 when the Ahrt came up. Mitchell called and Trickett folded. Both checked the 7d river where Mitchell's Ac Tc was good enough for the pot.

Matt Tyler is nursing a disgustingly dirty stack, "I'm the updater's friend," he smiled. What had happened was, "I tried trapping aces with kings but slowed down because I thought he'd rivered a set of tens, should've lost my whole stack."

John McNeil is one of those who has lost his whole stack. All in on a 6h 2h 9d 8d Qc board with 7h 5h, his joy quickly turning to dismay when Gerald David called with Jh Th for the rivered straight, ahead of McNeil's turned straight.

Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) is out, apparently A-2 against A-A according to Womble.

After mothering his short-stack since level one, Dave Smith has finally been made to walk the long plank towards the door courtesy of Andrew Andreou. With the flop reading 3h 4h Qc, Dave found himself in all sorts of bother with Ks Qd against Greekfish's dominant 4c 4d. As the turn and river came 6c and Qs respectively, Dave rose from him seat and wished his opponents "good luck". "Unlucky mate," said Greekfish. "That was just salt into wounds."

Spoke to Jen in passing and she was still applying her pre-tournament strategy of 'tight is right' or, as she put it, "I don't want to go out early again so I just won't play a hand for the first two levels." I really go getter that one.

Someone who has been playing more than the odd hand is current chip leader GUKPT Cardiff finalist Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=806) Craig (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=806). He surely has around 30,000 after taking down numerous pots, including the scalp of Andrew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=26) Bradshaw (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=26). I didn't catch the hand myself, but neighbour Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) reliably informed that Bradshaw ran a flush draw into the turned two pair (A-Q) of Craig, which ultimately stood up on the blank river. "He's winning every pot, this guy," claimed a jealous Julian.

But not so, as just a few hands later, Julian was adding the necessary meat to his own stack, leading out for 1,100 on a 8h 4c Qc 3h 2d board before being being looked up, very reluctantly I might add, by Joe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=205) Grech (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=205). "I missed my flush," said Joe to a bemused Julian. Joe showed Qh 9h to justify his call, but it wasn't quite enough as Yoyo revealed Qd 8d for a flopped two pair.

A quick glance down at Michael (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279) Greco (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=279)'s bisected stack informed me he'd been getting his hands dirty early doors, and it didn't take long for me to locate the necessary hand history. According to the former Eastender, seat three (down as Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95), who doesn't seem to be here unless he has changed skin colour, dyed his hair black and endured hours of plastic surgery) raised it up preflop to 150 with A-K, only for Richard Sudworth to make it 750 a few seats along. Michael smooth called with queens from the small blind leading to a three way flop of 9-5-3 rainbow. The action was checked around to the reraiser who continue bet 1,500, leading to a disciplined fold from Michael and an inevitable pass from seat 3. "Even the big blind [John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1515) Eames (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1515)] folded A-K too," added Grego, still amazed at how the pot had remained so small.

Hovering over the balcony like a blood-thirsty vulture, my loitering was rewarded as I stumbled upon an all-in and a call from the table directly below. On a Ts 5s 4c flop, and with a decent amount already lying patiently in the pot, Terry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=427) Owens (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=427) found his all-in with Ad Td called by Simon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=402) Zach (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=402), the latter praying for a spade as he revealed his inferior Aspades 6s. But Simon's hopes were in vain, as the dealer popped out a harmless Jd and 2h on the turn and river respectively. "Yes!" exclaimed a clearly jubilant Owens as he sat back down in his seat.

Simon meanwhile, was left with just a couple of thousand, and once the blinds had passed him, he pushed over the top of Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=325) Gourlay (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=325)'s initial raise of 400. Paul made the near obligatory call with Ad Jh, and was possibly relieved to see that he was coin-flipping against Simon's 9c 9d. Although the 7d Qc 8h Js board looked to seal the fate of Simon, the Ts kept him alive and drew a rye chuckle from his frustrated opponent, Paul obviously not a stranger to the familiar teasing methods of the Poker Gods.

I'm am saddened to bring you news of Marta Pilipowska, if only because she may have been deemed more than worthy for consideration by the incessantly fussy NAS. It was Joe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=205) Grech (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=205) who brought her tournament to an abrupt end, The Joker calling an all-in push on a 5d Tc 9s 8h board with Kd Kh and being met by an in-need-of-one-of-two-outs Jd Jh. Thankfully for Joe, neither of the knaves arrived and Marta was gone.

No sign of any official chip counts yet (they may arrive at the conclusion of the current level), but I did grab a few miscellaneous chip counts as I trundled back to the press room, which, incidentally, is sweatier than a shot putters arm pit due to the breakdown of the air conditioning.

"Only five players who started on this table remain," said Julian Thew, recounting the tale of Jonothon Butters who moved in for 7k over the top of a 2k bet on a J-x-x board with Queens, he was surprisingly called by A-K which spiked a king on the turn. Meanwhile Jen is stuck in a bit of a rut declaring two pair on a Jc Tc 3c 9s 4h board but running into 3s 3d.

Alli Mallu has almost been felted getting into a blind on blind battle for an almost 20k pot with Ts Td against Ad Qh which hit two pair.

Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=806) Craig (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=806) raises to 800 from the hijack and the big blind (who previously knocked out Jonothon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1220) Butters (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1220)) called.

9s 7h 7d

Craig bets 900 after the BB checks, and with no hesitation the big blind jams his 20k stack straight into the middle. Craig shrugs and folds his Ahrt Ks face up. The big blind triumphantly shows 9c 9h for the flopped boat. A few smiles appear from some of the more experienced players on the table.

'Refusing to take it quietly' of the day:

In fact, this photo was taken just moments after Pete (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=348) Linton (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=348) doubled through. It wasn't a brisk affair though, and much deliberation was undertaken before Pete pushed his remaining chips over the line. His foe was Chris Wright (pictured below), who had his man dominated with Aspades Kc versus Ahrt Qc, but a Qs 4d 7h 5s 6s board soon put a stop to that and swiftly turned the tide in the favour of the Nottingham pro. As you can see from the quoted picture, he was more than jubilant in victory.

Lynne (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2360) Beaumont (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2360), who was last spotted in Newcastle, has recently enjoyed a double up - Aspades Qs versus Ahrt Jc surviving an uneventful 7h 3d 4d Kc Kh board.

'Skullman' Gerald David has also been busy doubling up his short stack (if this trend continues, we may never lose a player!). He was all in with kings versus aces, and managed to spike a set on the river to temporarily foil Sam Trickett's plans for GUKPT domination. The size of the pot (around 4.5k) means Sam is still smiling.

Players are just going on their 40 minute dinner break, just as we lost Mick Fletcher to Dyfed Price's set of fives. Adam 'Clarkatroid' is short but squeezed out a bunch of limpers and then showed Qs 6s to add a decent chunk to his stack.

Also improving after slow starts are Julian Thew and John 'Johnes147' Eames who are both on around 15k.

While I was munching on my jam roly poly (which I'm assured is "part of the cuisine up't north"), I manged to delve deep into the internal hand history accumulator that is Richard Hawes' memory and learn of an intriguing three way pot involving Andrew Andreou. According to Richard, Andrew raised it up preflop from the cut-off to 600, only for the button to make the call and the blind to bump it up to 2,650. After tanking for a good few minutes, Andrew eventually folded pocket kings (or so he claimed), and the button called. The button then proceeded to check call 4,000 on the J-9-8 flop, and then a final 5,000 on the deuce turn before being met by pocket aces. However, a ten on the river dealt out a cruel blow to defect the bullets and send the pot sailing over to the jubilant ladies.

Richard Hawes' brains weren't the only ones I was caught picking during the break. I also grabbed hold of Jen Mason to to prise out her tales of woe. "I had aces on one hand and just flat called a raise," she started. "I then raised his continuation bet on a king high two spades flop." "Just call, for pot control," suggested NoflopsHomer admantly. "I can't give him a cheap card with two spades on the board," replied Jen. "But he doesn't often have a flush draw there," came back the Floppster. As I remained blissfully ignorant on who to side with (I think I went with Jen because she's more terrifying), I urged for the story to reach a conclusion. "Well, he flatted my raise," she continued, and then check-raised me on the king turn. "I folded, and I'm sure he had the best hand. I didn't need to see his cards."

Confident of making the correct decision, Jen was nevertheless left to nurture a depleted stack, and one which had dipped as low as 2,500, but recent times have seen it flourish to 8,000 once again, partly due to the movement in her neighbouring seat. "I think Sam Trickett moving tables was the best thing that's happened to me today. The guy who replaced him limped in from the small blind one hand, and I checked my Ad-7d. I then called his bet on every street of an ace high board, with the flush arriving on the river. I didn't want to push the river, because the board was paired."

In the dinner queue, I ran into Paul Parker, who was keen to tell me of the departure of Mick Fletcher. "I think the board was 5-9-x-J, or something. One guy bet out 500, another raised it to 1,500 and Mick called. The bettor then pushed with a set of fives and Mick called with the opened ended straight draw, but didn't hit."

Wondering whether to opt for the Fisherman's pie or the shepherd's pie (possibly the most difficult decision he's faced so far), Paul continued, "I think it was this other hand that did it though, it was all downhill from there. Mick raised with queens, and called a reraise behind. He then called a bet on an A-K-x flop, before betting the raggy turn when his opponent checked. The guy then raised to make Mick fold the hand before showing J-6 off for a total bluff. I'm not sure why he fancied making a move, I think he just decided at the start of the hand that he was. Seemed a bit risky to me."

Julian's post tournament increase was in an unraised pot which came with a tantiliasing 7c 8c 9c flop, one guy led out for 600 and was min-raised to 1,200 with Julian making it 3,000. Just the min-raiser called, Thewy then bet the Qh turn and was called before setting his opponent in on the 7h river where his opponent passed 3c 2c apparently.

Sam Trickett, "Julian had the ace or king flush for sure and just knew the other guy had a smaller flush, he's not cold 4-betting there without close to the absolute nuts."

Sam still has a pretty solid stack himself and it's only a matter of time before the two GUKPT winners go at it...

Steve Craig has eliminated another opponent with K-J vs J-T on a Ks Td Jc 2c 3c board, all-in on the flop. He's a bunch alongside Thewy, Sam Trickett and Miroslaw Klys who are all sitting with 30k+ stacks, but I get the feeling this table could be like Highlander...

There can be only one....

"He had a flush draw versus a bigger flush draw and didn't hit." "How many chips did he have at the time," I asked. "Hmm, about 5,000 I think."

Chips ahoy at table Gourlay as Terry Owens finds himself all in against Richard Hawes on a 3c 9d 9s 4c board. He's in good shape though, with Kc Tc against Richard's Aspades 9h. The board didn't pair, leaving Richard with shrapnel which later went in with Aspades 5s versus Ac 9c. No help once again cemented his downfall, and he was gone.

Double up for Paul Gourlay and a nice suckout too. He was all-in with Qd Qs against Aspades Ad but managed to finish off better, 2c Qh Jd 7h 9c. He's now up to about 15k.

Meanwhile Michael Greco has a face like thunder and is storming off into the Bolton night. He had bet a Ks 9s 2c Aspades on the flop and moved in on the turn and was called by CT Law with the surprisingly weak 7s 7h, but the fomer Eastender's Ahrt Jd couldn't weather the 3s river which flushed away his hopes.

Greco was pretty incredulous at the fact he had been called on the flop, "How could you call?" he asked. All his opponent could muster was, "There was too much in the pot for me to fold."

Pete Linton has been knocked out by Paul Parker with his 3-3 failing to hold against Parker's K-J who is up to the dizzy heights of 17k. Go on the rocks!!!

A twenty minute break.

Four guys I think could make the final:

Sam Trickett -- 20k
Rob Sherwood -- 31k
Alli Mallu -- 35k (3k at level 3)
Julian Thew -- 40k

"10BB, shove on the button with Q-9 vs table rock, he snap-calls with A-K. Game over."

"It's a roller coaster this," observes Victor Kaye, just moments after doubling up Paul Gourlay with aces versus queens when a queen hit the flop. "It's all right," said Paul as he stacked his newly acquired 18,000 stack. "He just did the same to someone else just a few seconds ago with queens v kings."

Julian Thew is the chip leader with 65k. Best tournament player in Europe at the moment?

Last month's winner Sam Trickett is up to 40k after knocking out Colin Wu. He called the Wu button raise and then check called 2k on a Qc 3h 3c flop before check/raising a 5k bet on the Js turn to 12.5k. Wu moved in with Ac Qh and Sam quickly called with a skanky 3d 7d which held on the 8c river and puts last month's winner among the contenders.

Life is sweet.

Play has really slowed but Anthony Shields has just doubled up his stack to 12k having shoved from middle position before being called by Kareem Jomeen's Ac Qs whilst Shields could only muster Js 9c.

A Td Qh 2s 3s Ks board later though and it was the short stack that was celebrating, whilst Jomeen utter the internet player's typical cry of "I run so bad," as he stack his remaining 500, 100 and 25 chips into a meeker stack of around 6k.

Harry Zammit (pictured) is out, and exited in rather unfortunate circumstances too. All in with Ks Ts ("Oh, I'm ahead"), Harry was looked up by David Paul who had Kd 6s. Whilst the 7d 8d 7c Th board looked good, the 9d river wasn't, and following a brief collective gasp from the table, Harry picked up his belongings and left the cardroom disgruntled.

The board reads Ks 8h 7h and Womble checks, Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) Sherwood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) bets 3.5k and Womble now makes 8.5k. But Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) Sherwood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) moves all-in. A deep sigh from the Womble and eventually he says, "Ok, I'll give you credit for a set of eights" and passes.

I think Rob has to have Quad Kings with a Royal Flush redraw minimum here to make this move...

The Rich Get Richer...

First Dominic Rossookh knocks out Lynne Beaumont after he button raises with Qs Qd and she makes a stand with Ks Jc. No help from the board and she's gone, while he is on almost 100k now.

Anto Farkas is OUT. He went out with Kd Qc blind on blind against Sam Trickett's Qs Qd. The board bricked out.

"Golden" said Paul Gourlay.

"Golden" said Womble.

"Golden" said Rob Sherwood.

Meanwhile Sam has been ribbing Rob Sherwood after the former raised to 2k with the latter shoving for 40k. "He gone all Leo Kam on me!" said last month's winner. "He knows he can't 3-bet me because I'm going to 4-bet him to pieces!"

And just when you think this table couldn't get more interesting. Alli Mallu gets moved to this table with a decent stack...

A few chip counts for you to feast on:

Mark (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=265) Lowe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=265) -- 7,250
Christopher Bell -- 15,000
Richard Swerling -- 14,725
Andrew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=25) Andreou (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=25) -- 41,200
Sammy Cheung -- 14,425
Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) Sherwood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) -- 43,550
Ali (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=23) Mallu (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=23) -- 62,650

Disaster for Adam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1855) Clark (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1855) who really doesn't seem to run particularly well in these events. His final encounter of the night saw him get it all in with Ks Kd versus the Ad Ahrt of Victor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1147) Kaye (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1147) on a 6s Kc 4c 7c board. However, the Poker Gods work in mysterious ways and dealt Adam the cruelest of blows by ordering a third ace to hit the river. Whilst Victor was understandably elated in victory, Adam was stoic as he departed and may be getting home in record time.

As we crept into the final level of the night, Richard Swerling enjoyed a timely double up courtesy of Christopher Bell. It was a simple affair in the end, tens versus jacks on an ensuing 6-K-4-7-A board.

Stephen Montgomery is a Mont-goner. His short-stack shove with Ac Kd was looked up by Dfyed Price's Aspades Jc.

4s 9h 8s Th and an arse-clenching river Qd.

Sooner after, it's a similar pukeathon for Adam 'Clarkatroid' Clarke, all in on the turn of a 6s Kc 4c 7c board with Ks Kd against Victor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1147) Kaye (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1147)'s Ad Ahrt until...disaster, the Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=478) Greenstein (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=478) special. It's the Aspades river. Because it's always the Aspades river...

Finally, it's Wombletime baby!!

Having been re-raised off a couple of hands, Womble ends up calling Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334) Parker (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=334)'s all-in but his 9d 9h are marketly inferior to Parker's Qc Qd but the board peels off with a 9s the first card out, followed by 2s 7s ("Keep the spades coming" shouts Paul) 2c Ks. Parker is gone, but Womble remains. If it's any consolation, I think a ParkerCam should be our next step.

I didn't see how it happened, but when the cards were on their backs, it was Paul who had his nose slightly in front with 4s 4c versus Ali's Ks Qh. The Jh 3c 8s was safe, but the Kh turn wasn't, and by the 2d river Ali had inscribed yet another notch on his poker bedpost.

20 remain.

And Andy Greekfish, is a lucky, lucky boy.

David Paul limped for 1k with about a 30k stack. Mallu limped, as did another player and the small blind made up.

During this Greekfish gave a bit of banter about how he was going to move all-in and how no-one would be able to call... He then looked at his cards and immediately moved all-in for 35k. David Paul thought for about five seconds before calling and the others got out of the way.

"Oh no, I'm in bad shape here, you've got me, I'm in real trouble..." said a nervous Andy flipping Qc 9c. Amazingly Paul had called off his 30k with Ahrt 9h. But fate is a fickle mistress and the board came out 4c 9s 4h Qs 5d and a slightly embarrassed Greekfish was left with a big pot but a red face, a sacrifice most would be willing to take at this point.

This left us with two tables meaning we've finished for the night. See you tomorrow!
