Well, its just aboit over, but there are still some heads up matches yet to be played to decide the overall winner. The points situation so far is John 109 pts Jen 107 pts James 105 pts They have to play each other heads up twice each for 5 points per match. These will take place at Walsall on Thursday afternoon. This was not be and Jen sealed the match and the Unusual Suspects title with victory - and will now be heading off to Monte Carlo for the €10,000 European Poker Tour Finale!!! Very well done Jen!! In order to make the final match competitive, Blue Square added a £500 tourno entry for the 2nd place finisher, which James duly tied up by beating John in the final heads up encounter. All the Unusual Suspects performed excellently over the months of competition but there could only be one winner and I'm sure everyone who has followed this contest will be wishing Jen the best of luck at the EPT. Title: Re: Unusual Suspects Final Heads Up Matches - Walsall Post by: Ginger on February 24, 2006, 06:41:46 PM Sorry for the lack of updates on the post midnight session, the games had to wait until someone was out of the £500 to play against James ( he pulled out of the comp last minute, as I had come down, awwwww :-* ) Jen was the first of the 2 to be knocked out, and it wasn't until around 3am that the Jen/James match started, both played very well and I truly believe it could of gone either way. James was getting great starting hands, but Jen was hitting big time! Eventually the chips went in with both having pocket pairs, James with pocket 5's and Jen with pocket 10's no help for James on the board and Jen took it down.
Well done Jen!!! John v James started at around 4am ( groan ) and lasted right up until the were going to kick us out ( 6am), lasting around 1 3/4 hours, again both played very well with both James and John going very low on chips before staging a comeback. Tbh I can't even remember the winning hand now, I think we had all given up the will to live by that point lol. James is happy with the way things turned out( I think I am more gutted than he is lol) of course he would of loved to win the seat but if he wasn't going to get it I know he would want Jen to instead. Jen truly is a lovely girl and we both wish her the best of luck in Monte Carlo. I would also like to give a BIG thank you to Trace, she did a wonderful thing by looking after my "little darlings" for the night, not something that many people would do and they had a fantastic time (wanted to stay longer! lol ) and we will definitely remember what Trace has done for us. It meant a great deal to be able to be there to support James on such a big night. I won't go on and on but i just want it known how much i appreciate the chance blue square took on myself, i think i have proven it was a worthwile investment, infatc myself and Jen started as the outsiders and came 1-2!!! Kudos to BSQ for the chance. I also want to wish Jen the best of luck in Monte Carlo, i really hope she does well and i have spoken to Tikay, i will be taking Jen's role as an updater in Monte Carlo so will be there to root her on in person :D I know Jen felt it was cruel to come down to 1 headsup game, as we all know anything can happen in HU, the final game was rather short i will admit, but she deffo had the making of me in the first game we played as i cutely played my JJ on the 9 hi flop to the point that i lost half my chips, lol! Jen got the cards but she played them great, long may it continue! Another word for blue square, especially Mr Raab, he realised that the last match would be pointless so added a £500 seat for the 2nd place player, it was a great fun afair (last day of school syndrome!) we were all enjoying the champagne bought from the kitty of the previous game (yes we were playing for a seat in monte carlo but Jen and i decided to have £10 on the side aswell to 'sweeten the pot') the higlight of the game was actually the rail, especially the creative sidebetting from River Dave and Mr Parker. It really was good fun and a great way to finish it all of, just like the way it all started! Flushy may as well ahve played the £300 instead of twiddling his thumbs all night if they were gonna suspend it when the others fancy it. Making criticisms without knowing facts, how daft is that? They were all due to play the £500, which is why we suspended play. Flushy then decided he didn't fancy playing it and withdrew, even though he was already bought in. Sorry i remember reading this as i read the thread but forgot to coment on it. The situation was we all agreed not to play the 300 so we could play the HU games. These then ran into the £500 which all 3 of us were going to play. Infact blue square had paid me in. Now Jane had got down to Walsall and she didnt need to go back up to manc the same night, so we had a rare childless night, so i then pulled out of the £500, which was actually a bit of a mission as the money had to go back through blue square, which Jon sorted for me, whilst dealing a HU game! It was never a case of the others 'fancing it' its just i decided to not play the £500, and that was a lot more hassle for Jon than if i had played it!!
