To describe the scene, there is a concentrated corner that is forever England, a handful of home fans and a cacophony of south Americans.

The alpha male of the third group, a Brazilian Banter Weaver, wearing a Corinthians football shirt, is presently videoing the final in his iPhone 5 and streaming it to a group to friends via whatsapp. In order not to deprive all around him, he is also providing expert commentary on everything going on, talking at a machine gun-like pace, but in such a way that you know, even without knowing a word of Portuguese, he's more Andy Townsend than Norman Chad.

The inimitable, imperious Deadman, ever resplendent in a pink crop top and fluorescent tutu red jumper, looks so comfortable you'd think he'd done it all before...
