First attempt at sound editing, and first attempt at video editing, and it would have been better if I'd had the idea that I was going to put them together like this when I was taking them, and it would have been better if I'd had all the heats and finals to take photo's of and I could probably think of more things to bear in mind, but that'll do for now.

Nice one Jon.

Love the regimented position of the seated judges pic and the one where they have just jumped into the water but look like they are standing on top of the water

Was the music you had too long originally? If so do you not have the option to slow down the rate at which the pics turn over?

You can change the length of time each picture is on screen and you can change the time of the transitions.

When I loaded all the pictures and made them up on screen for the time I wanted them to be it came to 3m10 - the original song length is 5m33 - I cut 2 minutes off the song using the programme Adam suggested - Audacity (the beta version for Vista).

Then I added the titles and credits and played around with their length to extend the video length by the extra 20ish seconds I needed.

There's a lot of scope with both windows movie maker and Audacity to tailor it all exactly as you want it, might need LOTS of playing around to work out both of those programmes full capabilities though.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me i didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life.

Great job on the video Jon.  Really nice to meet you in Brighton too.

I found when I started editing pictures into video, or just video for that matter, that each iteration of video I made got more and more slick the more I played around.

A bit like poker where the ones who study a lot and practice get luckier and luckier. ;-)
