Title: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 04, 2010, 11:19:33 AM Hello and Welcome back to DTD for the latest renewal of the DTD Monthly Deepstack, this time updated by Myself and Sharplea.
Last month's event was a corker. Won by Daniel "Kinboshi" Phillips and set alight by the play of Andrienna "dreenie" Nutt. Will this month's be similar? Well not in one respect because, priorities all wrong, Mr Phillips is in Nevada but the Monthly Deepstack, now the pre-eminent monthly on the tournament calendar in my opinion, always throws up a story or two and Sharplea and I will bring those to you over the next 48 hours. Play begins at 3pm, and around or about 300 runners are expected to play. If you would like us to follow a friend or family member, please ask on here, and join us later on for the action..... Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 04, 2010, 12:51:37 PM To get the essential stuff out of the way before I get busy later
DTD pay for these updates, and they wouldn't be possible without them and we're incredibly grateful for DTD's support Any support of the DTD Online cardroom via blonde Poker (see the banners on the forum) would be greatly appreciated to not only keep these updates going but also to allow us to do GUKPTs and the like, and then investing further in the site as and when we can. You can do support for example by playing MTTs in the current blonde League....http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=49397.0 Added value of two DTD Deepstack/£200 seats in that, again provided by DTD or playing some events in the €60,000 Gadget giveaway in September http://www.dtdpoker.com/60k-gadget-giveaway.php or just merely contributing some of your online play our way. Thanks in advance Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: Laxie on September 04, 2010, 01:19:17 PM Can't believe you posted the list without blonde members in bold and their forum names next to them. Made it, which was looking rather doubtful when I hit the A51 at 11:30am (planned arrival in Notts, 1pm) and got stuck behind a tractor. Which refused to pull over. 5 miles, 3 near crashes and 3 bottles of water later, Joobs manages to get past it and we head for the A500. Well, until we found the road blocked due to a 3-car head on collision. Diversions later, we manage to make it to our hotel for 2pm, so after the obligatory 3 s's (only one was successful - try and guess which), I've finally arrived here just in time for the start. So, shoutouts, requests, interviews with the flotsam...all will be here. Enjoy the next 2 days as we try to get every big hand (and miss quite a few of them!) I arrived after the Th 4c 3s flop had been dealt, with Sinem Melin betting 650. Short-stacked Harper then shoved for about 2700, and Melin made the call holding 3c 4s, a sneaky bottom two pair ahead against Harper's Qs Qc. The turn and river came 8s and Js, giving Melin the pot and sending Harper to the rail 10 minutes after the tournament started. Das was the only caller and the two saw a flop of Ts 8h Th. Townsend fired out 200 into the pot of 2100 and Das called. The turn was the 2c and Townsend again fired 600. Das tanked but eventually passed.

Which Wales somehow won. And England came last.
Whilst the "debate" rages, Chris Alexander flopped the proverbial canine dangly-bits holding Ks 5s on a 4s 8s Aspades flop. He bet flop and turn, only to see the board be completed by Ad 8h. His opponent, the brilliantly named Anon, then bet 1600 on the river which lead Mr Alexander to complain loudly and fold face up. Chris Alexander is now out and not very happy about it. He got it all in against Anon again with 10-10 vs K-Q on a K-K-3 flop. No help on the turn and river saw Chris head to the rail. The new tournament starts this month. It will be guaranteed at £40,000 due to the massive competition in London (EPT/WSOPE et al). DTD are going to look at the turnout of this month, but current plans are probably to guarantee both at £50,000 for a total of £100,000 guaranteed per month in £300's alone, before £150's etc are accounted on top. Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: KarmaDope on September 04, 2010, 06:41:32 PM Over on Table Alien Sr, Drainy just had to fold on a 8c Ks Th flop after betting 1500 when checked to, only to see Jimmy Cairns check-raise to 4000. Maybe Drainy will read this and tell the world what he had, because he looked rather annoyed at having to fold...
Andy O'Flaherty wasn't happy when he turned a flush holding 2h 4h on a Th 8h 7d Qh board, only to see the Jh on the river and Vincent Price move all in. Andy mucked and claimed "I would've called against a strong table but on this table I know I can get 'em back!" I can hear Ade Bayo from here - he's down by the cash desk and I'm in the top right hand corner. Says it all, really, easily the loudest man in the room. It's working for him again... Players are now on a 25 minute break. Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 04, 2010, 06:42:58 PM 25 minute breaks today as a few dealers were no-shows...short of dealers then and having to ensure everyone gets proper breaks with 350+ players in the building tournaments/cash

My KK RRAI vs JJ and 88 obv can't win Marv Yet you're still in, Mr Drainy! As is Dean Morris, who now has about 25k. I asked him "get all those outplaying the flotsam down the streets?" He simply said "Yeah, easy when you get Aces innit". Tommy C on the same table has taken a massive hit - so I'm naturally assuming he was the unlucky player. She commented that I was teaching her how to update, and Jim Reid & Andy Brennan then tell me to watch as they play a hand as bad as can be played. Jim then min raises to 400 and Brennan passes, but Steve Nash and the blinds call. The flop comes down 7-7-Q and it's checked to Jim who fires 800. All fold to laughter as Jim shows the 7s. Afterwards, one of the players says "I'd have called but when the second 7 came down you did this" and then proceeded to do some sort of weird motion with their face!

I suppose his aggressive style gets him some gifts along the way
I join the latest hand with him betting 2,200 on a flop of 5d 5h 9d and receiving a call on the button from Neil Wallace On a 4d turn Tommy bets 4,500 and Mr Wallace pushes for 10,000 with about as much fold equity as a retired Origami expert who has lost the use of his hands Tommy insta calls with Ahrt 9h Wallace shows the donktastic 9c 2d, having called a pre-flop raise Well, at least he has a re-draw to diamonds river Qs and Tommy Cunningham is our chip leader with 80,000 (http://lh6.ggpht.com/_M7mySuUsa6c/TIKj30GoZ9I/AAAAAAAANEc/sBtiFdmX46I/IMG_3698.JPG) Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: KarmaDope on September 04, 2010, 09:08:01 PM Latest exits:

Tariq Arees just knocked out Steve Wright with K-K vs Q-8 all in preflop. Board ran out 9-K-6-6-7 to send Steve home in the last level of the day. Mark Attridge just crippled TommyC when they got it all in on a Qs 6c 4s flop. Attridge had Ahrt 6h and Tommy had Aspades 2s, which missed on the Ad and 9c turn and river. Tommy has about 25k left I think... Notable players returning for Day 2 include Alan McBride, Lawrence Gosney and Mickey Wernick. Representing the young guns we have Mark Attridge, Simon Deadman and Jonathan Titcombe. Anybody (I'm looking at Trigg here) fancy setting what they think the bar is on the age of the winner? Play restarts tomorrow at 2.45pm as usual. Please come and join myself and Tighty (with the odd appearance from Joobs and Cottonbud) as we bring you the conclusion of this month's DTD Deepstack. Tighty's insisted on staying to post the chip counts, so from me and Joobs, it's goodnight and see you all in 12hrs time! Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 05, 2010, 01:52:16 PM Some information about our Day 2 field
Jonathan Titcombe. From Swindon. "5toneface" online, staked by James Williams. 15th is his best result in a DTD Deepstack Christopher Brion Unknown to me, unknown to results databases. We'll change that today. Bodo Wagner 4th in a recent £300 at the GUKPT Vic Summer Series Simon Deadman . LAG maniac, one of the best chip-getters you can find. Yet to convert a massive stack into a top result in these but its coming.... Lawrence Gosney. WSOP Bracelet winner from Leeds. Famously loose style, very active, in a lot of pots, calls light a lot. A monster with chips, if he can keep them Chris Roadknight No, I don't know either, sorry Mark Attridge No database form to speak of, but often features in updates on this event with big chip stacks. Another one with all to prove today Martin lawton 25th is his best result in this but has form across the country. Won 2008 Xmas Cracker event at Luton and lots of fessie results at Southend Kevin Pearce. Kevin is what Duran Duran would look like if they stayed up all night playing poker, working as a Golf Pro during the day. Finalist in this two months ago That's the top ten chip leaders coming back today.... Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 05, 2010, 02:01:27 PM some of the rest...
Vincent Price. No not the Horror actor but young lad who shipped the £500 Walsall Summer Series main event for £19k two years ago Rana Gurnam Experienced and successful tournamnet pro from Cardiff. Three five figure scores in the UK in the last three years Micky Wernick. Again, Micky goes deep. Prolific grinder with a hugely successful long term record. Many ups, many downs. but always there or thereabouts Sean Quinn. 2nd Day 2 in a row for the Irishman from Swindon Peter Wigglesworth Winner of this earlier in the year in the "deal of the century". Becoming a regular at events across the country, and much imporved record in 2010 Alan McBride. Lucky from Luton. Steady and solid player, great 2009 including GUKPT final, poor 2010 but back to form with a big 2nd at the Vic recently Paul Gardener. Swampy from the North East. A successful fixture on the circuit for many years Yucel Eminoglou. The Mad Turk from Walsall. Mad, turkish. Sometimes a delight, depending how the mood takes him. Anon. Often represented at these deepstacks but has only once made a final table Which is just as well for head-scratching updaters afraid of annoying him and his relationship with the CSA Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: Eso Kral on September 05, 2010, 02:14:03 PM Good luck to Martin Lawton today and it was good to put face to names meeting Tighty and Sharplea yesterday.

Roadknight put his head in his hands in despair as he could only flip 9s 9d, and with the Jh peeling off the turn, Roadknight had 2 outs to win on the river. He'd got really short after calling a few preflop raises and having to lay down, and ended up shoving Ahrt 8s from EP, only to see Chris Brion move all in behind him holding As Jd. No help for the Luton reg on the Qh 5d 6s 4c Td board (suits not entirely factual, I got there as the river was being dealt) and he was headed for the rail just shy of the cash. Bodo Wagner 4th in a recent £300 at the GUKPT Vic Summer Series Simon Deadman . LAG maniac, one of the best chip-getters you can find. Most recent hand, he snap-called a Mark Attridge raise on the button and Bodo Wagner came along in the BB. They all saw a 7h 3c 9d flop and it was checked to Gosney, who bet 15k. Wagner called and Attridge folded. The turn was the 3h and Wagner checked again. Gosney fired 35k and that was enough for Wagner to tank-fold. Attridge made up from the SB and Gosney made it 38k from the BB. Wagner called and everyone else passed.
The flop came down Ts Qd 2s and both players checked. The turn was the Jh and Gosney checked. Wagner bet 45k and Gosney called. The river was the 8c and both players checked, which is where it got interesting. Wagner flipped Th Td for a set of tens and Gosney just sat there with a rueful smile on his face. The dealer then pushed the pot towards Wagner and killed the board. Gosney's cards were still behind the "line". As this happened, TD Richard came over to do the chip race and Lawrence immediately asked what would happen if he declared a winning hand, as the board had been scooped by the dealer and Wagner was stacking the pot. Richard ruled that as the dealer had not shuffled, the pot was still live and if Gosney was able to show a winning hand, then the pot would be rebuilt and sent Gosney's way. Lawrence then slowly turned over the Kc and said that any Ace or any 9 the pot was his, Richard confirmed this. A laugh, and the Tc was flipped. Relief on Wagner's face, who thought the pot was over because the dealer had scooped the board! An innocuous looking flop of 8c 5c 4s saw Brion, Gosney and Jonathan Titcombe all with cards. Gosney bet 27k and Titcombe called. Brion raised to 100k and Gosney moved all in! Titcombe passed as Brion snap called, as you do with the nuts - 7c 6s. Lawrence had 5h 4h and missed on the Jh Td turn and river. Brion had 400k after the flop so that pot was worth about 900k and Brion is a massive chip leader! Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 05, 2010, 09:35:54 PM Lawrence ftw Lawrence is a real character. Quite the most acerbic sense of humour since I don't know when I am watching the final table behind Wagner, who has an interestingly unconventional habit of limping into two thirds of pots. Gosney then usually raises The action comes back to Wagner and Lawrence leans over and asks me "tell me what's he's got pal. Will help me out" I tell him that I haven't seen and Lawrence gives me a stare like a Leeds United fan after Leicester City have hit a habitual last minute winner against them He holds the glare for 90 seconds or so, then breaks into a huge grin, just as I am wondering if I am about to be lamped. Fun times updating in 2010. Always watch your back Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 05, 2010, 09:38:33 PM and in this current break Lawrnce sidles over to update corner and says
"Now who's been writing shite about me on that blonde Poker?" Adam stammers, then bolts under the desk I say "well you are a character Lawrence, lots to talk about because of your speechplay" "OK then, just to say, I am never on tilt and I am the King of Yorkshire" (OK so I made the King of Yorkshire bit up) Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: Laxie on September 05, 2010, 09:43:14 PM I'm all for McBink v Lawrence heads up if can arrange it. He limped preflop UTG+1 and Wagner made up the SB. Kevin Pearce checked the BB and they saw a 2c Kd 7h flop. All 3 checked and then suddenly, Wagner open-shoved the 7s turn! Pearce passed and Wu snapped. As you do when you have 7c 7d for quads. Wagner had 8h 2s and was drawing rather dead... Folded to Alan in the cutoff, he open shoved a shortstack of 160k, but found Jonathan Titcombe re-shoving behind him. Titcombe easily had Alan covered, and was also ahead, holding Ahrt Qh to Alan's Js 8h. Alan was ahead after the flop of 5d 4d 8c, but the turn and river were killer Ad Aspades to give Jonathan trips and send Alan back to Luton £2,840 richer. As they do this, Brion raises to 60k (standard right now, except for Titcombe who is making it 50k when he raises) and Wagner 3-bet to 152k. Brion called and they saw a 7h Js Ad flop. Both checked, and Brion checked the Jc turn to Wagner who bet 150k. Brion moved in for not much more and Wagner was priced into call. Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: TightEnd on September 06, 2010, 12:11:31 PM Think its a shame a deal was done........... The payout will usually guarantee one though, unless you get someone who values the win more than a pay-day (eg Gosney, if he had made it that far) Here you had an inexperienced player at this level in Wagner, a youngster in Wu and two recreational players in Brion and Garrett Looking at a slice of £57,000 out of the £85,000 prize pool the DTD standard payout structure http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/tournamentpayout.php puts 70% in the top 4 spots....its too top heavy for most people not to deal I agree that Wagner could have got more, but he didn't have a mindset of even thinking that way Title: Re: DTD Monthly Deepstack September 2010 Post by: Fluence on September 06, 2010, 12:25:59 PM More bizarre dealing. The short stacks should be attempting to push for more money here. The 4th place guy is only getting 3k more than he was guaranteed anyway but is missing the chance for potentially 20k more. + 1 We have this discussion every month (and soon twice a month) 1 - £26,374 - £20,295 2 - £15,419 - £17,323 3 - £9,251 - £10,783 4 - £6,492 - £9,128 It always seems that the big stack gets the best of it as they are also handed the "title" as well. Don't forget if the Big stack had a disaster and went out 4th (however unlikely) he'd potentially lose £20k and £13.5k from the guaranteed deal. They have the most to lose not the shorties. Short stack actually got £2,636 more than if he had been knocked out in 4th anyway. Where an extra £17,246 was possible or £19,882 if the deal was refused. He gets 7.5/1 on his £2,636 if he gambles. Also he only needs to ladder up 1 place if they play on and he's guaranteed more than the deal. If I was him I would not settle for less than £12k. If not agreed he may as well just shove in blind every hand and see what happens. At the blind levels they were at, it would only have to go un-called for a few hands for him to have significantly more chips.
