Title: CambridgeAlex GUKPT Luton Main AUCTION
Post by: cambridgealex on October 17, 2012, 03:12:14 PM
Hi guys, auctioning off 15% of my action in this weekends £1070 GUKPT main event in Luton. It starts on Friday, so we'll end the auction at midnight on Thursday. On a bit of a heater at the moment so playing the rush...Am driving down tomorrow to make sure am well rested for the early (!) start on Friday.

1% starts at £10.70 / 10% starts at £107.

http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=186500

Auctions rules as standard:

Everyone who is interested in buying a piece should make a bid for a certain percentage with the maximum price they would be prepared to pay for that piece. e.g. pleno 5% @ 1.8
All the bids are arranged in descending order by price* and the top 10 percentiles** at 00:00 on Friday 19th October win the auction.
Every winner pays the price of the lowest winning bid.

*In the event of a tie, the bid made first chronologically will take precedence
**This may involve one person receiving only part of the percentage that they bid for.

You can make as many bids as you like, e.g. if you would buy 10% at 1.1 but only 5% at 1.2, you can make 2 bids, 5@1.1 and 5@1.2, if the strike price finishes 1.1 or below you will have 10%, between 1.1 and 1.2 you will get 5% and over 1.2 you won't buy any.
Bids will be rounded to 2 decimal places, i.e. 1.333 will be considered the same as 1.33 and ranked chronologically
Bids are binding and cannot be withdrawn, I am ending the auction in plenty of time to chase everyone up for payment before the event.
To prevent any <0.5 shenanigans, the minimum price will be 1.0
In the event of some unforeseen dispute arising the referee's* decision will be final.

Not sure how this works but meh
10% @ 1.0 :)

The bids before you were:

EdG 5% @1.4
Kinboshi 5% @ 1.2
Rupert 15% @ 1.1

This means that since I'm only selling 15%, you cannot buy any at 1.0, since 15% has been sold at 1.1. The current price is 1.1, Ed and Kin have their 5% since their bids are higher than Ruperts, who gets the remaining 5%.

Any new bids must be >1.1 to stand a chance :)

What if you need to re enter?

I'm unlikely to re-enter. Pretty specific events will have to take place for me to re-enter. Mainly being I'd have to bust in the first 3/4 levels and not be at all tilted. I don't like late-regging / re-entering late on, I find tons of the chips are to be made in the early levels, especially as I play deepstacked well, so I don't like missing out on those levels - I think lots of the "value" is there.

If I do choose to re-enter I'll check with whoever wins the action whether they're in for another bullet.

Just woke up in 'middle of night' (9am), remembered about this auction and checked it on my phone. Seems I caused some confusion with me bidding at 1.4 then deleting it. Sorry about that! I don't really fully get how these auctions work. I thought my bid had been outbid and put in a bid at 1.4. Then realised that I had simply 'outbid myself' so I pretty much instantly deleted it. Or something like that, I can't quite remember what I was thinking... I was having a silly stu day yesterday.

Anyway, can you send me bank details please Alex? I'm going back to sleep now but will put money in when I wake up. Probably mid afternoon. Tourney may have started by then, but I assume you trust I'm not going to knock you? Right, back to sleep...

You weren't only outbidding yourself though Stu. You were also outbidding anyone who might have been waiting to pounce at the last minute with a 1.28 offer.

If you put 1.4 at 11.50pm it might stop someone who was going to bid 1.35 at 11.59pm. If you then delete your bid after the auction closes that person would have missed out and so would Alex.

Obviously it's not a major issue because we're only talking £20 but it's something to be careful of in more serious auctions.

Yep I get that now. Oops. Only thing to say is that I didn't put in the bid just before closing time, and I basically SNAP deleted it when I realised what I had done. Can't have been up there for more than one minute. Anyway... still not been able to get back to sleep yet. When I do eventually manage to sleep I am likely going to end up sleeping right through till after Alex's tournament has started, and I'd prefer to have paid him before he starts (just because it is good form right?). Alex is likely asleep, so if anyone reading this can PM me Alex's bank details then I'd appreciate it - then I can transfer him the money and get to sleep knowing it is all sorted.

It's not really a major issue, Stu deleted his post, whether that be on purpose or mobile misclick if it's not itt then for the sake of clarity in these things it can't be counted.

Bad news, dribbled down to 16k from 20k. Then 3bet Ks 4s vs Mr Lee who was opening like 82s and peeling 3bets oop etc, so I wanted to get pots with him and have the initiative as he was playing pretty face up post flop.

Cbet Ac Qs 6d 1500 he calls

3s he donks 3k, I have 13k back. Expecting to see Ax here a bunch sometimes Qx and that he'll fold, so I jammed which I think I have to do with the flush draw. He calls with Aspades 5s which is obviously not good for us.... :(
