Isn't that the point of the lottery? "Normal people" can afford to put the odd pound on it for the chance of the life changing money. I find it the same with the scratchcards they do. If I have a spare quid when I'm at the shop I might pick one up (or in the case of being drunk at the shop 1 of each). I don't really expect to win anything except the odd pound here and there. I'd never put any serious effort into either of them though, not worth it obviously. I find syndicates the same, just that now unless one of you binks the JP you're unlikely to get anything of worth back. That said, lots of people throwing some money in and lots of tickets to sweat on a sat night does sound like good fun.
