Title: WSOP Event # 12 - $2,000 PLO
Post by: tikay on June 14, 2005, 12:32:45 AM
Tonight is when the men are seperated fom the boys, for this is the first BIG test. $2,000 Pot Limit Omaha - WITH REBUYS. This could get seriously - & I mean seriously - expensive.

I have a few updates from Dave El Blondie Colclough, & hope to bing you them through to close of play.

Omaha IS Dave's game, & he generally expects to money in any World-Class Omaha event. He's been bang out of form so far, so he's hoping things may turn around tonight.

There were 212 runners, another indiication that this one is for the big boys.

These rebuy tourneys are lethal though.

You may rebuy straight away, i.e. anytime you have the starting stack or less.

That means double rebuys anytime you lose all your chips @4k a pop !

Good luck Dave.

I am a few hours behind with these updates, but I will be up to date within 10 minutes.

The first text that came in read as follows (all these updates are via text from Dave at the table).

"....My starting table includes Ram Vaswani, Barny Boatman, Jeff Duval (3rd in h Hi-Lo a few days back) & Eric Lindgren....."

I replied "never mind THEM - they are more frightened of you than you are of them...."

To which he replied.......

Post by: tikay on June 14, 2005, 12:41:27 AM
And, spookily, Karabiner anticipated Dave's text perfectly......

".....it's a rebuy, they have all taken the immediate add-on before the first hand, & there is a DOUBLE top-up at the end, so a guaranteed spend of $8,000 in prospect = MINIMUM..."

To which I replied...

"Gulp...."

Title: Re: WSOP Event # 12 - $2,000 PLO
Post by: tikay on June 14, 2005, 12:45:06 AM
"...Listen, I am here to win this, & I have $20k in my pocket...".

To which I replied.....

"....EEekkkk....".

He also mentioned that he was with Gary "The Whacker" Bush, who is in the last 20 of Event 11, the $2,000 PLH. I will update that comp on a separate thread shortly......

Title: Re: WSOP Event # 12 - $2,000 PLO
Post by: tikay on June 14, 2005, 12:51:02 AM
And, this one is smack up to date........

".....well I got away with the minimum $8,000. There were 218 runners, there are about 150 left. I now have 20,000 chips, & have been moved to Devilfish's table, he is the only one on the table with similar chips. Ram has 38,000 on another table....."

I am assuming, by the way, that starting chips were 2,000. If everyone spent $8,000, that would make the average stack now about 11,600. Does that sound right guys?

More as it comes in......

Gary update in 30 seconds on new thread...

Title: Re: WSOP Event # 12 - $2,000 PLO
Post by: tikay on June 14, 2005, 01:19:44 AM
Hot off the moby......

"....135 left, I still have 20k. There were 395 rebuys & add-ons, so the total pool is about 1.2 million......"

Guess there were less rebuys than I suggested, so ave stack, with 135 left, would be about 9k. That about right?

Hehe. "is senility kicking in?". Yup, by the look of it. But who'd have thought it would get Kev before me, eh?

Temporarily, this non-flame forum has reinstated flaming. Flame away lads! But go gentle, senility has kicked in.

Anyone fancy some cash Omaha against Kev?

A whole batch of texts just arrived from Dave, all together, so the sequence is obviously awry, but I'll put em up first, & we can work out what is what after......

"...Chris Bjorin OUT. Eric Lindgren 35k, Ted Lawson 20k, Marcel 25k, 47 left, 18th place pays $11,000....."

So Dave needs to get in the money to break even - after paying for all these texts.....

That was a real ugly river for Robin.

But on the plus side, Dave has made the money, after what sounded a torrid night. I believe that's it for the day, thery return tonight to play down to 9, then tomorrow the 9 man Final. I think. (cos it's a televised jobbie).

Sixteen??!! $32,000!! How sad.

I am not a big Daniel Negruanu fan, as you may have gathered, though I accept he is a great tourney player - I think Dave rates him as just about the tops.

But for me, that giggly girlie, high pitched laugh, & constant blathering (thank you Red-Dog), & his "hyper" get on my tits. I cant help thinking he's on something.

And the main thing, which is why I really detest the guy, is that his name is so damn difficult to spell. Lateral thinking, see?

Title: Re: WSOP Event # 12 - $2,000 PLO
Post by: Karabiner on June 14, 2005, 10:50:55 AM
Someone has posted on the HMF that Dave has 60k at the close of play.

That is a fair starting point for the morrow.

Title: Re: WSOP Event # 12 - $2,000 PLO
Post by: tikay on June 14, 2005, 10:56:06 AM
Trust HMF to get it wrong. He has $59,500......

Chip counts in full shortly, but, if you leave aside the runaway chip leader, (Arturo Diaz, $201,500) Dave is about mid position. I think average is about 68k.

The blinds are, I believe, 800-1,600. Time to play.

Thanks Richard. The Chip Leader, Arturo Diaz, is that the guy who got 10th or 11th in the WSOP biggie last year? He does not appear to have much of an Omaha pedigree, though he got a mini-money in the Hi-Lo last week.

Good luck to Dave, once again proving that he is a true world class omaha player.
Best of luck for tomorrow/today?
Ian

BTW the best omaha player at Walsall is a fella called Taj who i'm told created some sort of record on stars a couple of weeks back by having the most money ever in front of him in a single session, anyone hear anything about this?

Well. Seeing as a whole bunch of forum users will be having another crack at qualifying this weekend I figured it may be better to delay posting the odds until the start of next week (see how optimistic I am for you all!). You never know I might even be able to add myself to the list by then.... :)

By the way....who is sigbjorn and who is WSOPin05???

We were looking to go each way the top 3 on this market with the only trouble being if 3 people don't make the money it's impossible to get hold of exact finishing positions. Much as I'd like to think 3 monies is likely it could be awkward if it doesn't happen when trying to settle the market. Any suggestions for getting round this welcome.....

Sigbjorn is Sig Vegne, a Norweigan gentleman, who I shall be seeing in Bergen this Friday.

WSOPin05 is an American guy, who has been winning comps for fun lately, he's HOT. He is a buddy of Dave Colclough's.
