Title: Facebook question
Post by: Woodsey on June 13, 2011, 01:12:28 PM
Can someone explain to me exactly who can see what on your facebook page?

If I'm bantering with one particular person on there, I'm assuming others can't see that unless they are friends with that person too?

Depends on your settings. You can set your own profile to varying degrees of privacy.

Depends where it's written too I guess, if it was on their wall and their wall was public then anyone might be able to see it. You can check the privacy settings for more info (and disable things like facial recognition)

Ok I think I set mine to be pretty private, but can you give me a a rough idea of what people can see with various settings, if it long and u don't have time don't worry.....

Nah not at I don't care about anything on there now, I've just got a few semi friends I'm considering adding and I just want to know what the score is for this type of stuff really.

Would you say that women in general see that their men chatting to random ladies on fb is akin to chatting up leggy blondes in a pub?

Ok some people have a lock on their front page so you cannot see any of their info, what do you change in the security setting to make that happen?

Just make everything private....if u comment on another profile which is private and a non friend clicks on it..they wont see the convo...but they will see that you made a comment...and will presume your having an affair...if its a leggy blonde in her profile pic

they have you on limited profile i presume.

click on your friends and there is a drop down somewhere where you can assign them and set up different profiles for what they can see of yours.

I'm thinking more of people that are not friends that stumble across my page.......

account>privacy settings>custom

set everything to friends only and anything on your profile will be only visible by friends

anything you post to other peoples' wall, photos, status etc will be visible depending on how their privacy is set up

Mine is set to friends only for everything, that way nobody can see anything on your profile unless you are friends.

There ate differing degrees of privacy...if completely private they see absolutely nothing.....

I think, if you have it set to just  friends, if someone was searching for you, or clicked onto ur profile, this is what they'd see!  -UNLESS they were indeed friends with you.

Nah I clicked friends for everything and there is still some info there on me and also a list of my friends on the left hand side on the screen.

Thanks to the fine folks at facebook, you can't, from what I can tell, actually delete your account.

I suppose if you were able to do it they'd be unable to sell off yet more of your data.

Quick question.....I have never paid a penny for fb....why are the owners billionaires?

Facebook is valued so highly because of the amount of users it has I believe. If you consider there are probably hundreds of millions all signed up, it's a dream site for people wishing to market their products. Advertisers can chose selectively who to target too.

On top of that, for every transaction made through clicking on a link that originates from FB I believe they get a small slice of the pie.

They are also making money through online applications such as Farmville. A shitty little game millions of people spend hours playing.

Goto your privacy settings. Then press customise. Then there's a button called preview my profile which will show you what it looks like to non-friends. You can ever type in names to see what it looks like to specific people.
