there is a pole on the orange home page and the votes go like this
Who should replace Steve McClaren?
Fabio Capello - 4% (46 votes)
Luiz Felipe Scolari - 6% (68 votes)
Stuart Pearce - 2% (24 votes)
Martin O'Neill - 3% (36 votes)
Marcello Lippi - 13% (151 votes)
Jose Mourinho - 3% (41 votes)
Guus Hiddink - 63% (757 votes)
Harry Redknapp - 1% (7 votes)
Sam Allardyce - 4% (47 votes)
Someone else - 2% (29 votes)
<< Back

Completely outclassed when he brought his team to wembley, struggled in the big game against israel when he had qualification in his own hands then struggled to get past an Andorran outfit who have never scored a point in competitive football.

So no change from what England have just sacked then............

He manages Russia. If you are going by one match, lets get Slaven Bilic in as manager.

Hiddink has done more in the last ten/fifteen years than most managers dream of achieving in a lifetime.

His track record speaks for itself.

Huh?

what track record?

as international manager he fell out with several of the dutch team and ended up resigning after the 1998 world cup having been beat in the semi finals

He then managed the South Koreans in the 2002 world cup but as they were hosts they didnt have to qualify, rubbed many of the Korean FA up the wrong way before managing to take them to the quarter finals before losing to Spain

He then switched to the Austrailian national team who just about scraped through the group stages only to lose to Italy in the first knock out game.

He then takes over at Russia and just about scrapes through the qualifying stage due mainly to the ineptitude of Steve Maclaren.

his only managerial successes have come with PSV and no offence to our dutch friends on blonde but i reckon my cat could lead PSV to a decent top 3 finish with the standard of the teams in that division.

and i'm sure the FA will keep an check on his tax evasion as well Wink

Losing world cup games at crucial times - England have already had several managers who have done that.

Like i said all his success came with a PSV team where the standard of football leaves a lot to be desired.

If England have desires of winning a major championship then they need to do better than Guus Hiddink

International football is a massive luck fest. He made two semi's; well done. But he won the European Cup with PSV, he qualified with Australia for the first time in 30 years and he took a average South Korea team to the semis (when most people thought they wouldn't make the knockout round.)

Who would your choice be Matt?

I wanted Maclaren to keep his job - watching England under him was funnier than Sven Grin

I Think they'll go for Lippi...

I rate Lippi over Capello..the problem would be with the sort of footie they both prefer..BOOOOOOOOOORING.

Boring winning football>>>>>>>>>>>>Exciting losing football...

Colchester Kev. It's the right choice.

I would certainly whip those lazy overpaid, underperforming prima donnas into shape ... no effing about, I would expect players to sweat blood while wearing the shirt... NO, I WOULD DEMAND IT.

ALSO NO player would be paid to play for England, if pride at representing their country isnt enough, fuck them, i would pick someone who wants, desires and is DESPERATE to represent their country.

I'm surprised that Steve Coppell is such a big price(33/1) as he seems to tick all of the relevant boxes.

He played for England, he's an English premiership manager who's teams play, or attempt to play good football.

And he has achieved far more in the game than his immediate predecessor.

Lump on would be my advice, in the absence of too many better candidates...
