Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Ironside on April 23, 2005, 11:26:13 PM sorry chris blondes own tikay is playing in the event and untill he bust we wont get any info from belfast
i dont think he will be able to get a full list of people that entry (very rare to get that info) but he will hopefully be able to supply us chip counts etc as he event goes on with a bit of luck for tikay though it might be very late as i think he is planning on making a money finish also i wouldn't print your email in an open forum as you are liable to get alot of spam and viruses sent to you your email is in your profile and people will be able to contact you that way Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Karabiner on April 24, 2005, 12:07:01 AM I guess 'no news is good news' for Tikay in Belfast.
Hope we hear nothing until tomorrow in that case ! ;) Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Ironside on April 24, 2005, 12:09:47 AM reading thru last nights reports i would guess tikay is asleep on the table by now

Rhowena is still there, & I have asked her to try & update me, if she does, I will post it here. I will try & give you a few bits & pieces of info in a bit, to tell you a bit of news about the Belfast tourney. Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 10:42:02 PM Only 82 runners sat down, so with a guaranteed first prize of 100,000, there won't be much prize money to spread between the other Finalists. Smells like a big chop I'd guess.
I will post some Belfast stuff, but before I do, a big thanks to all the local lads who made us so welcome. Ivan Donaghy sorted out a nice hotel for us, the Malone Lodge, & Julian, Mel Lofthouse, Jim Reid, Rhowena, & Steve & Billy from the Poker 425 crew all stayed there. And thanks to Sean Murphy for giving us a warm welcome. And Mags (from The Merrion) who was TD, & bought along a smashing team of dealers. Amongst the dealers were two young ladies from Latvia. A big hi to them both, especially Vicky. Vicky was awesome, just drop dead awesome..... Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Rupert on April 24, 2005, 10:44:32 PM 4 left apparently
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 10:54:05 PM Who was there?
Well the travelling contingent was headed by Carlo Citrone, William Hill's Julian Thew, Jim Reid, the in-form Micky Wernick, and Paul ActionJack Jackson, who was Ladbrokes branded. Paul had his daughter with him. Mel Lofthouse had won a seat, and Thewy & I agreed to meet Mel at the Airport in Belfast, she was coming from London, we had come from East Midlands. Shame we never realised there were two Airports, it took an hour or more before the penny dropped that we were at different ones..... Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 10:54:56 PM Any idea who Rupert? Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: the rock on April 24, 2005, 10:59:10 PM How far did you get Tikay?
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 11:03:29 PM The home team included Ivan Donaghy, Peter Roche, Roy The Boy Brindley, Rory Liffey, Paul Leckey, & Declan Barker, who did so well in Monte Carlo. Oh, & Mal Dawson, who I met in Dublin at The Irish Open, & who kindly drove me back to my hotel at 6am this morning, thanks Mal!
And I just remermbered, thank you to the Dooman at The Cavendish who took me & Thewy back to the Airport tonight. The Prize structure, by the way, was..... Winner 100,000 2nd - 7,000 3rd - 4,000 4rh, 3,000 5th, 2,000 6th, 2,000 7th, 2,000 8th 1,000 9th, 1,000 Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: RED-DOG on April 24, 2005, 11:09:27 PM that structure looks like Danni from Walsall did it!
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 11:11:13 PM Well the Prize Money was a weird thing. They had GUARANTEED a 100k first prize, & only 82 turned up, so they were a bit stymied.....
The actual structure was terrific. 10,000 chips, 25-50 to start, 1 hour clock. Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Ironside on April 24, 2005, 11:15:19 PM pity that less turned up all that way for a winner takes all event would have been good value
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 11:18:43 PM Me? The Rock (Malcolm) asks...... Most of the blondeites KNOW how I got on without even bothering to check.....
Usual story, chipped up early, thought I played OK with no help from the cards. 5 tables left, lost a "race", my QQ failed to hold on against AK. Cling-on jobbie after that, made Day Two as, guess what, Billy Low Stack, there's a novelty, eh? Had to gamble today, & busted out second hand with AJ suited against AQ in 26th place. Nothing changes.... Mind you, His Jammyness The Thewy was out before it got dark on Day One...... Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Ironside on April 24, 2005, 11:20:52 PM Mind you, His Jammyness The Thewy was out before it got dark on Day One...... and i bet he went off and played a stupid cash game instead of informing us mere mortals sitting at home of how the event was going His Jammyness = jack 8) ;D ;) Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: danmonkey on April 24, 2005, 11:23:11 PM Shamelessly borrowed from the cavendish club site:
last four are Action Jack Darren Baine Paddy McCloskey Mal Dawson Finished: 5th - Stuart McDonald 6th - Ivan Donaghy 7th - Danny Yefet 8th - Gerry Groves 9th - Paul Leckey 10th - Andy Horne 11th - Sean Macklin 12th - Declan Barker 13th - Steven Davison Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Karabiner on April 24, 2005, 11:23:58 PM Me? And yes, he COULD have done the Live Update for Blonde, but I don't think he can write. Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 11:26:26 PM Wow, good luck to Actionjack. What a comeback, he was second lowest chip overnight, worsted only by yours truly. He's down to the last 4, & I am back home in Derbyshire.....

Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Ironside on April 24, 2005, 11:34:05 PM its offical title was "the blue square tikay freeroll"

Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: julian on April 24, 2005, 11:44:18 PM not really a bad beat, had no chips, id'a called in his shoes.
i felt like tk, 7 hours of play, chips fluctuated between 9 & 12k. so what was that gay bar like then? Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Foxy on April 24, 2005, 11:51:01 PM Julian this is a public forum you could have text me that question in privite :-[ , there was no where to get a drink and a mans goto do what a mans goto do ;D
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 24, 2005, 11:51:46 PM Here's maybe a clue as to why I rarely get deep-stacked in comps, this is a hand that, by general concensus, I played badly.
I limp with 3-3, little knowing that Matey Boy (nice lad from Cork) has KK. Flop is 8-6-3 rainbow, perfect. Matey Boy bets, I smooth call. Turn comes another 6, I have filled up now. He checks, so do I. River comes another 8, so 3-6-8-6-8. Don't like the turn, there are two overpairs to my set, I am losing to any 6 or 8. Matey Boy checks, I bet 3k, he has a total of 9k, he calls, & I take the pot. Most shrewd judges, Carlo Citrone included, who was at the table, think I should have bet the turn, & moved all-in on the end & got properly paid. But I did not want to lose him, & could not put him on KK, (he limped pre-flop) but I guess I left a good bit of money behind & sholda busted the guy for another 6k I guess this is one of my "leaks", not getting properly paid when I have the goods. I saw danger that was not there. Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Foxy on April 25, 2005, 12:06:14 AM interresting hand there Tikay I would have been all in pre flop with poket threes its a monster hand in my book 8)
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Ironside on April 25, 2005, 12:06:48 AM i cant see this mircodisney moving many chips
infact he dont look like he has any have i missed a bad beat or a bit of bad timing? Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: Karabiner on April 25, 2005, 12:11:06 AM It was the worst kind of timing, he moved in on a raggedy flop with a pair only to find matey-boy sitting with top set !
Ooops ! Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: TheDoc12345 on April 25, 2005, 12:40:14 AM Good luck Paul !!
Luke & Claire.... Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: CelticGeezeer on April 25, 2005, 01:17:32 AM I hear it was a four way deal 8)
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 25, 2005, 01:24:12 AM Well that's Paul Jackson, Mal Dawson, Paddy McCloskey & Darren Baine. A great comeback by Paul Jackson, who was second lowest chip opvenight. And a terrific result for Mal, who was very kind in giving me a lift back to my hotel this morning. I am afraid I don't think I know the other 2 guys, but well done to all of them!
Title: Re: Belfast Cavendish Tournament - Main Event Post by: tikay on April 25, 2005, 05:55:08 AM I forgot to mention earlier that our buddy & blondeite Stuart Fox was there too. Sorry Stu!
