I bet York have spent nearly as much on transfer fee's as Leeds have for their current lineups.
Last nights team had loan's, freebie's and 2 small fee's based on appearances playing. Only difference is we are paying about 12k a week to the fat bastard Robinson, 6kish for a few others.
Bates sure did save the club Brent, no one can deny that. Just feel instead of getting the City behind the team he's done the opposite.
Sure we made 4million last year and cleared the debts but has he let anyone spend it? not sure if he has and the managers just didnt find anyone to target.
Sledge is pure comedy he keeps popping up on this Leeds thread talking about York

Decent article.

Suprised Leeds still have the largest away following of any of the 72 Football League clubs tho.

I'm not surprised they have a large away following. I think they have away season tickets at Leeds don't they?
Wonder where he got that stat from?

I am not sure if they still have the away season tickets.
The importance of Beckford not getting suspended or injured is crucial for the final push for the playoffs and/or 2nd place. Without him we have lost something like 12/15 matches. He has now got 25 goals in around 30 games.
A win tonight and Beckford first goalscorer at 6/1 vs Oldham pls.

Talking of beckford, had this email of a betting website earlier if its of interest to you:
As we’ve seen before, sometimes odds are so wrong with one bookie they have to be taken.
Jermaine Beckford is 15/1 to score 2 or more goals tonight with Paddy Power (he is between 7/1 and 9/1 with other bookies). He is also 80/1 with them to score a hat-trick.
In Beckford’s last 10 games he has scored the following amounts of goals 3-2-1-0-0-2-0-0-2-2 meaning he has netting two or more goals in 50% of his last 10 games. He has also scored 3 times twice this season
The prices are very obviously wrong so hopefully we’ll see a couple of goals from him tonight
19.45 02/03/2009 – League One : Oldham v Leeds : Beckford to score 2+ goals @ 16 (15/1 Paddy Power) - 0.75 points
19.45 02/03/2009 – League One : Oldham v Leeds : Beckford to score 3+ goals @ 81 (80/1 Paddy Power) - 0.25 points

Cheers only bet on 1st goalscorer will lump on 2 and 3 goals now.
Paddy Power always offer specials via the offical Leeds United website, last week they offered double Beckfords odds and he shipped it in for 10/1 vs Millwall

I watched Damned United yesterday and the portrayal of Leeds players makes them to be blunt look like a bunch of knobs.
In particular Billy Bremner was just a horrible character and I came away from the film hating him.
Prior to the film, I had allways thought of him as a Leeds legend and sad when he passed away and statue was made as a tribute to him and all that.
However now I have no time for him. Trouble is I have no idea how much of the film was fact or fiction and whether he has been failry treated, as he can't argue his case.
Anyone seen the film or any thoughts?

there were a few leeds players that acted as consultants on the film.

It's not a true story, loads of it is made up.
Ofcourse most of the made up shit is about people who are dead and could not sue the original book author. Jonny Giles sued and won his case against the author as it was wrong to interlude fact and fiction in such a way so that people actually think its a true story, which it is not.
Bremner was a gentleman in the game, he was and still is idolised around Leeds, he was hugely popular and you will not get one person speak bad of him off the pitch. On the field he was a leader and a warrior but he always shook hands after the game and had great relationships amoungst fellow pro's.
Not seen the film, but I wouldn't take anything in it as the truth, its supposed to entertain not enlighten you to what actually happened.
Someone who calls you a cheat and a fraud who then comes to manage you and repeats this again to the team will not get the team to play for him. FACT.
