The USA had several Ryder Cups when Tiger was the only player who played 5 times.
In the same period Monty, Westwood, Sergio and Padraig all played 5 for Europe.

Suddenly, after a good Sunday & Monday, a 6 race gap has appeared in the Jockeys Championship.

I looked and the results were interesting.
The Euro topscorers were all the usual suspects: Westwood, Monty, Rose, Poulter and Sergio - I doubt if any of the winners were outside the top 3 in the betting.
The USA had some more unusual names leading the way.
Obviously down to the USA using all their players at least 3 times, whereas the Euro team often uses the lesser players only once before the singles.
When Poulter won(maybe six years ago) he only got in as a pick and I'm pretty sure he was ~12/1.

For those that can, the Irish rofflers are going 4 places 1/5 odds on top Euro. I think Willet is interesting there at 12-1. He has had intermittent back problems but is the Masters champion and recently returned to form after a dodgy patch. If he plays 5 matches it's hard to see him outside the top 4, good chance he even makes that with 4 matches.

Nigel Pearson suspended by Derby
They look to have been ul so far to me and the shot data lads agree.
Looks like Bruce coming in. They look a fair price for promotion

4 years ago Poulter was overall top scorer. I got a tip on him to be top Euro, 7-1 I seem to recall. It's a long time ago so the odds could be off but Poulter had a strong matchplay record that made up for being a wild card pick.

I think he tied four years ago.
The 7/1 was in the last RC two years ago - I think we were all on @7/1 as Channing put him up too.<edit> Whoops that was Rose last time.
That 12/1 was actually eight years ago when Poults was a pick; I can remember playing an apat event in Luton at the time and hanging out with the late lamented Big Laz there.

any more for any more on the ryder cup?
a portfolio would be nice

patrick reed was mentioned a few days ago
he i think top scored for his team at gleneagles with 4 points and made a great partnership with spieth
really got up for it, played out of his skin, all patriotic etc and that hasn't always been the case for the US players where team ethic has been an issue (tiger, mickelson etc)
is he any value this time in any market?

Apparently Patrick Reed walked into the American team room last night and said to DL3. "I am playing all 5 matches and only being paired with Spieth"

the Spieth point is an important one isn't it? as we have seen Spieth is such a great putter that in matchplay being paired with him means you can ride on the coat-tails to some points.
i can't see why you'd break that partnership up, and i think i would expect them to play all 5 rounds too.
maybe someone will tell me otherwise?

completely agree given the two posts.
I have put 50 each way on at 7/1 with quarter 3 places if you want it. I did this as it is with fred only, and I know it is hard to get on with him for us. Just let me know

Assuming a much more even spread of matches for US, I don't really like top US for EW betting but I quite like the idea of taking on Speith and DJ at head of market.
DJ obviously had his issues last week and I question his motivation for this - I backed Speith last week and if shot tracker is to believed was very wayward - there have been question marks about his game all year tbf. Of course he has his short game to get him out of trouble but I still don't mind taking him on here
Think Adz put up Reed who seems a fair shout at 7/1.
I've had small win bet on Mickleson, who will be the most experienced US player, will want to lead by example and will be up for the fight - Hopefully his experience should mean he figures strongly in first 2 days
Thought 12/1 was fair - win only
