A quick word about Jonathan. It's ok he'll still be in bed Jonathan has been on a year's placement from his University course. You could not wish to meet a nicer lad and he's been tremendously helpful to DTD and also to the blonde updates in 2012 He goes back to Newcastle this month, and asked to do an update before he went back, and DTD asked me..... So here it is, just the 50 tables then Jonathan. Go well, and a special request to everyone watching to help him out over the next few days. Patience and understanding please. Jonathan will be along at 1.55pm, knowing him, to kick us off! This is the earliest I've arrived here before the event has kicked off, by a good 40 minutes! This is the 2nd time this year there has been tables in the bar area, last time of course was during the record breaking £1million GTD UKIPT event. 358 registered so far meaning in just 20 minutes we have already had 58 walk ins with a long queue of people still waiting to buy-in. Currently in black cab, trying to negotiate football traffic (the driver is, anyway).
VBOL to SteveF but am hoping for a fun-filled day, for DTD to hit the guarantee (easy to say when you're not value hunting!) and for me to be able to think of something witty to end this sentence. Nope. Ah well. Title: Re: DTD £500,000 GTD Deepstack: Day 1c Post by: JGill_DTD on September 01, 2012, 01:46:01 PM Shout outs for your favourites!

Five tables set up in this bar area. I have my poker cliche bingo card ready. Have already ticked off: "Lucky river" "I picked up the wrong chips" "What are the blinds again?" Fml Sounds like thirsty work, Lee ;ifm; You got any hot pants Tal could do with a tea ! You've got more chance of out-flopping me Went to the bar earlier. Just me standing there and a number of valets (Competition: what's the collective noun for DTD Valets? Don't phone; it's just for fun). I could not have felt more overdressed. The ten minutes it took to get served felt like an hour. I'm def not a fan, but then I'm - by my own admission - quite weird, so it's hard to assimilate my opinion with anyone else's! Don't do yourself a disservice. Although we'll be in the minority, I think there are a few people who would agree with you. It just seems a bit patronising to the poker players, and even more to the valets. I may well be wrong, but presumably the valets signed up originally to a waitressing job, with something that looked more like a waitressing costume? And so, when the change came in, they were effectively being told that they would have to make if they wanted to keep their job? Would DTD agree that it's a shame there aren't more women that play poker regularly, and that a big part of the reason is the percieved masculine atmosphere in poker rooms? I bet that they do, but, to a first-timer's eye, this could make it seem not. It's no big objection, as obviosuly all Vegas poker rooms look exactly the same, but just a thought. Great updates; was going to late-reg today, but feeling dodgy after a wedding y'day, so enjoying the updates instead. Fml Sounds like thirsty work, Lee ;ifm; You got any hot pants Tal could do with a tea ! It's not the biggest issue in the world and I know debating it for the second (third?) consecutive day of updates isn't helpful, but did want to throw my tuppence in. You and I are beginning to come over all Germaine Greer, which is - at least for my part - a little unsettling. Rob knows his business better than I, so I'd never want to give the impression I'm telling him how to do his job. You're right that what they wear is no different to every Vegas casino, so there is probably something in it from a business perspective. The girls are all under 60, too, so that's one up on a good chunk of the Strip! The fact that I have no idea where to look might actually be my problem, not theirs! They are all beautiful women with figures worth showing off. I would just prefer it done differently. Am I right in saying they used to wear cocktail dresses or have I made that up in some dream (probably involving me winning the Monte Carlo)? A much bigger disappointment is Dusk being 91 short. It's a real shame but, by the same token, it is incredible that, with so many three figure comps going on these past few weeks and, with the economic climate as it is, Dusk has managed to get 909 unique entries. 909.463 including Herbie (check his staking thread if you haven't already and want to cry with laughter - best of blonde contender for sure). Speaking of stakes/steaks, mine has arrived. In the words of Henry VIII, "Arise, Sir Loin!". Not really a tournament update. Call it a bonus update. Goodness me, I don't know where some of you get your information from, so many rumours go around about DTD, which is really surprising because we are so open as an organisation.
Lets clear the Valet uniforms up; 1. These are exactly the same uniforms as we used for the CPP model shoot 6 months ago, with the intention of using the same uniforms for the Valets in the run up to the CPP, whether we keep them after that, who knows. Hospitality staff within DTD has known about these new uniforms for 6 months, we just didn't get round to ordering them till a few weeks ago, was meant to be much sooner. 2. Zero Valets have left due to the new uniform. Fact. 3. All Valets that are in the uniform were recruited to wear this uniform and have been shown it and tried it on before accepting the job (since it's been planned for 6 months), anyone with over 6 months service has been given the choice to wear it, noone has been forced, goodness me. 4. We have also increased the pay for Valets by 30% for promoting the brand with the uniform. 5. The uniform is exactly the same as Hooters but black, its way less revealing that 99% of the uniforms in Vegas, but if you don't like Hooters uniforms, I guess you wont like these 6. Feedback so far on Valets uniforms to me personally is 80% 20% in favour, I have asked 100+ customers over last few days, although I admit, some of the 20% feel very strongly against them, that's life, cant keep everyone happy all of the time I am really sorry for not putting out a Official Statement on this subject earlier, wrists slapped :) Roberto P.S. 910 :( :( :( Title: Re: DTD £500,000 GTD Deepstack: Day 1c Post by: JGill_DTD on September 01, 2012, 09:56:54 PM Haven't brought an update from table Nirvana/Herbie for a while

Title: Re: Valets Uniforms Post by: leethefish on September 01, 2012, 11:02:27 PM Tightend has shown me this. 910 :( :( :( (http://i1173.photobucket.com/albums/r600/leeethefish/98f539f6442a2648537c69729115308f.jpg) Got to love herbie ...... 910 :( :( :( I don't understand why there has been a change of uniform though, it doesn't change a poker players mentality because the valets are wearing something different? Also, has the pay of employees NOT wearing the uniform been increased by 30%? They haven't actually had such a huge hit as it appears. The juice from the 910 that played almost exactly covers the 45k shortfall. So basically they are running a 910 runner comp for nothing. Painful yes, but not quite as bad as it appears at first glance.
