Snowing today so tried to capture a snowflake from the garden. Didn't have a sheet of glass unfortunately so I used a pint glass which I then promptly smashed so couldn't use it.  Finding shards of glass in a snow filled path isn't the easiest of tasks!

First one is my fav. Got some mad skills Silo. Do you just whack on a frame in PS and also is that blur from postprocessing or is it actually out of focus?

Cheers,

The frames are made in Photoshop, just added a couple of small canvas borders.  The blurring is called bokeh, it's the bits not in focus in the shot.    My macro lens is great for this.

Cool cheers. I know about bokeh. I have recreated it a few times in PS. I know some people cut shapes out of cloth and put it over the lenses to make star/heart shape bokeh effects etc. I seem to be able to do it by accident sometimes using macro settings on manual focus but not something I would say I could pull off on purpose. I'm such a camera fish. Might get some practice in tomorrow.

How do you pronounce bokeh? I can't read it without putting on an exaggerated midlands accent.

Check out the bokeh, me duck.

Got my new replacement pocket camera sorted. Got an upgraded model as the old one I had isn't made any more.

This new camera has a fantastic feature, it sends all my pics from the camera to my ipad via wifi  disco

The ISO also goes up to 12,800. My DLSR only goes up to 1600 FFS!!!

Nice, my ISO only goes to 1600 too, and it's crap at that.  So sick what the newer cameras will do, tempted to upgrade Cheesy

Have fun

Took a wander along the riverside from Slateford to Colinton Village this morning and bumped into this fella. Difficult to get close at first as he kept flying off, always upstream but only 100 yards or so at a time. Eventually after about 2 hours stalking him, he let me get quite close.

Was bitterly cold but was happy to stick with it and quite pleased I did.
