That is interesting. Assuming Watson is just playing with her as Klugman is more limited than Xu in how much she can play.
Klugman and Watson?
Xu and Watson teamed up as ranked 41 and 48 Xu just plays doubles and is 35 Watson nearly 32 and can't even get into the qualifying events with her singles ranking anymore.
Both looking for long term partners i think with a ranking that gets them into the main draw.
Missed the Boulter match 6-0 in 2nd set is impressive in doubles
Ha, didn't check and assumed she was playing with Mimi Xu. Made sense as both Brits, and Xu can play in more tournaments than Klugman as she is 18 months older.
Don't know if Watson is entirely over with singles. She could get in Nottingham/Eastbourne/Wimbledon again, and a good run in the latter could see her going up again. If she goes out round 1 in each, think that must be it.

yeah it's quite hard to get into these 1000 events for the doubles as the top single players all want in
a team with both players on 50-60 are unlikely to get in which i think is a major reason a few of the all British teams have stalled just outside then broken up (but i could be wrong)

i see Skopski and Sailsbury teamed up this week in prep for the Olympics i presume, back to there normal partners for Rome.
with the Olympics in mind Murray is outside of a spot just now (top 56)
In the doubles Sailsbury and Skopski could team up, leaving the prospect of maybe a Murray/Murray team if they are ranked high enough
In the ladies only Boulter is ranked high enough for singles but her singles ranking alongside Watsons doubles ranking could give the an outside chance of partnering up in the doubles

Rome 1000 women
Watson and Dart out in Qualifiers, Boulter not entered (presume injured) Emma decided against trying to qualify and has put her name in for the 500 in a fortnight so might not enter the French qualifiers
Miyazaki 1st round qualifier is tomorrow
Men
Norrie is seeded 27 and will take on winner of Hijikana and Munar
Evans plays Fognini in first round winner takes on Fritz
Draper starts against Coric with winner to take on Medvedev (could do with a bit of luck in the draws)

Boulter is in the round of 64. Not heard of any injury so think she is playing.
Assume Raducanu is fairly confident she makes the cut. Have read that might duck the French Open but makes no sense to me. Seems inconsistent with her deliberately playing 1000s when she would get a much easier time in 250s. Think it she ducks France she must be aiming to play early season grass tourneys like Nottingham? Will just see what happens.

Andy Murray will be playing Djokovic if he gets through round 1 of the ATP 250 in Geneva. Farewell tour is rigged.
Looks like Raducanu is going to qualifying for French Open. Given the draw is tomorrow then think that 3 players need to withdraw by tomorrow as she is 3rd on alternate list still.
Looking increasingly likely that she is playing Nottingham given the ads I keep seeing are now featuring her. Assume she has a wild card guaranteed if she wants it. One year I don't get tickets too. Looks like Ons Jabeur is there too.

Well I got that wrong. Raducanu has pulled out of French Open qualifying. I don't know if that means she is hoping 3 pull out of the main draw, or is just going to concentrate on grass. FWIW Jodie Burrage is an obvious doubt and could have been talking to a Raducanu?
Miyazaki and Watson are still in qualifying, looks like Katie Swan is no longer there, so assume she has injury issues still.
Finally, Sonay Kartal has won 3 from 5 ITFs she has played this year, making a late push for a Wimbledon wildcard.
Watson and Boulter are together in the doubles.

Wasn't sure Murray would make the Olympics by rankings but seems like he wont need too as his slams + previous Olympics should get him in

Looks like this was right though, she has a confirmed wild card.
Saw someone this morning suggesting Kerber, Osaka and Wozniacki were guaranteed wildcards for Wimbledon too. Assuming we aren't putting Halep in?
Hart and Boulter will get in automatically.
Burrage gets in as she is basically number 2/3 if not for injury, and is going to struggle for a auto spot, as she will lose the Nottingham 2nd from her points.
That leaves 3 from Watson, Miyazaki, Kartal, Swan, Fran Jones and Armani Banks. Going to get worse when the teenagers go one through in a couple of years. Not going to be many wildcards for the British journeyman players.
Tempted to bin Wozniacki due to the moaning after the lack of a wildcard for France!

will Burrage not have a protective ranking or has she not been out long enough?

She has to be out for 6 months; she last played in March.
She has just pulled out of the French Open, but assume she is going to make every effort to play the grass season if she can. If nothing else, she is way more likely to get wildcards and the Wimbledon payday for round 1 is significant. Assume no way she doesn't get a wildcard for Nottingham if she needs one ... given it is in UK and she got to the final last year.
FWIW looks a bit stronger than last year, so she may need one.

I missed that Burrage rolled her ankle preparing for the French Open, and that she was ready to return from surgery before that. Had assumed it was just the previous injury. Only got 2 weeks to Nottingham, so that is doubtful. Don't know if she just needs to aim to go straight to Wimbledon now. Assume she definitely gets a wild card if fit.
Draper and Murray exiting the French Open so early isn't great. Feels Draper is just as flaky as Raducanu.
With Dart, Boulter and Evans all getting stinking draws, we could be down to just Norrie in round 2. Like the bad old days for UK tennis.

Was really sad watching Murray last night. Looked old and slow. But it was on clay. Stan's best service and Murray's worst. Stan's backhand is still something else. Just beautiful.
Last hurrah in the grass season. Hoping he can have a run in something. Has lots of skills on grass but his serve was so poor yesterday that it is difficult to see how he can make an impact.
