Title: DTD £500,000 GTD Deepstack: Day 1a
Post by: TightEnd on August 30, 2012, 08:30:42 AM
"This is a very big week for DTD, balls and credibility definitely on the line here" Rob Yong, August 2012

Well, the first of the big days in that big week is here. DTD aiming for 1,000 Unique runners (no re-entries) over 3 starting days to hit that whopping £500,000 GTE for this £500+60 Mega Deepstack.

To put that Guarantee into context, a half a million pound guaranteed prize pool is £50,000 more than the combined guarantees of THREE of DTD's regular £500 Deepstack events.

Play begins at 2pm with late registration until 8.30pm

16 40 minute levels with a 50,000 starting stack and the WSOP blind structure

It promises to be a fun field today looking through the list of names on http://www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com/result-info.php?id=2987

blondepoker will of course be covering all five days. Myself until Saturday, Jonathan to the finish

I will be commentating on a live stream of the feature table for the whole of the final day's play on Monday, and hopefully plenty of people will watch that. Someone, hopefully a blonde, is going to scoop a six figure first prize.

I'm off to sample the delights of the M1, see you later

I doubt it

I was friendly with a lot of the old valets. They knew I was harmless (lol), so pics were fine

Now these are new girls, and the outfits are, um, interesting.

Doubt it will feel quite right to be asking a valet I hardly know for a pic of her wearing hot pants

Will see.

Lol, seat-draw suggests nobody playing at table 24.

Someone pick a random seat for me please and I will take that (I would but have seen draw and names now).

"Michelle I've never done a lookalike of you, what do you reckon"

"I don't look like anyone. Oh hold on, people sometimes say Pauline Quirke"

I google

Michelle continues

"Before she lost the weight"

(I refrain from comment at this point, it comes with experience and a former marriage)

So here's Michelle

and here's Pauline

"Michelle I've never done a lookalike of you, what do you reckon"

"I don't look like anyone. Oh hold on, people sometimes say Pauline Quirke"

I google

Michelle continues

"Before she lost the weight"

(I refrain from comment at this point, it comes with experience and a former marriage)

So here's Michelle

and here's Pauline

Marios Andreas raises to 1025 in the cut off at 150-300

David Craigon 2200 on the button

Paul Grummitt flats in the big blind holding  Ad Kd

Andreas calls

flop  Aspades Qd 3d

Andreas folds

Craigon makes it 12,000

Grummitt shoves 50,000

Craigon calls with  Ahrt 3s and holds off Diamonds or a King to double up and knock Grummitt out

A Round with Dubai, MCEpitome, a serial limper, a TV Poker regular and a GUKPT winner

43    1    Gurdev (tony) Millan
43    2    Leon Louis
43    3    Stuart Barnett
43    4    David Shallow
43    5    Nathan Lee
43    6    Bodo Wagner
43    7    Nile Patterson
43    8    James Atkin

 6s

Wagner leads for 12,000

Hall looks like he has run over his Granny, Asks Wagner "Have you got the Queen of Spades?"

Wagner replies, enigmatically "Have you got the Queen of Spades?"

Dubai looks like he would rather be anywhere else in the world as the prospect of these two interrogating each other over the whereabouts of the Queen of spades looms over the next ten minutes

Mercifully, Hall folds

Hand 4, button seat 2

Wagner limps (uh huh)

Lee, Wagner and the previously comatose Patterson

In the small blind Atkin 3 bets to 3,000

Lee, Wagner and Patterson call

 2h 7h Ahrt

Atkin checks

Lee leads for a chunky 5,500

Atkin the only caller

turn  Qs

river  6d

Atkin check calls 10,000

Lee "Have you got the Ace?"

Nathan Lee out at the end of that level

to Bodocall Wagner

Starting the hand with 17,000, only

Lee A8hh flops nut flush draw against a pair and a flush draw

Of course, this being a 50,000 starting stack event that takes forever, all the money goes in and the pair holds to send Lee back down the motorway

Dubai makes it 700

Wagner calls

Atkin 2,500 in the small blind with  Aspades Kd

Dubai folds

Wagner.....

guess...

its not difficult...

go on....

calls

flop  Kc 9c 8c

Atkin check calls 10,000

turn  8h

Atkin checks

Wagner now puts Atkin in, effective shove of 55,000 into a pot 25,000

Atkin

"oh no, how can I fold?"

silently, clearly "FML"

"It has to be you, easy fold versus everyone else, but its you"

"Really?"

Meanwhile, Dubai is an interested observer....trying not to giggle

Eventually Atkin calls with A-K and is shown

 Kh 9h

He stands up

river  3d

Atkin is out

Wagner has 140,000 and is clear chip leader....

Maurice Samuels and Mark Lane play out a hand blind on blind

Samuels raises in the small, called pre

flop  9h 8s 8d

Samuels bets, is raised and calls

Samuels check calls on the  5h turn

Samuels leads the  2s river, is shoved on

Nut outcome as he has  8c 8h for flopped quads

Super-unlucky Lane has flopped nines full with  9d 9s and goes broke, as anyone would do ion that spot

Maurice Samuels 110,000

Athir Ali 110,000

Five ways to a flop of

 Ahrt 9h 6d

The blinds check

UTG Ash Mason makes it 4,600

Duncan McLellan in the hijack shoves for 30,000

Jose Pena in the cut off overcalls/shoves for most of his stack

the blinds and Mason fold

McLellan  Ac Td

Pena  Aspades Js

turn  Tc to more than double McLellan up and send Pena into flounce mode.

Maria Demetriou was down to 75,000 now back over 100,000

She was receiving a massage and fired down all the streets in one pot, and got an eventual fold

I was pretty convinced she didn't have it

Also pretty convinced that her opponent thought she did have it

Much like when you are eating at the table, when you stop paying attention to the massage to fire three times you can't be bluffing, right Maria?

Except I knew you were.

Richard Blacklock opens to 2,600

Adnan Aslam calls in the cut off

The anonymous local in the big blind calls

 3c Jh Ts

Blacklock leads for 5,200

Aslam makes it 12,000

Anon folds

Blacklock ships for 26,000 total

Aslam calls with  Aspades Js

Blacklock  Kh Ks

celtic, Kinboshi and others are watching on the rail

celtic "its coming on the turn"

turn  5s

Kinboshi "river Ace"

river  8d

Blacklock more than doubles towards 60,000 as his double up is met with a chorus of boos from an anti-rail!

Jim Moult is on a roller coaster

First, he called a three bet from Ryan Hall, with 3-3

The flop came 2-3-5

Moult check raised on the flop, and Hall set him in. With 9-3

Moult found a brave call and this with a few other pots sent him over 100,000

Next orbit Farhad Mirfakhrai opened to 3,000

Jim flatted on the button with Q-Q. Sneaky

Richard Turner 3 bet the big blind, obligingly Jim thought

Farhad folded, Jim made it 27,000

Turner shoved for 50,000

Jim called

Turner K-K

8-10-J-A-Q

For Turner to double up, and send Moult back where he was 20 minutes previously

Syed Zaidi shoves for 30,000

Peter Linton flats in the cut off

In the small blind Quy Trieu reshoves for 85,000

Linton is playing 100,000

He umms and aaahs and thinks and eventually puts the chips in to make this a three way confrontation

Zaidi  Aspades Jh

Linton  Ahrt Kh

Trieu  Jc Js

the board runs out

2-10-Q-2-3 to treble Trieu up, knock out Zaidi and leave Linton checking the cash game boards

Trieu as he trebles

Guess were cheering, well I'm cheering for Ash and Eso.....go on the donkey and I'd love Rich to make Celtic stay til 2.30 after the anti-rail. Great updates Rich as ever, Tamara steels the show ainec - and my car was obv cursed today, just ran AA into flopped quads in the $100 cubed.

Rick Advani raises in mid position playing 120,000

Adam Forsyth calls in the big blind

Forsyth check calls on K-5-5

turn J check check

river 5

Forsyth leads, and is set in by Advani

Call, by K-9 from Forsyth

Only to be crushed by 5-2dd from Advani to knock him out

Advani, as Forsyth departed the table was in educational mode to his felt compatriots

"I've only played good cards all day, you've seen that. Knew he'd never see me coming if I hit"

Iqbal Ahmed raises to 4,000 at 1,000-2,000

Local Anon, here every night I have ever been here, makes it 9,000

Mad Turk in the big blind ponders, his eyes narrow and he flats the 3 bet

Ahmed, the UKIPT Nottingham finalist, Stars Supernova and serial chip getter, flats

28,000 in the middle

 6h 7d Jh

Checked to the local who fires out a whopping 30,700 from over 160,000

Turk folds

Ahmed playing 130,000 or so, calls

88,000 in the middle

turn  9c

Ahmed checks

Local  40,000

Ahmed ponders

(at this point I've worked out who has what, roughly. Wasted on here lol)

and asks the dealer to spread the pot

He's getting big pot odds to hit what I assumed was hearts, and eventually calls

168,000 in the middle

river  Kc

Ahmed a quick think and shoves his last 60,000 in

Local Anon looks to the skies and exhales...for a moment he contemplates the pass but eventually calls with  Aspades Ad and beats

Ahmed Kh 2h to scoop a massive 290,000 pot and assume the chip lead

Scott Shelley has 180,000

He has A-A and 3 bets the button

Cold call from the  big blind Andy Thompson and the opener, Robin Watkins who was runner up in the last £150 calls

Ad-Jh-8d

checked to him, Scott checks back

turn 5d

Watkins leads, Scott calls, blind Andy Thompson calls

river Qc

Watkins checks, Watkins shoves for a PSB 75,000

Scott tank calls

the blind cold calls!

Watkins 7d-6d

Thompson Qs- Qh

-----

Next hand Scott cold 4 bet shoves K-K

He is called by the 3 bettor, Charles Akadiri with 9-9

Flop A-9-A

------

Same orbit

Down to 40,000, he gets back to 55,000

Finds K-K again and opens

both blinds call

9c-8c-2c flop

small blind Huy Nguyen check calls

turn 2d

Scott jams for the pot and is called by 10c-10h

river Qc to knock Shelley out

That's how to do 180,000 in an orbit, PKR style.

Richard Blacklock reshoves 3-3 UTG+2 for 41,000 (hmmm, an interesting one)

The button Adnan Aslam calls all in for 25,000 with 7-7

cf has A-Q

Q on the flop trebles cf up, 7-7 wins the side pot and Blacklock is down to 15,000

----

An orbit later cf shoves 20,000 with A-J at 1200-2400 and runs into Mark Elliott with A-K

cf now out

Maria Demetriou down to under 70,000 with average 122,000

Moved to a table two to the right of a chipped up Mike Hill, with Simon Higgins at the other end. Not that easy.

Graham Parkin 6,000 on the button

Maria 15,000 in the small blind

Graham 4 bet shove

Maria dwell fold and is shown A-Ko, and that's taken her down to the 70,000 mark

The player who doubled Maria up was Simon Higgins, calling her shove with Q-10

He's then at it again

Down to 100,000 he opens Q-10, calls a Skippy Craigon shove. craigon A-K

flop K-J-7 for the sweat

turn 6

river 7

Higgins out and a sheepish looking Craigon sets about stacking his double up

Meanwhile Mark Ellliott opens to 12,000 and Richard Norfolk shoves 70,000 next to act

Elliott calls with A-A

Norfolk 8-5dd

No sweat for Elliott on J-Q-2-4-6

He knocks Norfolk out and goes over 300,000 himself

Current state of play is this

235 on 1a

100 pre-regged for 1b, same as today before DTD opened

300 are already registered for 1c

I'd expect 1c to sell out to however many DTD can deal. 450 maybe

That leaves tomorrow as the crucial day, needing 300+ to hit this whopping guarantee

What do we think? Going to make it?

Karl Mahrenholz opens pre and is called by Local Anon from earlier in the big blind

K-Q-9

Anon leads, Karl calls

blank turn

Anon leads, Karl shoves, call

Anon K-Q

Karl A-A

K-Q holds to win a 300,000 pot and Karl is out

Michelle Bennett a full double to over 200,000

5-5 on A-10-5 versus Tin Yau Li, who I assume had an Ace to call all the way down, mucking on the river

Callum Smith 3 bets the small blind

Hill shoves for 150,000

Smith calls with A-K

Hill A-Q

flop A-Q-Q

doubles Hill to over 300,000 at 2-5k average 200,000

Bless him, Dubai threw me a £100 chip off his stack at the Omaha table before the full counts were in. He said he liked my gamble :)

He was getting it back even if I was 26th on the list. Thankfully coming in at 18th I got to keep it.  Nearly busted a couple of times trying to get a stack, which was stupid putting myself at risk for £100 instead of the longer game of £100,000!! Anyhow had the best time at the tables today and felt in the zone, bring on Day2!
