Hi,
Very new to Blonde and first post I believe.
First of all massive thanks to Marky and Simon for this thread it really has kept me entertained for the last couple of days.
Just after a bit of advice really if you can help.
There are a group of 8 of us (21-25 year old guys) in Vegas for 11 days in June and we need a hotel for 4 nights 18 - 22 June. Having read this thread I realise those dates are not ideal in that they clash with EDC, which we are certainly not there for.
Basically we are not wanting to stay in CC/ Strat but are also perhaps going to avoid a Bellagio suite. Any advice on where we can stay and what prices we might be looking at will be great. Also could someone explain the resort fee and when/ how much we will get charged for that.
A lot to ask I know but would be grateful for any assistance I can get.
Welcome to Blonde.
You don't mention if you have been to Vegas before or not, and how prepared you are to bunk in together.
Vegas rooms usually come as 1 King bed or 2 Queen beds. US Queen size is like UK kingsize anyway, but if you guys want to, you can do 4 to a room, sharing a bed. 2 rooms will then do 8 of you.
Next option up is to get 3 Queen Rooms. Room 1 for 2 of you and Rooms 2&3 share 3 each. You phone room services and ask them to bring up a rollaway bed to Room 2 and Room 3. Its a very comfortable single bed on wheels, in small hotel rooms it will be tight, in larger rooms it will not be an issue. That way, everyone gets their own bed, but costs an extra room between you.
Next up is 4 rooms... (standard two to a room obv.) right up to 8 rooms, room each.
Most hotels are fully aware of EDC and therefore prices have already gone North. If you'd booked really early, you could have caught one or two places napping. Now the best bet seems to be via 3rd party websites, which don't seem to react as quickly/much. Hotwire is currently offering Trump* at £428 for a room. With R/F**+tax, you are going to be looking at ~ £500/room. That's the best quality room at a sensible price that I could see.
* Although it is a hot deal and so unamed hotel, if you search for 5star North Strip, if the facilities don't say "casino" then you are getting the Trump. (If they do say "casino" then you won't mind as you will be getting Venetian/Wynn)
** Resort Fee is usually added to your bill each day and payable on exit. It is typically $20-$25+tax, so budget on £20 per day for it. It covers gym access, internet, sometimes bottled water, newspaper, etc. Assume you are getting charged this unless the 3rd party you book through explicitly states that your quote includes R/F.
The PH deal I posted on the previous page also comes out to about £500/room. I actually think the Trump is a nicer hotel room in a vacuum, but for 21-25 year olds, you would prolly be better in PH.
