We’ve got a cuckoo at Hampton water an old brick pit now a nice nature reserve / country park
I hear it most days
It’s the first one I’ve heard for awhile though
I haven’t seen swallows / house Marin's yet ? That’s a sign of warmer weather

I haven't heard the cuckoo or seen a swallow this year, but since I downloaded that Merlin app I've been surprised to learn that there are birds around me that I never see.

I'm on the lookout for a Jay, a goldcrest and a whitethroat.

Heard that Cuckoo yet Tom?

No Trev.

I'm beginning to think I'll never hear one again.

These days, whilst doing or experiencing something that happens infrequently, I sometimes find myself thinking, I wonder if I'll ever do this again?

Not in a morbid way, more like a Be aware of the transience of life and squeeze every last ounce of pleasure out of it that you can way.

So if I do get to hear another cuckoo, you can bet I'm going to enjoy it.

I think I have heard one every year since this discussion, but not this year.

In the time before COVID my mum got so sick she almost died.  It has been a long road to recovery, but she isn't ever going to get back to how she was, as she is getting older.

For a long time she has just used her car for getting around locally, so I kind of knew she wasn't going to ever drive down to see us again.  The other week she gave us our house key back. Such a small thing, but was in bits about it.

Sorry to here about your mum Doobs. Isn't it strange how a small thing can be the catalyst for all the emotion to come out.

Does she live far away?

Only been to Hinkley once, passed it a lot on the motorway

Around 45 years ago my pals and I would always follow the transatlantic motor bike races, Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts etc

Brands Hatch Good Friday
Mallory Park Easter Sunday
Oulton Easter Monday

We left Brands on the Saturday morning rocked up to Wolvey campsite Saturday afternoon

Spent the afternoon between the Pub and Bookmakers

After a considerable amount of sherbets onboard we ended up at a nightclub called Hinkley Nights, this is where it all got a tad messy.

The usual happened, Beer, Girls, Jealousy, Big Disagreements with the local lads, thrown out...resulted in a very memorable joyous day

Suppose to of grown up now!!

The Hinckley Night is still going strong Trev. I can't believe it's been hosting punch-ups for over 45 years though.

The girls got thrown out of there a couple of months ago so your in good company.

That’s me booked for 22 nights out there at the end of May.
Super excited as lots of the type of games I enjoy to choose from while I’m out there.
Just need to cash in some as been dry couple of summers out there.
There’s a few lists of MTTs about but the best one I’ve found is poker schedule where I can filter out the no limit Holdem to see what’s on at all the different casinos daily, link below .

Almost definitely not making it this year.  Have had a horrid run up to this weekend, and somehow it was worse.  Am still in the low main but crippled late by someone who lost their mind.  Need to convert 8 bbs to a top 10 finish to get to Vegas I think.  Hopefully can run better in the next 12 months, but might just have a couple of weeks off to clear my head after SCOOP has finished.

Good luck in your trip, can't be long to go now. Will try and keep an eye out on the reporting.  Do you have a schedule yet?

“Almost definitely not” - ooooh still a chance , see you in a week 👌

I barely played scoop, too lazy .

Drove up to Gatwick today .  First mistakes of the trip.   Didn’t realise Newquay to Gatwick flights are back on with eastern airways 3 times a day, advert popped up on my feed yesterday .  Planned trip purely around hotel flight cost and buyins but didn’t even realise I was travelling up from Cornwall pm on a bank holiday Monday when all the long weekenders are heading home .  A seasoned traveller like myself should know better .

Not sure yet if will do personal updates.  Was tempted to restart the blog , start a blog here , or just post here but haven’t really made any decisions.

I’ve been excited for the last week or 2 but right now I’m just tired 😁

Was really sad watching Murray last night. Looked old and slow. But it was on clay. Stan's best service and Murray's worst. Stan's backhand is still something else. Just beautiful.

Last hurrah in the grass season. Hoping he can have a run in something. Has lots of skills on grass but his serve was so poor yesterday that it is difficult to see how he can make an impact.

I know he occassionally reads this Diary of sorts to whittle on about Cuckoos or whatever, so just wanted to wish Trevor Pearson (typhoon) good luck at DTD today. For those interested, I think it will be streamed on "DTD Player" which I think is on You Tube.

Burrage gets in as she is basically number 2/3 if not for injury, and is going to struggle for a auto spot, as she will lose the Nottingham 2nd from her points.

will Burrage not have a protective ranking or has she not been out long enough?

She has to be out for 6 months; she last played in March.

She has just pulled out of the French Open, but assume she is going to make every effort to play the grass season if she can. If nothing else, she is way more likely to get wildcards and the Wimbledon payday for round 1 is significant. Assume no way she doesn't get a wildcard for Nottingham if she needs one ... given it is in UK and she got to the final last year.
FWIW looks a bit stronger than last year, so she may need one.

I missed that Burrage rolled her ankle preparing for the French Open, and that she was ready to return from surgery before that.  Had assumed it was just the previous injury.  Only got 2 weeks to Nottingham, so that is doubtful.  Don't know if she just needs to aim to go straight to Wimbledon now.  Assume she definitely gets a wild card if fit.

Draper and Murray exiting the French Open so early isn't great.  Feels Draper is just as flaky as Raducanu.

With Dart, Boulter and Evans all getting stinking draws, we could be down to just Norrie in round 2.  Like the bad old days for UK tennis.
